KZfaq upheld a Community Guideline Strike against a 2.5 year old half assed video that I would have been fine with simply deleting. This means I lost the right for 6 MONTHS to upload long form vids, plus even be able to dispute other infractions.
KZfaq has made it clear it has not real concern about content creators. I will continue to upload small videos to this and the other channel, but YT will no longer be my primary focus.
If someone with 626K Subs isn't worth a simple phone call there is no argument for why it's worth investing real effort to this platform.

Google took down one of my videos due to an audio copy write violation. I wrote the song and recorded all the music myself :/ I filed a claim and it got rejected. I re-uploaded it the next day and never heard anything since. F'ing idiots...

+FastRedPonyCar I heard of that before, the dude was told his music sounded too similar to something else. So if you HUM a song on your own channel some robot algorythm might think you're singing the Star Spangled Banner, even if it was a video of you sitting on the toilet humming while taking a dump. Yeah, we are screwed.

+FastRedPonyCar One of the 2 strikes I have is from a video I took at a show, where some music was playing in the background, and I have written permission from the author to include the audio in my video. Doesn't matter to youtube!

arcadeuk Yeah same thing with Josh Woodward music. He had so many people have issues we have to go to his website and enter our KZfaq Channel Name so he can tell KZfaq not to strike the videos of the channels that have his permission to use his music. Pretty sad stuff, it's all algorythm controlled.

+TekReview's If robots could be judges and juries, then we'd have robotic judges and juries. Google doesn't seem to know this or care, but it could also be that the DMCA is a shitty law that causes internet companies to go to these lengths. It's a good thing CISA and TPP are out now to accompany other great laws like the DMCA and 1986 CFAA. America is going in a direction. It seems like the direction is backwards and down.

I had a video uploading before I even saw that the strike was removed. I've never wanted to invest in KZfaq as a career or anything close to a major revenue stream. This kinda reaffirms that. I was thinking about whether it would be a good or bad idea to divest some time from business to KZfaq, but hell no.

Eli the Computer Guy Finding something that actually works in front of my hurricane of an office has been a nightmare. :( It measures 75 dB from my seat after air filter, fume extractor, air conditioner, hot air station, etc.... I fell in love with D:fine d88. If I ever get around to fixing the 4065 I got as a gift last year, you are welcome to it.. I don't need 3 different microphones, this sounds amazing but can't block out machine noise so it's just sitting collecting dust. If you have a PO box I can fix and send to you. This is what the TED talks use, it would be good practice fitting it for when you do yours ;)

It's not just you sir. There are some VERY serious problems going on about KZfaq that nobody talks about. Basically the big channels keep quiet as long as they making good money. The small channels are too small to matter to KZfaq. You are almost big enough to matter to KZfaq but your channel is still small by KZfaq standards. The big channels are all in the millions of subs level. PewDiePie is over 30 million subs. Small up and coming channels like Casey Niestat are at 1.5 million. KZfaq is MASSIVE, so you need to have a MASSIVE voice to be heard. Also, just to let you know just HOW bad it is. I got a strike on copyright for using music that KZfaq said I could. I proved my case by sending screen shots of the site saying I could. They did even update that part of the site right away but it is corrected now. Meanwhile, I've been in your shoes for 3+ MONTHS now. I'm working with a partner manager and who has gotten me anything. I contacted support and they reply like they are a Philippines team following a script or worst a AI computer PROGRAM!! I even spoke to my producer at KZfaq Space and nothing. My channel was CLEAN record. There are many channels close to your size and bigger that are now defunct due to KZfaq nonsense and nobody seems to care. You can spend a decade on KZfaq and they will still delete you in a second with no warning or good explanation.

+FIXProtocol Oh...it's NOT about censoring. There is a guy on KZfaq right now that has violated 85% of the rules on a regular basis and he is living in some mansion which he probably got through hustling his subscribers with donations. HE does hate speech, racist stuff, calling for violence, lots of copyright violations and much more and even with THOUSANDS of people petitions, he is STILL going strong! The REAL problem is KZfaq has grown MASSIVELY out of control as for SIZE. It's WAY too many videos and channels to manage. They just don't have the resources. So they automate and maybe even outsource to 3rd word countries (my guess). Eli, I have some idea about what we can do about these problems. I'd love to share it with you. Please let me know if you are interested.

TekReview's We live in a dumbed down generation. People value pranks and cat videos more than things that could allow them to buy a house or go on their dream vacation. It's all about instant gratification over investing in yourself beyond what society says you should. People donated $112,000 to that racist fraud KZfaqr who is a fraction the size of Eli but I bet if Eli asked for donations to help build his own platform outside KZfaq to bring more content to his fans, he might not even get $5000. How realistic would it be to create a decentralized video sharing platform? It would essentially work in the same spirit as Openbazaar, only instead of a decentralized Amazon/ebay-like marketplace it would be kinda like KZfaq but primarily serve as an extra layer of security. In the event something happens to your channel you'd still be able to connect with anybody subscribed to your decentralized network behind the scenes.

Eli the Computer Guy In a sense yea, but I imagine it running in your browser like a website. It could look a lot like KZfaq, but instead of showing everything that exists, it pulls together a smaller collection of content providers that you have chosen to follow. At that point, as long as that person continues to produce content it cannot be removed by a company or some disgruntled 3rd party who doesn't like what you said. Whenever the channels you follow release new content, or something happens and you need to let your group know, it could send out a notice to other people on your group's network. The idea is you'd have to be online for at least one person to receive whatever the update was, and then they could become like a seeder of that new release to make it available to other group members when they come online. I really came to this idea just to make it more difficult for someone to silence other people through fraudulent DMCAs and simplify the act of connecting with people who have been removed from KZfaq.

Hey Eli, you should consider looking at a format where you can stream your podcasts LIVE also. That way, perhaps you can start an IRC channel, with embedded webchat on your site(KiwiIRC for example), where you can get live feedback during your broadcast. It's just an idea. Maybe it's one you've already thought about, and ruled out, but I just thought I would throw it out there. Good luck.

KZfaq has enough money to pay for a relationship between KZfaqrs and KZfaq and not just say ha you fucked up here is your strike by a email. >$50,000 a year would be enough to get a courtesy call at least or a person. +NCHUBS123 I would say that youtube is well and truly dying at this point. KZfaq is losing it's content creators and is losing control over the content creators that are still there. Twitch has taken many content creators away from youtube and because youtube's system makes the rich richer very few new content creators are able to take the place of the people who left. Those who are still on youtube are also starting to branch out or simply don't depend on youtube for their income.

CleanReal Right, tell that to the advertisers. Ad revenue is a good way to judge the confidence companies have in youtube. Companies that lose trust a lot less quickly than normal users. And guess what, ad revenue is on the down. KZfaq red was a result of this and due to the way youtube implemented it it already failed before it even launched (only big channels without a patreon or donation option or people who did a lot of digging promoted it).

Eli, love your video's and straight talking way of explaining things, I too got burned by KZfaq, I was a KZfaq partner, I built up a channel to 700 + subscribers and was earning about $100 dollars a month until they changed their policy so that you needed 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time before you could make a cent from add revenue. So in essence, they basically kicked me off the partner program. It really sickened me so now I don't bother uploading videos anymore, I know I'm talking small numbers but It could have been something a lot bigger but I wouldn't dedicate any more time to it not knowing what KZfaq might do next. Eli the Computer Guy Yeah i get what u mean. Im not trying to diss on the fact u have that many. But i just think its odd u have so many and not even 100k per video. Even if ur videos are long. How did u get so many if ur viewers dont stick around?

ShadowManV3 ... don't know... In all seriousness I never "bought" subs even in the beginning because it's too easy to screw up and have something happen to your channel because you're trying to game the system... I would say that i talk about a diverse number of topics and people want to know what I'm uploading, but don't necessarily care about individual vids. Again... I watch EVERY vlogbrother vid that comes out because they are all entertaining... on the other hand if you're a sysadmin and I'm talking about phone systems you may not care at all...

Ive just heard of people buying subs or views. I didnt know if it was really a thing or not. I just recently started a youtube channel ( not this one haha another one cuz this is my personal one ) And I just have no idea how to get an audience with about being that annoying person who just goes on simular channels as mine and being like " Oh hey nice video, come check out my video if you guys wanna see simular stuff " like you see alot of the times. And the videos that talk about " how to get popular or more views on youtube" i dont think really work. I tag my videos, My videos are good 1080, professionally done videos and I know im a new channel but i still have no idea what to do to get more people then my friends on facebook to see it.

ShadowManV3 do 100 videos and then worry about it... a big factor for my "fast" rise was that I came to KZfaq with around 90 videos already created. I had been using my own platform beforehand and migrated a years worth of work to YT in a couple of days... Having a lot of content helps because people binge watch. They watch one vid and then another and so on... I watched a year of ZeFrank's videos in about a week. Obviously if you don't have many vids there's nothing to binge on... Beyond that find a topic to focus on people care about... video games... movies... politics... tech education... reviews.... the more people interested in the topic the better... you may have awesome content, but if you focus on the history of Guam there's just not that many people that care...

KZfaq should invest in creating a department, a call center even, to handle situations like this. You can't automate everything. As stated... who wants to put so much time and effort into something, only for it to disappear in a snap of a finger due to lack of communication? It's bs.

This is sad news. I've learned so much thanks to this channel. Specially your play list about networking. KZfaq must show a bit of respect to its valuable content creators and handle these issues in a flexible manner. They are not doing anyone any good by bringing down good quality creators like you.

Keep fighting the fight. I certainly hope that you continue to share your expertise. You have made a difference in other peoples lives and bettered the world for it. You'll always have that, regardless of KZfaq. Thanks Eli for helping me in my knowledge and career goals. Also, the 15min time allotment may be a great opportunity to challenge your editing abilities and add to your style. Break up the content into concise segments with chapters and visual aids for example. Think micro and macro, bits and bytes, smaller ideas to larger concepts and do it with content length- for the time being.

Dude, you are awesome. You taught me so much about computers, servers, and etc. Whatever KZfaq says, or people who don't have anything better than flagging you, I sincerely thank you for your works and efforts to teach us all about technology. I can see all your audience as it can be seen (by the mins watched and your over 687k subs)! Although, if you were to ask me, that would be like the last video of yours I would think would be taken down. I watched it recently though, and it is back. They maybe thought over this again, because I see that video, and just watched it a few mins ago. Anyway, I hope your videos stay up and help others in the future as they helped me and your current audience.
