You really want a cool experience? React to their entire Denmark concert which has songs from their first album. It was recorded in 1969 and is about a half hour long. The entire thing is on KZfaq. It shows them as Rock Gods still in the making; young, hungry, and raw. Even if you have to break it up a bit, it's worth it. I'm a big Zep fan and would never steer you wrong.

Helene here. Zeppelin came to the States for the first time around. Christmas 1968 and started as the supporting band for others. Their first album was released in America early January 1969. They hit San Francisco and stopped everybody in their tracks and blew up the music scene. They returned to England for several concerts...at the same time recording Zeppelin II while on the road. They came back to The States later in 1969 and by the end of that year they were HUGE...filling arenas. They conquered America in less than a year and gobsmacked everybody, including the guys in Zeppelin. They knew they were an exceptional band from the get-go, but they hit like a rocket.....straight up.....breathtaking. Rather like The Beatles five years earlier, but in Zeppelin’s case due to strictly albums, underground radio (the new FM channels) and word of mouth....no singles on AM radio, no TV appearances.1970 brought international stardom and as they say the rest is music history....and legend.

My man, what you need to do if you haven't already is listen to each Zep album start to finish, starting with Led Zeppelin 1, released in 1969. You will get the bigger picture and expereince the greatness of a full album and an impressive, versatile catalog of music. They are simply the greatest rock band. You can thank me later.

He got better and better with the Cello bow each time he used it through the years. This is pretty descent sound for the period.

Led Zeppelin was on a different level. Like so many other British bands from that period, they were firmly rooted in American music--especially Blues. They were all students of the Blues. But they added that heavy element--Jimmy Page referred to the dynamic of "light and shade"--gentle, pretty passages, mated with powerful, heavy riffage. They incorporated multiple styles of music into their brilliant creations. All four members were talented and brought something to the table, but I personally feel it was drummer John Bonham, who was they key figure in the Zeppelin sound. One music writer aptly described Bonham as Zeppelin's "secret rhythm weapon". Another great reaction, and a very thoughtful analysis, BizMatik. Keep up the great work!

Wow...for me this is the highlight of Page's playing - in his green velvet pants and black leather jacket and the psychedelic guitar...the band starts out slow setting up the mothership then shoots up into space and brings you back down exhausted...what a trip!...

Grew up with their music! It's always been part of the soundtrack to my life! , Saw them Live a couple of times back in the 70s, I liked it! But I wasn't a big fan until about 10years ago, I was into other shit! But Iv'e just gotta say for the record! This Band was the Real Deal !!!.....

I mean, I suppose with the telecaster he could at least have some hope it stayed in tune. He's very heavy-handed on the strings, but that's partially because they had to force the sound somewhat in those days. Plant, as usual, sounds like he's going to break the mic. A probably apocryphal tale tells how one night the p.a. system went down and people could still hear him over the rest of the band. It's a nice idea but somehow I don't think so!

I like the Madison square 2973 live version of this song better.

This is what I’ve always said is sorely missing from today’s popular music. Talent, mastery of an instrument, unaided vocal skills, the ability to just go off and improv without plan and having the other players just fall into it .. seamlessly. Page riffs - Plant imitates - Bonham lays the beat - Jones follows and changed - Bonham switches .. seamlessly - Page and Plant then follow the new lead. This level of talent and skill was lost on today’s music listeners. What they were told was “great” was meh.. If I’m wrong then every reactor is lying about how amazed they are. Change-ups wouldn’t be so .. “WOW! You can do that?”. Music from 50 years ago wouldn’t have the reaction you feel. Pushing a button, “sampling” and auto-tune isn’t talent.
