new bias=new vocal video to familiarize myself with them. today, that's Red Velvet's Seulgi. she's not much of a technical vocalist, so if you're looking for Whitney vocals, you won't get them. with that being said, she can support, she just has quite a few issues. I still love her tone though (along with her dancing) and since there are more videos for Wendy, I decided to do one for Seulgi. enjoy!

Seulgi is a good singer. However, her specialty doesn't lie on her high notes but her LOW NOTES. Her Low Notes are golden. Stickwitu is the best example.

Nada I don’t think that’s what they meant. Amazing singers don’t have to hit high notes to be good. Their low vocals can be off the charts

Yeah she has a nasal tone most of the time bet her lower register is really good. Hopefully she'll get trained better in the upper register.

What makes Seulgi precious is she has a colorful voice which is pretty special to me. I don’t know how but I am always attracted to her singing performance. She shows her singing ability that she can do better everytime. Although she is the main dancer, but I love her lead vocalist side, too. I believe that she will improve in the future days. Seulgi is talented and I love her 💛

I like Seulgi’s tone. Her nasality and poor breath support affects her vibrato which affects her vocal capacity in singing. Hope she practices more and improves. It’s hard to drop bad singing habits though.

The thing about her voice being nasal is that yes, it can be poor technique depending on what genre you're doing, but if you're going for a certain effect it works. Red Velvet is a pop group, and Seulgi's nasal tone fits with that. It makes her notes sound sharper. It does, however, make her high notes unstable, which is where it IS bad technique. Wendy has better high notes for that reason, but they both sound great!

gemma feltovich Wow its been years since this comment. Anways, even if its pop singing, its still a choice to sound top-notch vocally like Whitney, Mariah, and many more technically skilled singers which is something i admire about them because they take the time to understand what is good singing if we’re talking technical here. I won’t sugarcoat things but its been years and Seulgi still remains at the same skill level where she started with. But its singing and she can still change and slowly get rid of her singing “flaws”. In their new Monster albums, they’ve shown nothing new really. But I like their vocals so it doesn’t stop me from listening to their music 😊 SM makes good music anyways haha

I wouldn't say her breath support is poor tho, like yes, her vibrato & her placement are poor, but her support is honestly decent, someone with poor support would be Joy, shallow and tense most of the time.

I saw a video saying she injure her voice before(or smth like that) she wanted to main in singing but she injured her voice and no choice but practiced very hard in dancing

Her voice is so pleasing to the ears to be honest. My ultimate fave parts in RV songs that she sang are the legendary first bridge in Happiness and her deep and high notes in Kingdom Come. I hope she'll improve her highest notes though. But she's a very good vocalist overall with good support ability in her confortable range and could easily be main vocalist in other groups. She's perfect in Red Velvet of course. Ultimate bias.

Be good vocalist is more than just can do high note that's why some people (so do I) still think seulgi is good singer. Since debut until now she always show us her progress instead of declining so I believe later she'll become one of the top vocalist. And I really like when she sing English song, my favorite is meghan T like I'm gonna lose you. Many kpop fans thought that if you can do high note you're a top vocalist, hence many low register idol vocalist become underrated or sometime they think can't sing, like taehyung from bts. When his voice is so beautiful 😢

I think you are missing the point... You can be a Baritone like V and still do high notes... But your high notes will not be same as the high notes of a tenor for example.

Her voice is very special it's unique and she could do many hard techniques and skill that many idol couldnt. According to SM she's the best trainee that did a great job in vocal class

SM invested in her and Seulgi herself also done a lot of practice. I believe she has done her best for every performance and it is very obvious that she always sings live while dancing. Every singer has a vocal range, just like when I first joined the choir, the instructor tested on my range as I had to hum to each keynote he pressed on the piano keyboard. This is also why Wendy and Seulgi is in Red Velvet because their vocal complement each other, although Seulgi range is slightly lower than Wendy, she can still easily deal with all the songs she sings. Singer with more experience later may or may not expand the range. But from what I have seen from Red velvet performance, Seulgi has done perfectly for her part and her dance is always at the top level. So actually I feel that she is worthy of whatever she had right now, and of course, she deserves all the recognition from viewers.

I never realised this but she can sound really whiny. She needs to work on that and maybe sound more resonant , her voice is beautiful though and she's multi-talented. She's still a relatively decent singer though , she sounds good in RV songs and supports a lot of their high notes so. The higher notes sound really nasal and strained.

Being a vocalist isn’t about hitting high notes, it’s more than that and Seulgi is the complete package. Her voice is nowhere as powerful as Wendy nor does she have a wide range like her but she still outdoes most lead (maybe even main vocals) from other groups. Appreciate her vocals along with her visuals and dance 🥰🥰

Great video, i love Seulgi vocals, specially on the A4/Bb4 area, where she shines the most. I think u should make one with her supported range too, wich is around G#3 ~Bb4, i think that would show her voice better.

seyven dreon Joy has a sweet and beautiful voice imo but she's vocally weaker than Seulgi. She has a shallow support, can't project, has a wobbly vibrato and is tight.
