Truly a memorable and epic interview with a woman of a certain age within a certain time and place here in NYC that no longer exists. Lee battled alcoholism throughout her life but her wit and droll humor shine through. Rest in peace, Lee!

@@jennilang721 Though it was an interesting interview, and to me she is completely likable, I agree with what you're saying. I have no way of knowing what or how the father taught her to do or be like. But having done a few private duty caretaking for people in her level of fortune, I can say the women in this group all talk like this. It is strange though. Honestly, they all talk like that. It must have to do with allocution classes etc., in the private schools they went to, or a particular training of some kind that they don't tell us regular people about. It's a very inhibited way of speaking, but it does effectively put up barriers around them from the rest of the world.

You know why her son died so young ? because the mother was smoking during pregnancy, probably she fill bad about it remors and regret are substandard emotions guilt is deep,sociopaths does not experience guilt. When a woman smokes during pregnancy the thyroid doesn't function as it should be as the human grow hormonal changes start to kick in and interact with mutated genes initiating an irreversible cell death and tumour growth witch then either spread to organs or decrease white blood cells gradually weakening the immune system,the description here is water down version how her son contracted cancer and what hand she landed in the biological process.

Caroline Lee Radziwill: you were a one of a kind class act who, in my opinion, never played second fiddle to your sister or anyone else for that matter. You are an elegant symbol of an era long gone, however, listening to and reading your interviews, you moved on with life and it's tragedies with incredible poise, strength, and grace. Because you had style, many believed you were superficial, but there are so many powerful introspective layers of you fully seen when you fiercely protected your family. You will be missed. I always like tuning into this interview. In 1978 I was at the same venue with Ms. Radziwill and Truman Capote. She was dressed in a sleeveless black sheath wearing pearls. He was wearing a black leather jacket and cap to match. I am currently watching FEUD: Truman Capote vs. The Swans. I know Babe Paley was his favorite of the swans but I was hoping Callista Flockhart's role would have been more developed in the screenplay. The expose came out not long after and he was out and about with Lee.

I finished Truman Capote vs The Swans and I was so fascinated by the story of these ladies, and I'm now reading Capote's Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era. Janet ha...Lee and Jacqueline 's mother, did quite well....marrying for status and money. #Affluence Well done! Her daughters indeed were as apples that did not fall far from the tree. They were bred, reared to do so. Their stories are fascinating to say the least. Janet was controlling more than what most people probably have historically and biographically delved into. The mystique of the Bouvier sisters did not disappoint . ( Back in the day Lee was thought to be the more naturally pretty and well built one however she did not have that precise It girl factor ...like her sister. The underpinnings of their family dynamics were dysfunctional not unlike common families who possessed little money. The silver lining was being affored to Jetset and sail away from the " ruins and strained relationships," that most people cannot afford to take refuge from on a regular basis. Social and Economic status works wonders!! ( One can ignore or come to turns with the person who is staring back at them in the mirror and this point of fact , we all share. "Naked we are born and naked we die." May she rest in peace tho.

This lady holds many secrets and is very well bred (obviously.) I've read about her relationship with her sister over the years. The Kennedy's didn't treat her nicely. She arrived at her sister's funeral ll alone. JFK,Jr. escorted her to her seat. She was also considered more beautiful than her sister by many. She comes from a breed rarely seen. And, she married a prince. Fascinating woman.
@perpetualnotion7453

+jeh500 I do agree she holds many secrets in a sense. Though I find that they're probably all out there to unravel if one chooses to look. To say the Kennedys didn't treat her nicely is very off the mark. Who would she have arrived at her sister's funeral with that was in control of someone other than she? I would also say that of course she was considered more beautiful than her sister, because the entire dynasty of these connected families is seen via the perception of what people are told about them. Along with what they choose to show and how they choose to show it.

For those of you who are fascinated by Jackie Onassis and Lee Radziwill, I would recommend that you read In Her Sister's Shadow, a well researched account of Lee Radziwill's life. One of the facets of her life that I found interesting was her inability to manage money throughout her life, which forced her to downsize a number of times just so that she could live within her means. Her sister, Jackie, was forever pushing her to marry well so that she could have an adequate monthly allowance, which she said should be $15,000 to cover the purchase of designer clothing, accessories and other niceties. This was back in the 1960's, so this amount would equate to quite a lot of money nowadays. As we all know, Jackie Onassis succeeded in marrying well and insuring that she could maintain the lifestyle that she wanted.
