Just ordered up the XP 2.0 today. I'm a 68 year old 6ft tall guy so I appreciate your attention to detail about the seat height adjustment. Couldn't justify the extra cost for the rad and the 2.0 has front suspension! Really a cult thing starting with us retired RV guys And the XP!😎

Great video. Nice comparison. I actually own and ride the Rad Mini Stepthru. It's perfect for as I have war torn knees and hips, and the low step thru design makes it easy for me to mount. I have last years model, and actually prefer it to this years model. The tires are wider and has a smoother tread which makes it much quieter on the road, plus the wires are wrapped together a bit tighter. The break cable isn't out in the wind, so to speak. What I like about the newer model is that it comes with fenders. Great for those days when you get caught out in the rain. I like what your dad did regarding the mirror arrangement. Much mahalo!

I have had my RadRover now for about two weeks. I bought the seat you had recommended and many thanks for that, even my man stuff thanks you. However, I know now that getting a Rover for the Mrs. is out of the question. The Rover is a really big bike. Too tall for her to use, she can just touch the ground with her toes on the Rover. These two look really interesting and certainly open up some possibilities. Thanks for this review. Very helpful.

Cool video, and you kinda think like me when you have two similar products. I'd say the Lectric tires are better for getting back on a paved surface after going off into the wet grass, but the Kenda tires are smoother for paved riding and still get good grip in mud. That reflective stripe really stands out at night. Both headlights have the glowing bezel that can be seen from the side, but the Rad headlight has the hood to keep it from distracting the rider. The Rad Mini Stepthru 2 has the wires inside the frame, but the RadMini 4 has the wires on the bottom, and the controller and cable bundle gets covered in mud and water almost every time I ride. No issues though, so good water resistance apparently. The Lectric battery placement looks better and is more protected, but if you store your bike outdoors like a shed or garage in cold climates, I think I'd get annoyed at the extra work involved in removing the battery to bring it indoors. With the Rad, battery removal is as easy as it gets. The battery position is good on the stepthru, but on the regular mini, the battery is behind the seat tube facing the other way, and this position collects mud in the crevices. You have to use a nylon brush to clean out the lock tabs so grit does not tear up the surfaces and make the battery loose after time. The Lectric key position looks like an afterthought, and I would hate having the key there while riding, especially getting splashed with mud. I like the Lectric rack and it's a strong design. Not only does the Rad not come with a rack, but you can't buy one from Rad either right now. I had to make my own. Altus is a low mid-level derailleur, Tourney is low level. First gear on the Rad is great, and I've climbed some inclines so steep I had to lean forward to keep the front wheel on the ground! The support bar ground clearance on the regular RadMini is 7.5 inches. I could get the correct seat position with the stock RadMini seat post (I'm 5" 10"), but my Satori suspension post is 50 mm shorter, and is not tall enough. Your dad has the same bottle holder as me! The RadMini 4 also has NO mounting bosses except for the front rack. I like the Lectric display better, and don't like that the Rad trip odometer erases when turned off. That's a BIG price difference!

PS: I found out the Lectric overheats and cuts power under heavy throttle or big hills. Just thought I'd mention that for those in hilly areas.

Dude thank you so much for making this review I am in the market for an electric bike and was so confused about which one to get but you pretty much made it very clear the XP is the way to go the only thing I don't like about the XPS simply because where the key goes and the fact that I have to keep it in while riding that I'm sure can be a little irritated other than that can't beat the price

Warning below: Nice video and looks like a excellent bikes, but I have found Lectric policy everyone should know and particularly International and Canada if you read their no return policy, its basically a “buy it at your own risk” and no returns. Website Policy: You may cancel your order for a full refund up until the time you receive your shipment confirmation email with tracking information. If you cancel after your order has been sent you are responsible for the return shipping fee. In addition, the original shipping fee we incurred to send the bike to you will not be refunded (even when ‘free’ shipping is advertised). Our refund policy is ‘All Sales Final’. Unfortunately, we can’t offer a refund or exchange after the bike has shipped.

Great comparison and one potential clarification. You state both bikes are shipped set to be a class 2 bike which I know is true with Rads shipped at 32kph (@ 20mph). Then you state the Lectric can be programmed to become class 3 when set at 45kph (@ 28mph) max. and the Rad cannot achieve class 3 status with its settings only going to 40kph (@ 25mph). My understanding is any assistance above 20mph up to 28mph is class 3, so setting the Rad at 40kph (@ 25mph) does deem it to become a class 3 when set to 40. Maybe I'm misinterpreting the classifications but wanted to point that out for what it's worth. Always enjoy your videos and thanks for all the information!

@m9078jk3
@m9078jk3 3 жыл бұрын
@@danthemansmail I have ordered the XP Step Thru and I will probably get it either next week or the week after that. One of the main reasons was because I was income limited and got a $600 stimulus payment. Another reason is that the extra battery packs are about the least expensive per Kilowatt hour so I should purchase some more battery packs for long rides. Also I have a Veltop Windshield (ordered online from France) with cover attachment for riding in the rain as where I live it rains a lot. Also I have to wear leg gaiters so that road spray won't hose down my legs. I have a Pannier with a truck bag so that will keep the motor dry but I might have to look over some areas which I might have to rainproof. Using my Veltop attachment on a step thru bike it will be much easier to get on and off the bike as my overhear canvas cover attaches behind the seat. I had an issue with fiberglass connecting rods that held up the Veltop canvas cover break often so I replaced them by cutting two stainless steel CB whip antennas to the same length and using them instead. This also made the windshield more stable so it had much less of a tendency to flop forwards and backwards on rides annoyingly.. In addition when I used the stainless steel whip antennas cut to the right length it additionally mad a good deflopilator as well. I used the Veltop attachment years before and I could ride like a king on the road just like a person with a convertible car with the window rolled down. I did this for thousands of miles about 3,000 or so. I could ride in the rain when almost no other cyclists dared. The only time that I didn't ride was in high wind storms and when there was snow and ice on the roads. My last ebike (RadRover) was destroyed in a hit and run accident where someone in a pickup truck went at high speeds through a red light and I was in the crosswalk with a walk signal. I turned and saw no one in the cab (perhaps the person dropped something to pick up) and I pedaled as fast as I could to get out of the way. The driver hit my rear wheel by the motor but fortunately I missed getting hit by about a foot. The driver did slam on his or her brake after realizing they hit something but then quickly fled to avoid responsibility for an accident. So this ebike will be a replacement for what I had two years ago. The lesson that I learned is that I am going to get and pay for Velosurance (bicycle insurance) to be covered for loss and replacement which hopefully won't happen again.

I wonder if anyone who bought their XP over a year ago had a problem with the taillight grinding against the fender? I think they may have fixed this, but the clearance between my taillight and the fender is less than 1/4". If a person was to sit on it, it would br scraping the paint. I put a bunch of super long washers on mine and it pushed it out to a postion where it wasnt so bad, but it still touches. The palm grips will move.I have to twist mone back every day or so.

I actually like the Rad better right up until the price difference also, the Lectric has a V 2.0 available now with front suspension and a few other upgrades. You can really kit out the Lectric with some accessories for the same money as the Rad. Battery placement on the Rad is so much nicer IMO being able to take it out without folding the bike is a big bonus to me.

Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzfaq.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

That Letric reach to handle bars looks a lot longer than the 18” on the Rad. Width of the tire can affect for mass trans commenters, as a four” tire is a bit over the limit for hanging the bike on a hook on commuter trainers. I understand the Rad bar is tapered, so a phone mount can slide as you ride.

I am very concerned about safety and from my perspective you missed the most important difference between the 2 bikes. The Rad Mini Step thru has a break light that is active all of the time while riding. This feature plus the freewheel with a lower low gear and a higher high gear means I am going to choose the Rad over the XP. But for someone who wants to be able to convert to a class 3 easily then the Lectric would probably be the best choice though in that model I would prefer the step thru as well. There are a lot of other things I prefer on the Rad. The larger battery is a big one, the USB off the display is nice for charging a mounted phone. Having grips that allow for a mirror to be mounted to the end of the handle bar is nice, as is and having 2" more on the handlebar to mount things and it comes with a bell. The Rad has the front suspension and larger break thing and not having to mess with the Lectric's underneath key that has to stay in is a plus. I have seen reviews criticizing the Rad tires but I understand the second generation ships with knobier tires that work better off road. Unfortunately the Rad is out of stock (i/29) with no idea when they will be in.

Having the water bottle located at that spot on the Rad kind of makes the step thru a bit more difficult to mount.

Subscribed! Thank you so much for this review :-) it looks like if I'm going to spend that kind of money the Brompton electric would be better than the rad bike but this lectric bike looks like quite a peach :-)

The rad tires are better, they are knobby road tires that will give a big more stability in sand and stuff like that. K-shield is great. they cut a few corners on the Lectric to keep the cost down.

does the battery run while your peddling?
@CitizenCycle925
@CitizenCycle925 3 жыл бұрын
battery run...? do you mean is the battery losing charge as you pedal? if you have the pedal assist on then yes. and the higher the pedal assist setting, the more battery you are using.

I think that $1,000 should be a hard price point that ebikes should respect. Personally, I don’t anticipate spending that much for my needs. But north of $1k getting into to nice motorcycle or dirt bike 🏍 budget

Good review. But to really make an informed decision you really need to go into battery and motor comparison. It's kind of the most important thing.

@@CitizenCycle925 Don't let the battery run out, might ruin the battery. I force my 26" bike to help me reached my home, getting dark and the battery went dead. When I reached home I tried to charge it, it went green right away full, but its not. Bought a new battery for 300 bucks. Now I charged it after use.
