the GME UHF CB radios are good there is better but they work line of sight the reason truck drivers here went to them is coz they're FM so have better sound quality and factory fitted cb's were just that factory fitted never tuned or aligned antenna never saw an SWR meter you will never be able to speak internationally on a UHF CB like many people still do on a 27 mhz CB radio better off in the USA getting a "Big Rig" series Galaxy (yes I know Galaxy usually Suck out of the box) get the CB Mod done and have it properly aligned and if you get on LSB you can talk around the world I have Spoke to Hawaii Northern Cali and heard UK from east coast Australia with a Trucker series Wilson on my truck and a 5 foot Firestik 2 on my car the best you will get out of a gme UHF is about 200 KM on a dead flat dead straight road the Longest straight in the world is 90 mile and its in Western Australia you would also have to get that radio aligned as well which most people dont do the down side of UHF is if you are serious about on/off roading you need to change the antenna depending on terrain The hi gain ie 6 or 9 Db gain antenna work wonders on flat ground but struggle in Hilly or mountain terrain whereas a 3 db gain antenna works great in those terrains but doesnt have anywhere near the range on flat open terrain there is 2 options have an antenna splitter switch and 2 antennae fitted full time or get the dual gain kit which is an elevated feed ground plane independant base with two interchangeable whips I hope this helps you know more about our systems sorry I went on so long
