I'm so happy with my Aostirmotor A20, so simple, built like a tank, controllers are $69, extra battery $299. Life is good.

I have had my xpeak step through for a week now, the wobble is definitely caused by the frame being too flexible. Stand next to the handlebars holding the bike up by one side one hand grasping the handlebar grip and shake it from side to side .Observe the snake like shake .Oscillator from hell.This can't be fixed.Major problems are on the horizon for all of us peak owners .Im keeping my hopes up.Lectric needs to adress this issue immediately .

My bike Starts to shake at speeds over 14 mph. Lectric told me to take the front basket off and try it. I don't seem to have the issue with basket off. I thought I just needed to get adjusted to the bike. I put the basket back on and the shaking returned when in PAS 3 and 15 mph. I am going to examine the front tire and wheel closely before doing anything else.

If it's Wobbling at 14 MPH thats dangerous, Lol. what happens if you go down a hill?? thats insane. You can tell the difference between a death wobble and a bad tire mounting. the Death wobble is correlated to speed and weight distribution. It happens and is uncontrollable. The tire being mounted incorrectly would be a constant thing regardless of speed

I have the xpeak step through. My bike has the wobble bad. It looks to be a geometry issue of the frame and weight deference between the front and rear of bike especially when you put the baskets on. I have videos of it doing it. I have checked tires for alignment. All good. Tried inflating and deflating pressure. It really gets away if you happen to need to take one hand off bars are need to stand up to ride over bumps. If you shift your weight while petaling it gets can get away from you are if you hit bumps in road it causes it the wobble. The petals thing can become a problem if you use your bike off road and you need to maneuver quickly on a trail. After all it is a mountain bike type and is supposed to be rated for that. Also if you have one of your feet in the down position on one side like you would in a turn where you need to lean to that side the down petal and or your foot will hit ground. I bought bike to be used off road for trails and hunting. Also if anyone plans on using it off road be sure to watch cables under crank rocks and debris can hit cables one cut them they are not protected.

Your foot hitting the fender(or sometimes tire) is called toe overlap. The biggest danger is pedaling while doing a u-turn, catching your foot and going down. Especially if you are leaning through the u-turn. It could also happen when riding it on a mountain bike trail with tight turns. Especially if you are climbing and have to pedal while turning.

I have the XPeak Step Thru and have put 335 miles on it in about a month of riding! I found the toe rub when I first rode mine! But to me, I adjusted my foot placement on the pedal and it has never rubbed again. I ride 20 or more miles most days and on both paved and dirt/gravelly surfaces. I can cause the bike frame to shudder by shaking the handlebars but I have never had the bike do it on its own on any surface! I do find the bike to be a bit close front to back in the step thru area especially with a water bottle holder mounted! And I would greatly benefit from raising my handlebars about 4 to 6 inches! I have had a shoulder replacement and putting my upper body weight on my arms for an extended time is uncomfortable! The tubes and wires exposed in front of the handlebars have some slack in them which leads me to believe the handlebars could be raised or a different bar used so I can sit in a more upright position! The only thing which I found with my XPeak was the rear brake was not right! It had little stopping power. I took it to a local bike shop and the mechanic bled the lines and found a lot of trapped air. Once that was removed the brakes work like they should! I tried my bike as a type 3 for a short time but found that speed was great but the distance I could travel was cut too short for my satisfaction! As a type 2 bike, I can get 25 to 30 miles easily!

Wobble is almost always due to steering geometry or too much weight on the front. I see the forks actually angle back, which makes the forks more vertical so the bike turns faster and with less effort, but then increases the wobble chances. I've felt it on motorcycles where it's called a "tank slapper" and it wants to get worse as it happens. (think about it, if the forks weren't so vertical it would also move the fender away from your foot, the sacrifice being quick, light steering) As far as the rack cracks and bolts sheared, want to bet that box was dropped in shipping, maybe upside down? All the weight of the bike falling on the rack cracked it and sheered off the bolts. It's also why your plug is unplugged, the rack is moving up and down. If it was me, I'd use an "easy out" where you drill a smaller hole in the bolt, then screw in an extractor which is threaded backwards, so tightening the extractor loosens the bolt. An alternate solution is to drill out the bolt, enlarge the hole and tap it for a larger diameter bolt. (probably easier since it's accessible on both sides.)

I think the missing bolts made the rack move and that's what caused the plug to come undone. I think that was a fair assessment. I own a EX 1.0 4" fat tire and I love it. It has been all over the US. my wife speed wobbled into a curb we were driving along side of on a different bike and shattered her knee at 15-20mph. I've switched both of my xpeaks to street tread hycline tires. if this turns out to be an issue with the geometry I'm going to be very upset. especially if the beta bikes definitely did not behave that way. if i was lectric I'd be very concerned, especially about the step thru. between that and the front fender getting kicked by feet doing simple things like making a u turn... I'm really quite surprised this made it to production like this. I've seen so many videos of this company and they always seem involved and on top of their product. :-/ first attempts at a new market can be rough. but a 26" fat tire hardtail isn't exactly unknown territory. the geometry shouldn't have been this much of a problem.

Those are major problems in my eye. First that is a design flaw on the pedals being that close to the tires. Not planned very well. Second the wobble is not a good thing . Has to be a weight limit on the bike and if its anything over 225 it can't be good. There is not enough metal to support anything more than that. Think this bike was made for lightweight people period. Good video!

Have you ever ridden a bike? Dude's foot placement is WRONG. Pedal should be close to tip of foot. Look at clip-in pedals, pedal is directly under ball of toes. Not the arch, not the heel. This is a body mechanics issue. Not the bike. Pedaling with pedal in arch or rear of foot, removes calve muscles from the process. Losing a major muscle group you should be using while cycling.

From the couple of videos I've seen the death wobble issue isn't from turning back and forth, it's happening on its own and is pretty bad. I also read of several people who discovered some plastic spacer missing to be the cause of the problem. The ones who hadn't already discarded the box and packing material found the spacer stuck to the brake rotor protector the bike ships with. As for the headlight I've seen some that have mounted the bracket upside down to get the headlight under the wires. I don't think the front wheel clearance would be a problem for me because I've never ridden with my size 13 feet that far forward. Definitely something everyone should be aware of though. Thanks for always doing reviews people can depend on, pointing out the good and bad whether a company gives you the bike to test or you buy it yourself. Lectric seems to be a case of having good products but in many cases only after you work out all the issues that should have been caught by quality control.

Overall geometry is not balanced. Rake of front forks being too close to vertical in reference to center post balance point helps for more Nimble movement but comes with negatives, such as road balance and Self centering characteristics. Very difficult to prevent frame flex with step-thru due to brace limitations. This is one reason they are so robust, especially around welds and gussets. Longer rake angel of only a few degrees will dampen and bring wobble under control, but this is an engineering failure and can vary with speed, weight bumps, loads and many variables. Solid, none flex frame is best start. Don’t try to use a One Bike Suit All

I put the front rack on and have the light mounted to that but, truth be told, I think the light is a bit of a joke. Probably going to remove it again. My handlebar light that I use on my other regular bikes is much better. I haven’t noticed the tire rub on mine but my feet aren’t as big as yours and my pedaling is consistently on the balls of my feet. My only complaint is the stock pedals. They don’t bite my shoes as well as my regular mtb pedals and I cant replace the studs. In all I’m happy with mine. Everything that I’m going to change on it was something I was planning on changing when I put the order in.

The bike was designed to be a mountain bike, not a street bike. The 26-inch by 4-inch tires will surely give you a wobble especially if you mount something heavy on the front. The big tires are designed for off-road riding for better grip on loose gravel and dirt. As for the turning, I do not see the issue with my feet hitting the wheel because I always keep my feet in the up-and-down position on any bike I ride electric or regular pedal.
@cellsafemode

so you always don't pedal when turning around from say, a stop? you always throttle only in such cases while doing something like a u turn or only do such turns with a max of like 15 - 20 degrees? please. this company knows this bike will be used on the road more than not. even it's other non-mtb bikes has such off road type 4 inch wide tires. and i have other 26x4+ bikes that are fine and don't behave as poorly. as do many other people. edit: also, this wobble behaviour is being felt with no basket or anything additional attached to the bike. it's an issue baked into the frame and amplified by the tire and surface ridden on.

That’s a butt joint in the rack where they didn’t grind it smooth. What you’re seeing is a slight offset of one end from the other, not a crack. However, a butt joint can come undone. The bottom bolts on the rack likely sheared off because they didn’t design in accommodation for some misalignment between the bolt holes in the rack and the bike frame. There are multiple ways to do this. They could have made holes in the rack slightly larger or slots instead of holes. They could have designed in adjustable arms for two of the four connection points. It appears they have four rigid connection points. Combined with a significant misalignment at the lower bolt holes, that creates a lot of shear stress at those before you even load anything onto the rack. Bad design compounded by sometimes iffy (in terms of meeting design tolerances) manufacturing.

It shook back and forth so bad I thought I was gonna completely lose it. I stopped and checked everything. All wheels were tight. Appreciate the info! If I had to guess I would imagine the step through frame is too flexible and starts an oscillation between the front part of the frame and the back. Probably varies with the weight of the rider. Would love to hear if the regular frame has a wobble? I am thinking no.
@cellsafemode
@cellsafemode 3 ай бұрын
it's less, to the degree where it might not occur in the wild and only while specifically testing. switched to street tires instead of dirt. resonance is basically non existent on the step over. the same tires on the step thru reduce that oscillation feeling such that it dies much quicker and it is harder to get going, but you can definitely tell you are on a more flexible frame. if you trail ride... this vibration issue probably won't impact you. if you ride on asphalt and have the step thru... maybe lower tire pressure to try and have the tires absorb the energy so it doesn't stay in the frame. I'll be able to retest with my new tires once it stops raining for a day in California. fyi, when testing the stock tires, i was at about 18psi. and i had done a rough truing up of the wheels prior. also, i kind of plan on cutting the bottom lip of the front fender off so there is clearance for my feet. People can say what they want about the plausibility of encountering death wobble in the real world, having your foot hit the fender when doing a basic u turn is not acceptable. and this is something i encountered within the first 10 minutes of riding. i can't think of a single bike I've ever had where i can kick the front tire while pedaling even if i was trying.

I bought a Heybike Brawn a year and a half ago. I'm on the second motor and third set of planetary gears and the third display. Second motor went out and Heybike won't honor their two year warranty. I enjoy the bike honestly. It performs very well if they'd put metal gears in the motor instead of plastic that'd solve the motor failure issue. Replacement motor is $899 plus shipping costs and luckily my warranty covered that one. I got about 500 miles on the second motor and it failed too. Heybike won't even respond with anything other than I have to replace the motor again. I bought replacement gears after alot of internet surfing and $30 fixes the $899 motor...... but Heybike doesn't offer replacement gears. I see the streets lined with broken down ebikes because of a plastic gear that costs the buyer $899 if they can't find parts. Otherwise, I like the Brawn for everyday commuting and exercise. The Heybike has good power and speed and is basically in a good price range and most ebikes with hubdrives have the plastic planetary gears and the company that switches to a more reliable metal gear is going to be the top competitor for long-term success. I'm a idiot though and sort of a conservationist too.

Foot placement. Stop pedaling with your pedal in middle to rear of foot. You completely remove calve muscles from the equation. So that toe touching tire issue, is body mechanics, not the bike. I just beat my bike on and off-road yesterday, down a flight of steps, high speed, low speed. None of the issues people have wined about. Frame is plenty stiff and zero wobble. I swear some youtube channels make their entire shtick all about being negative towards popular products. Its damned fine product, ESPECIALLY at it's price-point. Its too bad you want to blame KZfaqrs for speaking the truth. Many of the first batch models have serious problems. Just because yours did not, does not mean we are whining about it. Have a good day.

@@EbikeReviews to quote "first batch models". Few new items that hit the market in their early days are perfect. Some outright dangerous (we all remember certain smartphone batteries getting spicy). What's important is the company see's the issues and corrects them. Far too many KZfaqrs are quick to harsh on a company's new product (as though it's the final version) for the sake of views. Trillion dollar (Apple) manufacturers still have issues, is it too much to think smaller manufacturers wouldn't also have issues?

absolutely correct, I bought many items after negative remarks and extreme harsh non real life test reviews and have found the items perform as manufactured stated. (not all items but a good 90 percent performance very well).

if you look at the website, the big headlamp is supposed to be used with the front basket, otherwise, you use the smaller light and the wires run under it.

Highstep bike is an inch longer overall and it appears most of that is in the front frame providing pedal clearance. The stiffer highstep frame should also reduce wobble

I’m glad I decided on the Wallke X3 pro instead 1200 W nominal 2000 W peak no wobble whatsoever. What baffles me is that this is a really big company and a big seller of e- bikes and they dropped the ball on this one for sure. And to put the cherry on top, this has a poor headlight and rear light.

Thank you Richard for the review. I'm not in the market for a new bike, but I'm disappointed in this one per your review, especially the front wheel / pedal interference.

RE Specs: Provider has specs on website. Did you review them prior to purchasing? RE Turning: You need to learn how to properly turn. I also question your handle bar height. RE Stop Bar: I've yet to experience any wobbling. Perhaps you need to go to a bike shop and have it professionally fit? RE Connectors; Are you certain you are connecting them properly as I have yet to have one disconnect? RE Commentary: Perhaps you should consider generating you audio separately after you've created an outline to go by?

there's no reality where turning and pedaling should ever result in your foot being able to hit the front tire (fender in this case). there's no 'you're turning wrong' aspect to it. this isn't some niche specialty bike that has to be driven a special way. your display connector should have come disconnected. the only other one mentioned by the poster was one likely pulled apart due to the rear rack moving, since that connector is wire tied on one side to the rack and the frame on the other. i have the step over and step thru. the step thru.. it's extremely easy to notice the bike will oscillate/resonate with very little to trigger. the high step has this happen to a much less extent. i think the tread of the tire contributes as you are balancing on narrow tall nubs with decent gaps between... so they are isolated on all sides. but the frame itself is probably the bigger factor.

The death wabble is when you have no hands on the bars
@EBikeBuilder_
@EBikeBuilder_ 3 ай бұрын
the 'death wobble' is an uncontrollable thing, usually related to speed.. and weight distribution. It's not anything anyone does on purpose. Its probably happening to people who are going fast on the bike and perhaps standing up, sitting down, leaning etc. i have heard of people having 'death wobble' on step through bikes. Probably most common when going fast down a hill and perhaps with a heavier rider.

Wobble is due to design specs. Balance is in frame length and strengths poor/regular design

The biggest blame is on the weight of the bike. It should be at least 72 pounds with the battery.

Every step thru has some wobble. It's basic physics. I'll never own a step thru mountain bike. Every bike I have is a step over. Much more stable.

The rack cracked and the cable came apart because the rack is/was loose. If the threaded bolt was completely removed (broken rack bolts) you could have at least put a cotter pin thru the rack/bolt hole to keep it a bit more stable. That or you could have made a quick trip to any hardware store for temporary bolts of the correct size. That would have prevented all the problems to the rear of your bike. The wobble? Well, where the front of the bike goes, the rear will follow. Don’t shake your steering wheel! Why would you? Where in normal riding does that maneuver come to play? Turning that sharp, almost 90deg, you probably wouldn’t be peddling anyway. And, you’d be going slow enough to naturally position your peddles out of the way…inner peddle is fully up, outer peddle is fully down. Man, I’ve not seen such meaningless whines about anything.
