Good stuff Lee. Keep in mind that LED isn’t strong enough to fully penetrate emulsions for long waterbased runs either, and that the multiple strips maybe be contributing to the undercutting more than just the film. Fastest emulsion, and thinner EOM may help reduce it! 👍🏼

Cory @ Floodway Print Co. you can always put it back on your exposure unit for a minute of two. But our backup plan is a bit more unconventional. We have a grow house with a bun rack inside. We turn on the UV’s and re-expose 10 at a time until ready for setup.

Hi there! Just found your channel and I really enjoy your content! very well done! Im a military veteran and active duty spouse with some past experience in low-tec screen printing, and i have a question for ya - My local military base is having issues with the guy who screen prints the shirts for base personnel and they want to find a new printer soon. What kind of set up would you recommend if I take this on? They need around 250 shirts every week or so. One or two designs on short sleeves, long sleeves, hoodies, crew neck sweaters, and sometimes child sizes. The art work for these are done by military personnel, but will always need some tweaking to make them screen printable. The guy they have now hires a local tattoo artist to "fix" the original art for him. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Try 15secs to get these hair-like fine lines. Also make emulsion as thin as possible by doing coat-coat-scrape-scrape (I'm using Saati TExTIL PV) . I've built my own 395nm 300-UVLED 8 rows of LED strips, 5cm distance in between, can definitely make hairline details even without vacuum. Also, that much pressure causes jagged details like @10:20, or is it due to the positive you used? Use gentler sprayer, and you'll see the difference. You're inspirational LS38! Hero fosho! Shop is fukin A!!!
@leestuart38
@leestuart38 4 жыл бұрын
That slight bit of jagged stuff is in the positive too. 15 secs would be far too low on this unit even with a super thin coat, 25 secs was really the limit before it was far too underexposed.
@skipperay
@skipperay 4 жыл бұрын
@@leestuart38 I see, one factor could be distance of the glass from the led strip. I got mine around 5 inches, where beam is not too spread out, not too focused - just the sweet spot. The UV LEDs used could be a factor as well, and the emulsion used. I start to lose fine halftone dots at around 40-60secs, but generally cooks 12seconds - like perfectly. Anyway, that's a sweet box right there! #38squad

@@leestuart38 Bro, can you try printing out hairlines in Rich Black (C60 M40 Y40 K100) on a Epson Matte (or equivalent) + High quality, and print it out straight out of AI (not using Accurip) (Also must be in CMYK color mode). The blocking ink lesser than this can be be prone to UV penetration. (RGB black is too thin at this UV level of play. Haha)

I had the same unit you did and am to upgrade to the LED as well in a month. I always have that problem of emulsion not washing off the ink side of the screen and leaving that film. Does this LED unit stop that since it burns through all the emulsion? Also, how did you get that excess emulsion/film off when it happened? I'd normally have to re-degrease the screen after drying it to get rid of it. Please let me know, thanks! Congrats on the upgrade BTW.
@oakcitycreativearts
@oakcitycreativearts 4 жыл бұрын
This sound like over-exposure or not using enough water pressure when rinsing. It's a delicate balance. Different printers will give you different tips. But don;t be afraid to take your clean hands and "massage" the emulsion out of the stencil if need be. Because if your film can't hold up to the skin on your hands, then it definitely won't hold up to the squeegee.
@jkhunnicutt
@jkhunnicutt 4 жыл бұрын
@@oakcitycreativearts Thanks. You're right about the balance. I do use my fingers to rub the emulsion off, but I probably could use more water pressure. I use a garden hose on "shower" rather than a pressure washer.

Nice video, but actually it appears all they did was change out the florescent bulbs and install UV LED tube light bulbs. And you don't need any new ballast, you actually have to disconnect any ballast or started to use these builds. The description says: The LED bulbs MUST be directly wired to the 120V AC Power! Please disconnect Ballast (& Starter if there is any) before plugging in the bulb. So, most likely, you could install these new UV LED bulbs in your old exposure uint yourself if you are handy? The vacuum unit and timer would work without modification, see the wiring instructions in the Amazon link. www.amazon.com/Fulight-Blacklight-Tube-Light-Clear/dp/B06XZNVH42
