Leaving Alaska is Such Sweet Sorrow - Ice Climbing, Castner Glacier, State Fair and Foraged Fruit

Yes, it's taken us almost two months to get the next video out, but life's been busy and there are more adventures ahead.
This video takes us from Homer to the Alaskan border with stops in Palmer and along the Richardson and Alaska Highways. We enjoyed delicious brews and food at Bleeding Heart Brewery in Palmer and checked out the final day of the Alaska State Fair. Kelly tried her hand (and toes...more to follow in a future video) at ice climbing on Matanuska Glacier and we both took a hike to the rapidly receding ice cave at Castner Glacier.
We saw a black bear family as we made our final push to the border, a bitter-sweet travel day. After three months, our time in Alaska was coming to an end. We hope you enjoy following our last adventures in Alaska...until next time ;-)

We have been checking to see if there was a new video so we were all excited. Our kids saw your name on your truck/trailer on the road in southcentral (age 9 and 12). They love your videos. Your comments made our day! Seriously. We put this channel together to share our adventures with family and friends and love to hear others are enjoying it as well. We LOVED our visit to Alaska and are hoping to spend the full year there on our next trip. For now, our travels are taking us further south like the proverbial snowbirds 😆. We enjoyed following your Alaska adventure. Last year we took our Oliver to Glacier, Yellowstone and Badlands. Summer ‘24 will be Nova Scotia, PEI and St Lawrence river Valley. Alaska will have to wait until retirement but it’s on the list!

Thanks for watching! Alaska is a definite bucket lister. Unfortunately, we bypassed those spots on our way north to maximize our time in Canada and Alaska. We’ll have to hit term on our next go-around, but the Maritime provinces are on our list for summer of ‘25. Cheers!

Are you seeing gravel damage to the front of your trailer? My wife and I plan to go off road a lot too when we get our Oliver. We also plan to get the composting toilet, max solar and batteries for longer off grid.

We have seen some gelcoat chips, but all from gravel roads. When truly off-road, we go so slow we don’t kick up rocks. For Alaska, we covered the front with gym mats, but others have used 3M films or spray truck bed liner for a more permanent solution. Cheers!
