the led bulb gives off way too much ambient light compared to the fluorescent bulb, so if you just want to make things glow, but also have clear vision to see where you're going, like at an indoor black light putput golf course, or a haunted house then led is great. If you want to be immersed in darkness while things around you glow, then florescent is the way to go.

The thing I notice is that with the fluorescent black light you only see the reflective objects the walls are not lit up like they are with the LED light. It lights everything up. Some black light effects require everything not illuminated in the glow to be black for example a dancer wearing white may not want his skin to be visible.

Great review, you should consider collecting Antique Uranium glass, it is often cheap to buy and looks great under black light.

Thanks for this! I just bought an LED black light bulb called the "Sunlite" Blacklight Blue blub which I think runs around 10 W. It looks similar to the one you have except the glass dome is clear and you can see the little LED light mounted in the center. Have you ever tested that one?

+voicetube How did the LED bulb work out for you? I have the same brand bulb but the non LED version. I'm not really happy with its strength. Was wondering if I should get the LED one but that one seems to light up more of the darks (non flourescent). Would be appreciated if you shared your experience.

It doesn't give off alot of heat right? I know the incandescent one definitely does but I want to buy the GE 7w led blacklight for my amazon tree boa for nighttime viewing, it's a waste if its going to raise the temperature in the enclosure significantly.

the metal base where the circuitry is puts out some heat. but its not even close to the heat put out by an incandescent.

I own 2 florescent tube black light one 24 inch and one 48 inch I have the 48 inch zip tied on my adj lts 50 truss system with my other lights plugged in on my sc8 ii power relay system clamped on my light stand

they discontinued this model of bulb. unfortunately i cant find anything close. if i was going to buy black light bulbs today id get some of the old school twisty compact fluorescent type bulbs.

This is false. The LED bulb produce more visible light but much weaker UV light then the fluorescent lamp. The fluorescent lamp is the clear winner here.

the idea of a blacklight is that you can see it, not how much UV.

You are absolutely right. UV is what you want from a blacklight. Visible light distorts UV.

@@edhorton2766 the purpose at least for me in what I want in my blacklight blue uv is not visible light lighting up non reactive uv items but to see only the reactive uv items such as posters and paint. Good 365 nm lights peak at this spectrum . You see barely anything but the uv items. That is the one I want. Most items sold as black light are in the 385-400. They light the room up too much but some people want a purple room along with being reactive to uv items. Just depends on what application you want. I have yet to get anything other than the florescent swirl bulb and it is not going to cut it. Still trying to decide on how much my budget will be for the tubes or led tape.

ok i see you have a bulb like mine, question when you look at the bulb wtf are the lil sperm looking things floating around? no jokes im serious ! i even showed a friend and he was clueless also, it seems like they everywhere but the blacklight just allows us to see them. anyone else ever see this and ive only see this w and backlight LED bulb
