the regeneration affect strictly depends on the thermal management system because the one important thing which plays a major role in battery's life is temperature. Regeneration is a process to recharge battery by converting mechanical energy into electrical energy and in recharging process obviously temperature (you need to maintain) and BMS to ensure the battery is getting evenly charged, because un even charging may lead to detoriation in life of the pack (aggressively)

Good question. Battery Cycle life is defined by say 100% DoD (depth of discharge) charging & discharging. DoD and Cycle life have nonlinear relationship. Say if a battery is 100% DoD done, battery life is 2k cycle, then the same battery if done 80% DoD (say 10%-90% SOC cycling) then life will be 4k. Also during regeneration, only a fraction of it chargers battery usually 15 to 20%. While this will affect the cycle life, the contribution is very negligible due to above reasons.

Motor does not rotate in the reverse direction while regeneration.

@@harish7176 It's depends vector angle between the quadrature axis component and direct axis component. Generally VCU decide the regeneration negative torque requirement based on all conditions and inverter blend the voltage and current which required to feed the battery. Battery acceptance also checked for the recuperation feeding.

during the braking of the vehicle , the power convertor sends less voltage than the voltage developed due to the kinetic energy of the vehicle. This allows power flow from vehicle to battery.
