What is Routing Protocols is explained in this video. Routing Protocols are the set of defined rules used by the routers to communicate between source & destination. They do not move the information to the source to a destination, but only update the routing table that contains the information.
Types of Routing Protocols:
Inter Domain Intra Domain

Distance Vector(RIP) Link State(OSPF) Path Vector (BGP)

1 question related to Dynamic routing: let's say if we replaced the router (used the same IP address which was assigned to old router) i believe new router entry should get updated automatically in table. But can we delete the entry of old router? I would appreciate if you can share some additional information Thanks in advance

Hi, I didn't know where to go for this so I'm going to comment sections regarding ISP routing. I had Xfinity in New Jersey. To a server in Quebec, Canada, I had gotten 40 ping. However I moved 20 minutes from there in a suburb extremely close nearby. Now, to the same server in Canada, I now have about 15 ping. I am so curious, but cannot figure out what could have been the problem there in terms of routing efficiency there. I've done traceroutes and the like, I don't know enough about the gateways to actually diagnose where the problem was. Was it a problem on my ISP's side? (also, on another server to Ashburn Virginia, at my old apartment I had gotten 60 ping with the same provider, now at my new house, I get about 8-10)
@t104riturajverma2
@t104riturajverma2 Жыл бұрын
I hope it isn't too late for you, however Based on the information provided, it seems that the change in ping times is likely due to differences in network infrastructure and routing between your old and new locations. The fact that you are now closer to the server in Quebec, Canada may mean that your traffic is taking a more direct route to the server, resulting in a lower ping time. Similarly, your new location may be closer to the server in Ashburn, Virginia, resulting in a faster ping time to that server. It is possible that your ISP may have optimized their network infrastructure in your new location, resulting in faster and more efficient routing. However, it is difficult to say for sure without more detailed information about the network topology and routing paths. To further investigate the issue, you could try running traceroutes from your old and new locations to the same server in Quebec, Canada and compare the routing paths. This may give you some insight into any differences in the network infrastructure between the two locations. Overall, it seems that the change in ping times is likely due to differences in network infrastructure and routing, rather than a problem with your ISP.
