LED lights, in general, have made an incredible impact on The World's Power Supplies. Our grid would fail easily without just about everyone using these household bulbs. The capabilities of LED Grow light fixtures have never been better, and have exceeded any expectations I had. A simple system, or one that can mimick outdoor light by slightly dimming, along with Grow, Bloom, and even customizable light fixtures. Shane has reviewed them all. I like my simple fixtures. Great Spectrum, efficiency, and canopy spread. Best results I've had and almost 40% less power used!

Yep I remember use a 160 watt CFL for a simple lamp. Then it went to about a 100 and slowly making it down to 60 and 70 watts . And damn if those glass and cfl bulbs didvt pop every month or so.. I ain’t changed my led bulbs in over 5 years and it’s ones I put in were 9 watts. Big difference to the old 160 glass and 100 CFLs

Thanks, Shane. Of course, if you grow during heating months and do not vent to the outside, that heat will help warm your home. So it really doesn't cost as much to grow as the amount you are spending on lighting electricity if it is heating your home.

This is really great advice and the 800 mols/sec is spot on imo, A really good way to save electric is to talk about a veg room size and the amount of light really needed compared to the flower room , my veg light uses about 50w and covers 60cm x 40cm canopy @18,000 lux(full spectrum), there enough room to use 6 x 7.5ltr square pots and veg to plants to about 12" high/8" wide, pot up and straight in flower, 9 clones/seedlings could veg under a single 10w led bulb(4000k) in 4" pots with reflective walls and a usb fan aimed down as they need 8-12,000 lux only the last 2 weeks do they need potting up and need the extra light.

to maximise efficiency you could start with the lights at their minimum requirement of growth stage.like seedlings for the first week under 10 watts jumping up to 50% power after repotting into final space..after 1 week increase to 75% and at week 2 increase to full power until 2 weeks before finish where you could reduce light back to 75%...and if you use a flower innitiator you can flower 11/13 saving another hour per day.

most places in europe the price is lower at night. i only pay the tax in nighttime, the electricity is free.. and solar energy does begin to make sense 70-90w for the rest is a bit underrated for most people.. (no matter what that is all the time unlike most lamps).. and then a ec fan that uses 1/3 make sense, specially because its on all the time.. the producers also need to make longer sunset and sunrise, many places have cheap energy for 6 hours at night

I live in Texas where we have plenty of energy but my bill went up so much just this year, I don't see how gardening on a small scale will be affordable if the costs continues to rise while large scale operations can produce on a much larger scale at a fraction of the price. There is something fun about growing your own but the nostalgia won't be enough to justify the cost at a certain point. It sucks cuz I was just getting back into the hobby. There has been so little development in energy production and infrastructure that we are finally paying the price.

@@MIGROLIGHT I doubt it once the price caps go up in October. 80% increase in production costs. Whilst the stuff sold on the streets isn't grown using electeicity that is paid for.

@@MIGROLIGHT If the profit is negligible with everything else involved: Time, commitment, Risks, the law, having your home and space back, family visits, not worrying about getting robbed by feral gangs, possibility of losing crops to various problems (bugs , disease), power outages could be a problem too. Have to ask if it's really worth it anymore. The cost to buy it is still around the same if not cheaper than it was 20 years ago. Better letting someone else deal with the agro and do a few shifts of work at a job and pay them.

you base this on 450w of led, is that like 4x 120w(quantums) led's (they say are 1000w) or is it one dimmed half power?
@HeyHeyHarmonicaLuke
@HeyHeyHarmonicaLuke Жыл бұрын
More like 4x120w quantums. That's 480 true watts, and the '1000w each' thing is a gimmick lie. The vid is using 450w true watts.

@@HeyHeyHarmonicaLuke thanks, it's what I thought, I thought i'd need at least 4 to match a 600hps, & even then it would still be good to give them some of the hps.
@HeyHeyHarmonicaLuke
@HeyHeyHarmonicaLuke Жыл бұрын
@@manufacturingdissent666 Yep! They basically match on light output while the LED's extra efficiency can save electricity bill over time, as the video points out. If you have cold winters, that's when the 600hps gets an advantage with its extra heat output. It sort of comes down to whether you need to run extra heating or air conditioning cooling, as to which works best. :) :) If you live in the arctic circle hps would probably be best year round :P

I'm unsure as to why all these guys do so many video repeating the same info in a slightly different angle. Migro is a great resource. I understand he's got to make money from his lights which rock. Surely an informational video once a week would be enough there's not that much innovation in lighting each week. I'd love to see full gardens with his lights. How his succulents get so bushy and what he finds works for his Indoor plants as a gardener not a businessman. That said these numbers as so close to reality it's trippy.
