When I was about 15 circa 1986 I learned to play this song... and while I was playing it over a friend’s house my buddy said, “ that is really good... what’s the name of the song”... I said it’s over the hills and far away... to which his dad said for another room, “ I wish the fvck he’d go play that thing over the hills and far away!!! Classic!! Even I was lmao.

I have so much respect for anyone who learned how to play guitar pre KZfaq and without a teacher. I don't think I ever would have figured out how to play a song like this. Cheers to you Marty, you're awesome! On this song I decided to try other KZfaq guitar teachers. And guess what, I ended up back on your Channel. You're the best!

Pre youtube in the early 90s I got my first guitar. Luckily I had a friend who could play but all I learned was parts of songs, never a full song 😂. I ended up just noodling to the sounds in my head. Now as a middle aged man I'm checking out songs I like on KZfaq. I also have a toddler who likes to fall asleep to things wheels on the damn bus, puff the magic dragon, and black bird. 😂😂

Takes me back to late 1980, just as I was advancing from playing basic rhythm guitar to learning how to play licks in between chords. Another great 'refreshing muscle memory after a long hiatus' exercise. Five years without any guitar practice and 20+ years of mostly playing in a seated position; so I'm just getting back into shape for playing onstage again. I'll be working on adding guitar to my vocal performances soon. Thank you again.
