Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

I wish I could have been there !!! But I was eight years old and moved from California to Arkansas. Been to over 50+ concerts in my 55yrs and this is one I didn't get to see. Hey, I brought my 2 boys to see Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert in Little Rock Arkansas with Peter Frampton and 38 Special and I don't know how much they liked it but I loved it....😮😬🤔🤭😁🤣💯👌 I can brag on my first concert which was in, or close, to San Bernardino in 1983 which was the US festival and I believe the tickets were $25 and I was 16 and I got to see Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen with front man David Lee Roth... 🤘 They say the new Heavy Metal era started with that day. ✌️🤘👌💯

@@criaturaimaginaria5230 Earles Court wasn’t the best place to see bands, huge stone columns everywhere. The sound was appalling (I recorded and still have the entire show on tape) They started with ‘rock and roll’ it was a total mess. My friend can clearly be heard saying WTF is that! Then we all start laughing. We spent all night out in the freezing cold waiting to buy tickets, at that point we felt a little let down. Bob was struggling with his voice and was adjusting vocal melody to accommodate his lack of range. The drum and keyboard solos were far too long. England had beaten Scotland 5:1 that day and the place was full of disgruntled Jocks in kilts. The big screen (first ever I believe) was out of sync. The laser show (first time ever used) was pitiful. We missed the train home and slept on Paddington all night.....still, I met my wife there which wasn’t a bad thing 😊 I wouldn’t have missed it for the world!

He made his music stand out and i dont think he would want anything other than that. its always like this in rock bands, the lead guitarist and the singer gets all the praise. Real one knows that's not the case, at least not for this band. He is the unsung anchor of this band.

Led zeppelin, the band as a whole, did not write, and follow their lyrics and music... they didnt go by any rules.... led zeppelin felt, they felt what felt right, the feel their way through every show, every show and song sounded a little different every time. @metalgeniusjoe5602 What's "funny" about it?? Don't misunderstand me, I personally think Led Zeppelin and perhaps the Who were in the top 3 -- the Beatles, again being # 1. And when I was in high school in the 1970's i.e., class of "79" I actually liked the Who and Led Zep more than the Beatles. But over time I actually came to the conclusion that the Beatles were better than both of them. But hey, to each their own. So Merry Christmas and Peace Out Bro.

I loved and still love how they could go from crashing bluesy rock to this, all in one album or live show. Pound for pound, inch for inch, still my most favorite band of all time. LZ II is where I started. Jimmy changed my life and is the reason I ended up playing guitar for the last 30 years or so…Saw Robert do some of LZ’s songs in Golden Gate Park a few years back during one the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festivals…definitely some magical moments that day!!

I am of the same heart Mary Williams. I have one number #1 Band. That is Led Zeppelin of course. All other music that I love and like falls into the number 2 category. I have no number 3,4,5 etc... This is just how I have always felt after discovering Led Zeppelin in 1969. To me, what would be the point. Led Zeppelin is the greatest Band of all time. To me. And many others. Enjoy the songs of love, hardship, peace dreaming and of course Hard,Heavy and Pounding Rock that is Led Zeppelin sister. They were the First of my Loves. And we all know what people say about your first Love.😎

Well I have to admit when I bought Houses of the Holy back in 1973 my 14 year old brain couldn't understand what The Crunge was doing on my beloved Zeppelin album!! Where's the confounded bridge!! Decades later I read it was a tribute to James Brown. OK. 😳😳😳

Makes me miss my parents, grateful to have had the time with them and also the music that they got me hooked on. They just don’t make them like they used to. Turning 30 and they were called away back to back a year apart. Never saw 63. I have the vinyls and cassettes and it always makes me think of them
