Will (Ben Foster) and his teenage daughter, Tom (Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie), have lived off the grid for years in the forests of Portland, Oregon. When their idyllic life is shattered, both are put into social services. After clashing with their new surroundings, Will and Tom set off on a harrowing journey back to their wild homeland. I've only seen part of this movie, but quite impressed by the authenticity being filmed where real life events happened. I've lived outdoors in that area myself. I'm also a military veteran, and I even worked at that VA hospital. Certain things, like the OHSU tram (right next door and even connected by a walkway to the VA) cannot be truly duplicated on any made up set.

I'm on the threshhold of leaving pitiless civilization behind again for about the next six or sixteen months, again, so I think this might not be the best time to sign up for that movie service, but it sounds pretty good.

Best movie I’ve seen since Ben Foster other movie Hell or Highwater. Performance by both actors were amazing. Be prepared to be moved by human emotions that defined our world as it is today.

yep, it's sad that people are constantly searched for in the woods and essentially we have no option to live off the grid, but like most things, if there were no laws, people would take advantage and the forests would be destroyed by inconsiderate people, all trying to build extravagant tree houses. Then again if we didn't build houses there would be a lot more trees around...

It's called digging a hole, but nobody but a dumbshit has that hole in the vicinity of where you eat, sleep, etc. There's also opportunities during trips to town and even at the Zoo MAX stop which isn't really in town but at one end of Forest Park - probably a much longer walk there tbh. It's a pretty big forest being right next to a city, seriously long from end to end.

Hi C Young think this scene is quite relevant to the film, it demonstrates how they still maintained personal hygiene while living completely off the grid. Don't be a prude dude 😅
