I wonder how much of her life they're going to talk about. Her time as a war correspondent had a really big impact on her life though. Her son didn't know about it till after she died and he and his wife went through old photos. Till then I think he mostly just knew her as a high functioning addict and a gourmet cook. He did know she was friends with Picasso though.

I am soooo glad that more people are going to be learning about Lee Miller. My father was a professional photographer and there were only a handful of photographers that my dad would talk about and praise all the time. Lee Miller was one of them. Can't wait.

While her years as a war photographer were undoubtedly important, Lee Miller had so many other fascinating chapters of her life. This movie, or at least the trailer, gives the impression that her life was solely about being a tough-as-nails photojournalist. What makes her Second World War years so interesting, and gives them greater context, are the many facets of her life before and after the war. I hope the film tells the story of her entire life. However, based on this trailer I'm not optimistic. Also, as fine an actress as she is, Kate Winslet's portrayal of Miller appears overwrought and aggressive. Miller was independent but with a bohemian spirit. That certainly doesn't come through in the trailer. I guess we'll have to wait for the movie to see if it is faithful to the story of her life or whether it takes so many liberties that her true story is buried beneath a pile of dramatic embellishments.

She is able to play serious roles, period pieces and be up for Oscars because she looks natural. Actresses greatly limit themselves in what roles they can play when they go the obvious plastic surgery route. Faces have to be able to move and emote. I love seeing actresses embracing their natural beauty as they age. Kate is beautiful.
