Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

The stars aligned when these 4 met each other. There will never be another Zeppelin. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I've tried over the years to get everyone I know to love Led Zeppelin, but they never dig deep enough to hear masterpieces like this. It's not all Whole Lotta Love and Stairway to Heaven. These guys were so diverse. There's something for everyone to love.

My best to you and yours. Both my folks have passed, but remember what I was listening to when receiving the word of their passing. I know this for sure, when I hear those cuts my Mom or Dad is right there with me, and smiling because they know they are never gone, just not as close as they would like just now. I can't take any credit for that thought, those are from my Mom. I lost a friend, more like a brother, years ago and was a real mess. Mom sat me down and said "he isn't gone if you remember him, he just isn't as close as you would like just now". When you hear this cut for the rest of your life you will know your Dad is still looking after you, just not as close as you would like just then. Thanks Mom, I was listening, even if it didn't seem like it at the time. Be well and safe peace to you and yours.

Then it made my eyes well up again trying to figure out the tuning & chords on this song as a young guitarist. 3 channels on TV, no youtube, no internet, nothing! Seeing them live, and/or picking the needle up a thousand times on the record, trying to learn that ONE chord or lick. Simply amazing.. 🤟😎🤟

The Rain Song - Lyrics: It is the springtime of my loving The second season I am to know You are the sunlight in my growing So little warmth I've felt before It isn't hard to feel me glowing I watched the fire that grew so low, oh It is the summer of my smiles Flee from me, keepers of the gloom Speak to me only with your eyes It is to you, I give this tune Ain't so hard to recognize, oh These things are clear to all from time to time, ooh Oh, oh Oh Talk, talk, talk, talk Hey, I felt the coldness of my winter I never thought it would ever go I cursed the gloom that set upon us, 'pon us, 'pon us But I know that I love you so Oh, but I know That I love you so These are the seasons of emotion And like the wind, they rise and fall This is the wonder of devotion I see the torch We all must hold This is the mystery of the quotient, quotient Upon us all, upon us all, a little rain must fall Just a little rain, oh, yeah Oh, ooh, yeah-yeah-yeah

There's plenty of talent around now, and always will be. If you truly feel this way, when did you stop searching out the good stuff and settle for what you knew and loved in your earlier life? If that's what you've done of course, I don't know you. But I've seen it in plenty of people and am always bemused how they can love music, and at one time in their life would have searched out everything new, but now don't want to explore it anymore. Just cos they don't like what's in the charts doesn't mean there's not new stuff out there they'd like by musicians they'd consider talented.

1976, was ten years old and bought a promotional copy of Zeppelin 1 from a record store. The promo copy was the one people played in the store. Its all I could afford from my paper route money. Its was a beginning from there. Thanks for the endless lifetime of great memories. Like a soundtrack. I remember the day Bonham died. We were on a soccer pitch, it was raining.

I think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. From the haunting lyrics from Plant to Jimmy's guitar genius. It instantly puts me at ease when I'm just looking for that instant calm. There will never be music like this ever again and although sad, I feel privileged to have experienced it. The lyrics "Upon us all, a little rain must fall" don a wall in my home. It's nice to see I am only echoing previous comments. I wonder what else they could have created had their time together not been cut short. Best there ever was - hands down.

What prompted Led Zeppelin to compose “The Rain Song” was George Harrison (a huge fan of theirs❕) telling drummer John Bonham that the trouble with them was that they didn’t do any ballads. Bonham brought in the idea, and the band worked with him to put it together. All four members shared the composer credit. Clocking in at 7:39, this mellow piece has a wistful vibe, with Robert Plant singing about the changing emotions of love : “These are the seasons of emotion And like the wind, they rise and fall … Upon us all, upon us all, a little rain must fall.” In a nod to the ex-Beatle, Jimmy Page played the first two notes of Harrison’s “Something” (1969) in the intro. Producer Rick Rubin stated : “[‘The Rain Song’] defies classification. There’s such a tasteful, beautiful detail in the guitar and a triumphant feel when the drums come in - it’s sad and moody and strong, all at the same time.” ONE MUST-LISTEN‼️ 💚☔️💙
