I’m honored to have seen Kobe in person not only from the stands of the Spurs (former) AT&T Center, but also I was selected to be a Pizza Hut Ball kid on a game the Kobe, Pau Gasol led Lakers visited the Spurs. I passed by that Lakers team while they were heading back to the court for the 2nd half warmups. This Lakers team who would go on the with the 2010 Championship; I didn’t appreciate this once in a lifetime opportunity until Kobe’s tragic death. I always have and always will believe Kobe is the 2nd greatest NBA player of all time behind only Jordan.

You're not wrong. Talent wise, the Lakers are every bit as good IF NOT BETTER. BUT, the Nuggets play the RIGHT way, value the RIGHT things AND they have the BEST player in the world right now. That's why they aren't losing a best of 7 to this fraud show.

Kobe dragged a starting lineup of Smash Parker, Kwame Brown, and Luke Walton into the Playoffs in a loaded Western conference and came within a minute of the biggest playoff upset in history over a 60+ win Suns team that was scoring at a historic pace. Not once during that shambles of a roster did Kobe beg for help. Kobe just laced em up and went to war and fought which ever enemy who dared challenge him.

I just finished talking to my Dad about Kobe’s statue being revealed and how there is no way in the world the Lakers can lose this game. How even if the prime 96 bulls ran out on the floor Lakers had to win. Yet, Lebron once again showed he has zero HEART and lack of competition. That guy doesn’t care about anyone but himself and his stats

I watched Kobe get drafted and met him in person at my high school soon after that. We saw him start his career as a teenager and cheer for him. All the way till he retired as an adult. It sucks to see the Media trash him the way they are.

Kareem was there to speak, and he's 76, broke his hip a few months ago, and wasn't even that close to Kobe. Jerry West was there, and he's 85. Magic was there. Jamal Crawford was there. Shaq of course spoke on TNT about it. D Wade went earlier today, posted on his instagram story. For as much time as they spent playing each other, Bron should have gone or at least posted something. He didn't.

It's fairly obvious who your favorite player is (was, r.i.p.) and while I was never a Kobe fan (for reasons I don't care to go into here), I gotta say that your argument on a 1 to 1 comparison of Mamba vs "the kang" is spot on. While not a fan I have absolutely no reservations about giving Kobe "his damn respect" because he EARNED IT. I think you're right. He so desperately is going to try to get East this summer with the mounting power in the west. BUT NY's market is the only thing that makes sense. The current Knicks culture though doesn't really fit Lebron. Hard nosed, gritty defenders...not players that jog back on defense and stand around at that end to save their energy for stat padding...
