"you will model for them how to study the Bible". This is so true. 2 years ago I started listening to John Piper's "Look at the Book" (LAB) videos. I started with the Ephesians LAB. It took me two years to get through it. A lot of videos and I took a lot of notes. Not only was it an eye-opener, I learned by watching him how to read and study my bible well. Those LABs he does are amazing!

Thank you for posting this video class. No expositor's academy here in our place and one of the reason why apostate churches are escalating.

When you present the Cross, the spectacle demands the unsaved soul to look and the Holy Spirit then presses down on them and demands a choice be made. It is not man, but the Holy Spirit. Preaching presents the Cross, the requirement to repent, and instruction and on how to receive Christ. No amount of study can teach this. Jesus said follow me. He preached repentance more than anything else, the rest of what he said pointed back to what the prophets said.

How about expository preaching through the attributes of God and looking at each passage of each attribute?

Not a lecture on the investigative phase... but still helpful. Misleading title.

I tend to disagree with you, @sbutler409. Mechanics are all about how small things works together to drive a big thing. He's talking about how the specifics of preaching effects the whole church. He's talking about mechanics.

I am not a reformist, but I am an expository preacher. I have enjoyed the teaching, but have noticed that you have mentioned following your mentors 1000 times, and never mention listening to The Holy Spirit. That is troubling. Also, I am not a charismatic, but I do believe that pastors should be listening to the prompting of God, instead of systematic teaching.

I think you need to listen to him a little closer. He only goes to His mentors in as far as they are correct in Scripture and this is only for the good practice of preaching & doctrine. All is secondary to the Word and the Holy Spirit’s work. This is homiletics and he is getting into the practical aspect.

I am not from the church of Christ but he totally exposed to me his thinking when he called a whole denomination non-Christian because he disagrees with their theology I know many people from the church of Christ who are most definitely Christians but he is so deep in his Calvinist thinking he thinks they are the only ones saved. Also trends to be Baptist thinking in general.(not meant to be offensive to Baptist I love all brothers and sisters in Christ and willing to understand not all will agree) not to mention you can’t categorize all from church of Christ to think the same or all Baptist to think the same. This man seems to have some very good sound teaching and preaching but I feel like men in his position have to be especially careful to stay humble

Without a Calvinist decoder ring: John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. With a Calvinist decoder ring: John 3:16 For God ONLY loved the ELECT CALVINIST world that he gave his one and only Son, that ONLY THE ELECT CALVINIST WHO ARE FORCED TO believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life. @Keith Worley I know the truth is hard to take! "God arranges all things by his sovereign counsel, in such a way that individuals are born, who are doomed from the womb to certain death and are to glorify him by their destruction.( John Calvin Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 23, Paragraph 6)

@@truth7416this video isn’t even about calvinism. Your comments on John3:16 are strawmen and slanderous of a Biblical christian/Calvinist. You don’t need to be a Calvinist to be elect. Calvin certainly never said that, and what you just quoted from Calvin is in Roman’s 9

@@jeremyjohnson4106 The group that are the body of Christ are called the 'ELECT" they didn't win the Calvinist salvation lottery they PLACED their faith in Jesus. Reformed Theology is just another Cult pretending to be Christianity! Just like the catholics, Mormons, and Jehovah Witnesses. They use the same Bible as a Christian does but then puts the cultish spin on the truth with their founders heresy. This from the Reformed calvinist founders own mouth should convince anyone outside of the Reformed Calvinist cult to watch out and steer clear of there heresy's! God arranges all things by his sovereign counsel, in such a way that individuals are born, who are doomed from the womb to certain death and are to glorify him by their destruction.( John Calvin Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 23, Paragraph 6) “…salvation is freely offered to some while others are barred from access to it.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 5) “We call predestination God’s eternal decree, by which he compacted with himself what he willed to become of each man. For all are not created in equal condition; rather, eternal life is fore-ordained for some, eternal damnation for others.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 21, Calvinists believe God created all things, and controls all things, predetermined all things, and made all things exactly the way they are.... thus god also created evil. Therefore since Calvinists believe god created evil, they are blaspheming against the holy spirit ... the only unforgivable sin. Calvinists also believe the only people who will be saved have been predetermined by God. and since Calvinists believe God predetermined who will be saved ... they have removed free will - the gift of God to humans, and removed Jesus from the equation. Since God (according to Calvinists) has already determined who will be saved ... (and who will not be saved) ... those who will be saved do not need Christ and those who will not be saved cannot come to Christ. Thus Calvinists are not Christians. Truth in Love
