I use to think that I was the only one who noticed that. I've always said that but the difference between me and you is that I don't like the sound of her voice or Aaron Neville. It gets irritating if I listen too long. She can sing, but I'm not a fan of her style...ha! Her voice irritates me like Daron from 112 and Tao from Dru Hill. They can sang, but there is something about there voices that I cringe at from time to time. To each their own though, I know we all tend to favor certain voices over others. Peace and love fam!

The 2nd performance you see right here was even more incredible than the 1st believe it or not. It was as if each of them put more emotion into it and I had chills. Each one of those women have unique and beautiful singing techniques and sounded absolutely perfect in unison. @@cbtube1677 I'm from the UK just like she is so I know of Floetry which she was in with another girl. I've probably heard a lot more of her stuff than you have. I've also heard the tributes she's been a part of & the one consistent thing is that she has no control of her voice trying to do runs & ending up going all over the place. She murders every song she sings. Take a listen to when she was part of the Gladys Knight tribute singing If I Was Your Woman. Gladys Knight was one of my musical influences growing up & is still one of my all time favourite vocalists so to hear Marsha completely butcher the song was painful. Like I said, she's a great writer & producer so she should stick to that. Just like Beyonce should stick to singing & leave acting alone 🤷‍♀️

I love the art in act of this performance. You’re right they emoted the heck l out of this. Kelly humble, meek and strong in strength like Sarah. Sephronia sounded like she’s tight rope walking balancing being her mothers aggressor child and suffering that bias of being negro and white, it’s touching because that’s my great grandmothers story in lyric and Ambrosia being Afro British and Britain likes to hide its racism . Sweet Thing sassy and sexy for sale but in pain playing that role. Jill showcased that. And finally Ledesi being a bitter fruit because ain’t nothing about her life sweet.

i watched this the night it premiered and I repeatedly get chills with each revisit. The choice of singer that did each part, i feel like was intentional - even if by just the approach and vocal style - in alignment with each character and their backstory in the song. first character - elder, mother, strong but well-worn - Kelly Price through her approach and vocal style - strong yet warm. forward yet worn. second character - bi-racial woman born from an enslaved woman and free white man - Marsha through her approach and vocal style - not lost yet searching, two different styles to the lyric - the yodel has yearning and pain in it, almost like somber cry in it. third character - a street walker, her power is in her body. Jill Scott - subtle power yet strong and intentional in her presentation of the lyric, knowing of herself. In mere seconds along the one line, she goes from feverish to hunger to satisfied and purposeful. fourth character - bold, streetwise Peaches - Ledisi, brassy assertive deliberate delivery of the lyric, eye contact never flinching, stance never wavering, slowly building up to that earth shattering roar. JUST EPIC.

Hands down! All of these women came and did what needed to be done! Not one of the new r&b girls could stand ten toes down in front of a mic (that is on) and emote, project, enunciate and just SANG captivating an audience like these veterans in the game.

All the ladies were awesome for each part that they were singing. That was deliberately put together that way. These ladies each have such uniqueness about their singing style and it was displayed in this song. Let me move on to you singing my name is peaches part, as if it was nothing and moving right along on us 😂, that sir was excellent. I’m no singer, just a girl that loves good music.

Yeah - don’t try this one at home folks! You gotta go through some stuff to sing like this! It feels very literary in the sense that it’s so much more personal than just the basic “And I will always love you” (not an easy song, but lends itself to be easily sung across cultures). However, this level of angst exist in all cultures; I’d be interested in seeing others sing this while letting the idiosyncrasies of their culture come through - could be Japanese, Egyptian, Argentinian, Russian, Chinese - who cares. Emotional pain is not unique to one culture.

Lastly I would like to say, I have never in my life heard a person break down a song like this brother did, man it was incredible, I felt like I was in a class or something...the way this brother was breaking down this song...I felt like I understood the song more listening to this break down...I subscribed to the channel, and I'm not a singer at all nor do I know anything about music. My Daughter sings & loves to sing...I'm going to send her this video
