Official video for 'Immigrant Song' by Led Zeppelin. This version of Immigrant Song serves as a wonderfully evocative bridge between the early, understated Zeppelin of the Albert Hall era and the full-blown grandeur their performances would assume throughout the rest of the seventies.
The visuals and the soundtrack of this live performance of are a digitized 'mash' of two separate performances: the film footage taken from the band's performance at the Sydney Showground in Australiam in February 1972; the music from a Long Beach Arena show, in Los Angeles, in the summer of 1972.
"The fourth album had just come out and we were on a roll. Even though the visuals and soundtrack are from different performances, the energy that comes across is palpable." - John Paul Jones

Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

Exactly my thoughts. I enjoyed in younger days and in the moment then... over years my appreciation for Zeppelin as the best band ever rock and ballad and this bluesy- knock the ball.ouut park ' and each artist individually has grown with older and newer music they produce. That keeps blossoming for me and is classic. Enduring. Decades and still fresh enjoyment. Generations born after the 60s and 70s are still blown away with the works of Led Zeppelin- setting a bar not with intent but as gifted men making music and doing what they are passionate about. Each member tslented and fortunately they formed a special element and shared fruits of that. People will use phrase "defining an era". Led Zeppelin- did that and continue to do that. It is akin to Masters such as Mozart or Chopin - and we are blessed to be living in the moment of this. In concert Wow... amplify the energy. It's an experience not just a performance or a song we listen to. To do that and be one who understands their craft so well and remain humble factors in beautifully as well.

Of all the bluesy songs Zeppelin made, this has to be the least bluesy. This is just plain old Rock, but ask any Metal musician, they'd probably say this song was a major influence. Plus, most modern genres trace their roots to the Blues, so I'd say Blues influences are a given.

I have been lucky enough to have been born under a lucky star. 1956, and in 70, 71 and 72, I saw Zeppelin live all 3 times at the Garden. I was 15, 16 and 17. They opened up with Immigrant song at one of these concerts. Another time, they opened up with rock n roll. Am I not the luckiest girl in the world. I try to put these feelings into words but sometimes I can't. I do truly feel for all you youngsters that will never get to see them live. Instead, you can imagine what's it like to hear Stairway for the first time.byou can listen to it and view on computers, but sadly, it's just NOT THE SAME. I still pray at the altar of Zeppelin. It never gets old. I'm 62 now and I still listen to my never ending playlists every day. Led Zeppelin, the best band ever. Ever. Bonham, the best drummer. Better than Dave Grohl, better than Roger Taylor. There's just Bonham and then, everybody else.👏👏

@Marilyn Catalano - Your right about them probably being the greatest rock band of all time, but the greatest rock drummer of all time is probably Carl Palmer of ELP. Never saw Zeppilin, but saw ELP in the '70s when they had the heaviest (actual weight) road show ensemble and equipment in rock history also. Palmer's drum set went up in the air and spun, maybe head over heels spinning as well; and you couldn't even see his arms below the elbows he was moving so fast. Led Zeppilin, ELP and Pink Floyd. Top 3 rock bands ever. Though there are a lot of bands nipping at their heels and in 2nd place.

How can Deep Purple Child in Time have more views than this? Deep Purple are nothing in front of these guys and Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin the greatest quartet of musicians ever ensembled into one band ever 🔥🔥🔥🔥👌

Jimmy page and his riffs are immortal. The transitions, the ever changing pace, mixing of genres and the bass and drums supporting all these complex variations can be done by one and only one band. Zeppelin forever. Much like the great epics, their songs are a lore forever written into the hearts and minds of hundreds of millions of people.

@@stephenstone8480 The Beatles in my opinion wrent an all round band. They, especially in their later career, made better albums. But live, they barely performed live and they weren't as incredible as Led Zeppelin live. Tge only band in history I woukd compare to Led Zeppelin live is Queen and they still weren't as good. Zeppelin were probably the best all round band. In their sound, members, ability to play instruments, and more

Two of my high-school teachers were at this concert. I know you don't care, but I care, because they told me all about the show, which was simply visceral and incendiary. Best concert they've ever seen, both of them told me that. That night, there was a palpable celebratory buzz all across the city of Sydney, as the audience returned to their every day lives......
