Hey TOM... I have fallen in love with construction management just because of you. Thanks for giving me my life love. I'm from Pakistan i will graduate on 20th of July exactly after 5 days in civil engineering. What are the skills that i need to enter into construction managemer world? I KNOW a lot of skills are needed to be learned.I'm asking what should be entry point? Currently i only knew thretoical things like beams and columns, etc. You are doing a great work by transferring your valuable knowledge to future of construction world...

Hello Tom, thank you for the info. I’m currently looking in to a career in construction management. About me, I have a BA in Criminal Justice. But that’s not why I’m interested in it. I’m a journeyman union pipefitter, welder, plumber, and hvac tech. I did a five year apprenticeship and am looking for more education to grow my way into a management position. Any info would greatly appreciated.

Interesting video. I watched the whole thing. I have question ,though. If I want to build a house on a 10 acre property, I obviously want to build it as central as possible without building atop a flood plain. Who can do this work for me, I mean, giving me an idea of where to build? Who do I contact about clearing that land after we've figured that out?
@TomStephensontraining3 жыл бұрын
Hi Coahuil, You could go several ways, an architect or architectural technologist that specializes in house design, they can recommend a good builder in your area or a design build contractor that designs and constructs the home based on your inputs. If it is a design build contractor arrange that once the design is complete you can also get pricing on the cost of building from others to compare. You make like my residential videos and my Understanding Construction for Housing and Small Buildings Textbook links are all below, hope it helps. www.amazon.ca/Understanding-Construction-Drawings-Housing-Business/dp/0176796169/ref=sr_1_2? crid=1OYFEK6X1O0T6&dchild=1&keywords=understanding+construction+drawings+for+housing+and+small+buildings&qid=1623105023&sprefix=Understanding+Housing+and+%2Caps%2C161&sr=8-2 Residential Construction Videos Introduction to Residential Construction kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sMldf5yg1cm6mX0.html Lecture 1A Site Plans kzfaq.info/get/bejne/osmWfql-29KYg2g.html Lecture 1B Permits kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7uAeNKdusrepmQ.html Lecture 2A Foundations kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jLqCatlmlrXDaIk.html Lecture 2B Foundations: Damp & Water Proofing kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l7Kno9armruUZmg.html Lecture 3A Dimensional Lumber and Floors kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qaeCh8KUna6Yqmg.html Lecture 3B Dimensional Lumber Floor Framing kzfaq.info/get/bejne/esxjipaalsCrhqc.html Lecture 3C Engineered floors kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbqSit14m96zoqM.html Lecture 4A Walls kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jdmidcp3mcCpmH0.html Lecture 4B Walls and Floor connections kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jseiasxzt9WUhmQ.html Lecture 5A Cut Roofs kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gLyBhbWEuNSlhqM.html Reference Cut Roof video (6min) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/obhmnqqmy8uveYk.html Lecture 5B Truss Roofs kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oeCSlJt6vMicg2w.html Reference Truss Framing Video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/psyWnppiqr2okYk.html Lecture 5C Constructability kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d-B5iKV1zr-8l30.html Lecture 6A Exterior Finishes kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rtuhkrGe0aeWlYU.html Lecture 6B Concrete and Roofs kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aNaqlLynyNqmhYk.html Assignment overview kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j7CJg7aY1N7XZ5s.html Lecture 6C Detail Drawings Brook dwgs kzfaq.info/get/bejne/icWFqLCaqMm-qoU.html Mid Term Review kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y9tgkrl_3L24eKs.html Lecture 7A Plumbing and HVAC kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pZZdqt1zrrLQYqc.html Lecture 7B Electrical and Green Bldg Systems kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j7Kqqrpm28rJpIk.html Lecture 8A Building Envelope kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kNageN2hqNacaI0.html Lecture 8B Insulation kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eNmAgZdhucDOZ6M.html Lecture 8C Reading dwgs brook, don, systems kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iq2fh5CLqLrMgo0.html Lecture 9A Interior Finishes kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i991fNl80ZamnZs.html Lecture 9B Stairs kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtSFgcpluNzcYqc.html Lecture 10A Stair Calculation whiteboard kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d8pha8dhybKWpZs.html Lecture 10B Stairs and the OBC kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNZgpami3bKwdps.html Lecture 11A Renovation kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ppiRjNupkrubh4k.html Lecture 11B Multi Unit kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rrqlgcp5uarYmnk.html Lecture 12 Review kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbSDoraUyNrLn3k.html

Hey Prof Stephenson! Thank you so much for the lecture series. One small request: could you share some resources about the shoring system you have mentioned at 25:00 I googled for a while and read up on the column mounted shoring systems, i want to learn more. It really piqued my curiosity since I have never seen such a thing, although google says they have been around since the 70's 😂 if you have some keywords that I should research off the top of your head that would be perfect! Thank you so much!
