His guitar solo always gives me goosebumps as I reach for the highest volume level on the player. There will never be another band like this. Raw music genius that will forever stand the test of time. Period.

Guitarist is just the bands producer. He was a studio guitarist for years before joining the yardbirds who were formed in early 1963. Original yardbirds band members were lead vocalist Keith Relf, lead guitarist Anthony "Top" Topham, rhythm guitarist Chris Dreja, bassist Paul Samwell-Smith and drummer Jim McCarty Eric Clapton joined the band in October, 1963, replacing Topham and voluntarily left in 1965. He recommended Page as his replacement but Page declined and Jeff beck took over. Page eventually did join but as their bassist after Samwell-Smith left the band. Jeff Beck left in 1966, and Page, who had already transitioned to 2nd guitarist, took over as lead guitarist The Yardbirds dissolved within 2 years and the original name of Led Zeppelin was the New Yardbirds Class adjourned .That’s concluded today’s school history lesson.

First time listener. If you’re going on a Zeppelin journey, I’ll tag along. My favorite band. Guitarist Jimmy Page...one of the best rock guitarist in history. A true Rock God. He played with charisma and is famous for his amazing riffs and his ability to improvise on the fly. He also produced ALL the Zeppelin albums. A famous studio musician in London in the sixties before joining The Yardbirds...and then went on to found Zeppelin. Zeppelin in the seventies had the status that The Beatles held in the sixties and were that influential to future rock and metal. They released 10 albums and have sold somewhere between 200-300 million albums worldwide....In the top five artists in sales. Very deep and highly rewarding rabbit hole here, if you want to dig into them. All four outstanding musicians, and their collaboration took them to the very pinnacle of Rock God status at their peak. Famous for their diversity in their music, their incredible stage presence and chemistry onstage, the length of their concerts....usually over three hours....and for the LEGENDS of their rock god life-style while on tour. They wrote the book. If you liked Whole Lotta Love AND you like Stairway, then you will appreciate pretty much everything they did. Saddle up....it’s a long and highly rewarding journey you have ahead.

So What? Heavy metal musicians stole almost everything written by the German baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach in the 18th century. The hip-hoppers and rappers were inspired by German electronic music (Kraftwerk). In music, cultures feed off each other. And we should celebrate that, rather than small-mindedly complaining that someone else is picking up the ball and evolving the game...
@dlewtweentorla12103 жыл бұрын
HarriBest..... Zeppelin was an amazing band. Each of the four musicians were the elite of their instruments. Page, Plant, Jones and Bohnam ALL voted in many "Top 10" & "Best Of" lists over the years, each hitting number 1 on more than one occasion. Sad truth is they were so much better together, bringing the best out of each other. When John Bohnam died in 1980, they decided not to continue. As for what to listen to... You must understand (which you've already got a hint of) these guys were always growing/evolving and constantly changing. Suggest you start with "Led Zeppelin 1" the first album. Many here will agree, each album is solid as can be, each album is the quality of a "Best Of" by other groups. Start with the first song on the first album then continue, will be the only way to keep it straight with this journey. Challenge you to try, if wrong and you hit a song that bites, stop! If not continue. The first album changed Rock, has a heavy Blues influence, seriously check it out.. Then you'll be hooked and move on to the 2nd. Cheers!

Before Led Zep, he played with Clapton and a 16-yr old Beck in The Yardbirds. Think I commented before that IMO and considerable experience of their concerts, Zeppelin was not at their best live. Nice job. When you ask about a good Zeppelin song, it's hard to narrow down. They have a variety of old Mississippi blues and rock. Live they like changing things up and sometimes stretch a song to over 30 minutes. There's a live version of Dazed and Confused from 1975 (I think) that's 42 minutes. Enjoy the Zeppelin journey.

From the first album (Led Zeppelin I 1969) you still have: Good times bad times. Babe i'm gonna leave you. You shook me. Dazed and confused. Your time is gonna come. Black mountain side. Communication breakdown. I can't quit you baby. How many more times. From second album (Led zeppelin II 1969): Whole lotta love. What is and what should never be. The lemon song. Thank you. Heartbreaker. Living loving maid she's just a woman. Ramble on. Moby dick. Bring it on home. From the third album (Led Zeppelin III 1970): Inmigrant song. Friends. Celebration day. Since i've been loving you. Out in the tiles. Gallows pole. Tangerine. That's the way. Bron-Yr-Aur-Stomp. Hats off to (Roy) Harper. From fourt album (Led Zeppelin IV 1971): Black dog. Rock and Roll. The battle of evermore. Stairway to heaven. Misty mountain hop. Four sticks. Going to california. When the levee breaks. From fifth album ( House of the holy 1973): The song remains the same. The rain song. Over the hills and far away. The crunge. Dancing days. D'yer Mak'er. No quarter. The ocean. From the sixth album ( Physical Graffiti 1975): Custard Pie. The rover. In my time of dying. Houses of the holy. Trampled under foot. Kashmir. In the light. Bron-Yr-Aur. Down by the seaside. Ten years gone. Night flight. The wanton song. Boogie with stu. Black country woman. Sick again. From seventh album ( Presance 1976) Achilles last stand. For your life. Royal orleans. Nobody's fault but mine. Candy store rock. Hots on for nowhere. Tea for one. From eighth album ( In through the out door 1979): In the evening. South bound suarez. Fool in the rain. Hot dog. Carouselambra. All my love. I'm gonna crowl. From last album (Coda 1982) : We're gonna groove. I can't quit you baby. Poor tom. Walter's walk. Ozone baby. Darlene. Bonzo's mountreux. Wearing and tearing. Unreleased songs: La La. Travelling riverside blues. The Girl I Love She Got Long Black Wavy Hair. Baby come on home. Sugar mama. Hey hey what i can do. St. Tristan's sword. 10 Ribs & All / Carrot Pod Pod ( Pod). Key to the highway / Trouble in mind. Jennings farm blues. Live only songs: Somethin' else. Sunshine woman. C'mon Everybody. All recommended.

Hey brother, great video. I'm a new sub. I tried for years to understand the meaning to the lyrics to this song as they were so deep and epic sounding. Then recently on YT I heard Jimmy Page talking about it's recording in the studio when it was new. He said, "I can still see Robert Plant sitting on the floor of the studio writing lyrics for it". Almost as if it were scratched together at the last minute. That's when I realized no matter what the lyrics were or might have been, they brought the epic depth to it. Cheers!

Just to let you know back in the day ( late 60's into the 70's) it was the fashion for men to have long hair and tight pants. Much more interesting for us females LOL Robert Plant pulled off the look perfectly! The meaning of the lyrics? I believe it was written with some ambiguity, everyone interprets it their own way. Though I believe there are some direct and prevailing concepts within and a general message. If there is any hint as to what he designed it to mean at the time, in the video to this concert (and he's repeated it in other concerts as well) Robert does provide some hint. Just before this song starts, he states: "I think this is a song of hope". Take that for what you will. Even he has admitted, probably quite honestly; that he isn't even sure what it means anymore. He wrote it as a young man as the band was holed away in a cabin. He wrote the lyrics by the fireplace when the guitarist Jimmy Page played the first few notes. He probably had 1000s words in his head and this was the result. Though I'm sure he understands the general theme he was addressing, some of the opaque, seemingly unrelated or confusing lyrics have taken away from the message. At the same time though, it's created discussion.

Robert Plant has said that his lyrics are personal, but also ambiguous because he doesn’t like to reveal too much of himself. He has said that it difficult to explain because it about something “very British”....that you would understand the references more if you were English...he says its about the Spring...life returning anew....(It’s a spring clean for the May Queen). Perhaps the most personal of the lyrics are “There’s a feeling I get, when I look to the West, and my spirit is crying for leaving”. Plant has always has a very restless spirit, and he has looked towards the west and The Sea, when his soul feels the need for leaving...
