Lee has to be one the most honest and coolest dude's in the history of BB'ing. So down to earth and tells it like it is. Ever since I started in 1994 I always idolized him because I too wasn't blessed with being 6'4 or even 5'10. I am the same height as him but had the real good muscle reception, the frame and good genetics to pack on size. What he said here is spot on and parroted by others like James Tiny Vest having to do with age and limitations being reached. While Rich was a really cool dude and one of the most personable guys out there, he simply overdid it too much, especially that 30lbs of muscle in 2 months or whatever it is, which of course, is just not possible. Combine that with the unnecessary amount of food he was taking in with that too is just a recipe for disaster at that age was well. That kinda thing wreaks havoc on numerous functions of the body. And of course, not like it needed to be confirmed, but is now, and well, the PMMA crap he was injecting in his arms, chest, delts, and who knows where else, surely played a role. That shit can lead to all sorts of complications pertaining to bloodflow, clots, blockages, nerve damage, etc. Uhhgg. Real shame it all is, died way too young.

I knew Bill Pearl and lived 5 miles from the gym I really think he used no gear but if he did it wasn't much and he was truly one of the GREATS. He once told me I was working out too much 3 hours in the AM and 2 PM. Took me to the office and and showed me pictures of Sam Loprinzy and said work out like Sam make it a joy not a job.

I know this is an old video but I just love Lee. No bullshit and a straight shooter. I’d love to hang out with this guy.

As I heard, both of BB athletes did a cut phase. Rich had among last posts one that said "Monday Motivation- Shredded by the Day- Mission 240- Currently 266- Down from 286!" And last call to 911 from fellow bb Josh Lenartowicz said that his gym buddy Dallas Mccarver was presumably just used insuline. As i heard, in fact, most dangerous thing that Body builders use are insulin and diuretics, not testosterone and HGH. If Lee could explain that further what is dangerous in it and why BB need to use them (apart from other athletes), that would be great.

Pretty sure Rich will be around a lot longer than most of us...kept alive by the meme memories of KZfaq bodybuilding Trolls everywhere...also synthol doesn't decompose

Lee, Ever think its worth getting heart etc checked, even if you've always stayed natural but trained heavy/hard for many years? Or just only really required after using ?

I have had issues with shin splints since I was a teen and really got into plyometrics....17 yrs ago...and have found that if I walk on my back heels,with toes pointed up, for paces with straight legs it completely solves the shin problem...it looks really goofy but works 100%

So Piana had a heart double human size with great amounts of arterial blockage, a liver 3 times the size full of cysts. Kidney disease, very sad to see such a kind soul go, but he chose his path. Now then Dallas had h heart almost triple the size, excuse me mass, I meant mass with Piana as well. The mass of a normal healthy heart is 300 to 330 grams. Rich's was 630 grams, Dallas's was 930. And his liver was 5 to 6 times the normal size, full of cysts as well. Kidneys in full shutdown. Poor guy already had congenital artery plaque problems, which means genetics from parents. Then all the stuff he took exacerbated it and bang. It's very sad, they were both very kind guys, consequences caught up. My mom just had a bad stroke from smoking and drinking a fifth everyday for about 20 years straight. Now her Carotid arteries are 90% blocked and she's going in for double stent surgery in 2 weeks. We all reap what we sow.

Lee's right the injection to get your heart raising is quite a negative experience. Going on the treadmill is less of a negative experience than the injections. I felt I was going to pass out w/ the injection while u can always get off the treadmill if your in trouble during stress test. In his day Lee was the biggest small guy out there. Lee was a beast, a giant killer.

Hey my dads best mate dropped dead from a heart attack when he was 51 and he never trained or took any steroids.

That is nuts having your heart rate raised to max by getting a shot...seems very risky to me...if you can't run on treadmill there are many other ways to excersize to bring heart rate to max...like jump rope, squats and dead lifts or power cleans...and many more...

As a bodybuilder u need a echocardiogram to see if your heart is too big. The same concept of a rubber band. U can stretch to a certain extent after that it becomes enlarged and loosed elasticity and doesn't pump blood as well as it should.

People die everyday younger than Rich, the amount he did and the extra weight he carried put a lot of strain on his heart too, can't blame it on one thing, he could have died from being too heavy and the heart couldn't keep up anymore.
