Oh happy days. Brings tears to my eyes. I was 15 back then and was in my usual spot behind the goal where all our goals went in. Leeds have been in my blood since September 66 when aged 9 my Dad took me to see us beat Sunderland 2-1. I can recall some great times down at Elland Road and ' My Boys' certainly ensured that this day was one of them cheers Lads , RIP Billy, our greatest ever player.

Bad day at the office for my team, but still great to watch - this was a golden era for English football. Great Leeds, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Wolves, Everton, City and United (well until about 1970 anyway) teams, nearly every year there was a different First Division champion, and regular success in Europe too. Proper man's game in those days.

@@EvoGoody Bollox they were hard as nails not like today's pansy asses .Look at that skill on a terrible pitch , today's players play on billiard tables in comparison and wouldn't last five minutes in those conditions . You mention fitness well back then they had small squads and weren't allowed all the subs they have now and players were hardly ever injured despite it been full contact unlike nowadays where they fall over in a fucking breeze .Yes the game has moved on but not for the better not by a long way .By the way Lorrimars shot was measured at 90 + mph with a ball twice as heavy as the beach balls they use nowadays .

@@andrewhargreaves1002 I've got the same illness. Mick Jones at Sheffield United was my first hero so when he moved to Leeds so did I. I've been a prisoner to them since, through thick and very thin, even throughout attending a non football public school. Mind you by the time I left, we had an XI . Literally jumpers for goalposts, graduating to rugby posts, eventually proper goals on a proper pitch.

This is football ? But where are the really exciting, interminable passes amongst the back four. They’re actually taking people on instead of passing it all the way back to the goalkeeper. Nobody looks like they’ve been shot by a sniper whenever they get within a foot of the opposition ! This must from a different planet.

Billy Bremner chasing that lost cause at 4:40 like an express train and keeping the ball in play which set up the 5th goal typifies how the wee man used to motivate his team mates. That goal (and many others) wouldn't have happened without his never say die attitude. One of a kind, what a leader.

The Leeds teams from the Revie era have their detractors, mostly because some of their players were overly physical. Most teams back then had players who were no stranger to the referee's notebook. What many people forget is the Leeds sides of that era were very very good. This clip is proof.

First time I've seen this set of highlights and how interesting they are. Everyone remembers the 30+ passes we strung together against Southampton a couple of weeks later, but the lads toyed with Man Utd too. Interesting that Allan Clarke was very instrumental in both those sessions of keep-ball. Not only am I blessed to have been at both matches, as I used to help my day as a programme seller at the time, I got in free.

Although they are not solely to blame, Sky have also helped to ruin cricket and many other sports, though it has to be admitted that the various controlling bodies did not have to sell out to the highest bidder; they just could not resist. The fact that Sky can influence fixture lists and start times for matches is an insult to those who actually attend the matches. The real supporters are rarely considered.

I was in the Lowfields Road stand. A great performance by Leeds in general and Mick Jones, Shireoaks' finest footballer, in particular. There were horrible crowd disturbances inside and outside the ground.

I hear people say Charlton and Hunter were donkey's. Really? Charlton footballer of the year 1967 and Hunter was the first PFA player of the year 1974. To the detractors I say 'up yours.' Put Billy as player of the year 1970 as well and you have to say to yourself. How did this happen if everyone hated them? How did they get so many votes?

The likes of Hunter and Bremner in particular had their reputations dented because of a media vendetta. The media in them days, as they do now, absolutely loved the team in red, and were quite openly biased against any team who took them on. As you can see here, they were truly magnificent footballers. Hard men, yes, but so was everyone in them days! They were certainly no worse than Chelsea or Liverpool at the time!

This was a poor United side that had been in decline for several years. Charlton was in is last season as was Best who by this time spent more time in the bar than the training ground. Law had gone to City and relegation was not for away. Doesn't get away from this being a very fine Leeds team. Pity Wolves beat them in the final game of the season otherwise they would have done the double.

Around 7 mins 8 seconds, is that Eddie Grey dragging back and going past George Best? So much for the supposed Best nutmeg on Cruyff in 1976. This by Grey, was as good as any nutmeg. All you N. Irish and Manchester United fans, does this make Grey a better player than Best? No, and Best's supposed nutmeg on Cruyff doesn't make Best a better player than Cruyff. 'The day George Best set out to humiliate Johan Cruyff' eh? What about the day Eddie Grey made a buffoon out of George Best!

I was at that match in the Geldered End, I think I'm right in saying Leeds had beaten Southampton 7-0 a week or so earlier at Elland Road. I remember them flicking the ball from one player to the next for a 5 minute spell and the Saints never touched the ball once.

This marked the beginning of the end for the great Man.Utd sixties team. Ageing Bobby Charlton and a creaking defence. They also suffered hammerings from a young Ipswich and Crystal Palace teams 4-0 and 5-0. Best new the game was up and soon realised his time was better spent on a bar stool. The club had failed to invest and were soon relegated a few years later.
