This is live from the Royal Albert Hall in 1970. Zeppelin opened the show on a tear with two songs off this album, We’re Gonna Groove and I Can’t Quit You Baby. It’s an amazing performance that you’ll have to check out after this album. The whole show is fire. 🔥

I thought it was from a soundcheck (hence no crowd noises), but I can't remember where I heard that from though. Matters not really, that was a remarkable performance. Much better than their original studio recording.
@davidcarter4247

@@JeffJefferyUK I suspect the sudden cut off is because the the band and sound crew started talking. The actual concert performance is much better from Plant, Page and JPJ because of the presence of the audience. Bonzo did more in the sound check because setting him up would be way more complex than the others. Multiple mikes to position and balance.

Bonzo frequently played with the fat end of the stick hitting the drums which gave it a little more thump. One critic even called his style, "ham fisted". Greatest rock band to ever roam the earth. I went to a Zeppelin concert at the old Capital Center in Landover Maryland around 73. Security closed most of the entrances to control the inflow of the rowdy crowd. A large mob formed of people trying to get in. You could hear the band crank up "Dazed and Confused" from outside of the building and all hell broke loose. Police on horseback came charging across the parking lot with batons drawn and started whacking people on the head to break it up. It reminded me of the scene in Doctor Zhivago when the Cossacks charged on horses and slaughtered protesters with swords during the Bolshevik Revolution. Those were the days when rock ruled the world!

That’s a great account sir. I was born in 69’ and grew up loving their music but was just a kid when I heard Bonham had died. LMAO! "Is this a Bonz...showin off...showcase?...showin' off... (Jimmy steps up) ...Or...or...a Jimmy Page/Robert Plant??" Answer: YES. Also, there IS a vid of this, note for note the same, and it's SPECTACULAR! We are privileged to see Bonham and the other three glory in their talent(s) onstage (It's a filmed sound check, Royal Albert Hall, 1970). JPJ moves around quite a bit as well, and he and Bonzo sort of make stank faces at each other, lol! More great Bonz coming on this one, guys! And the rest of 'em, of course! "Darlene" is a keeper!
