Yes indeed. They declined so quickly when the great players left but still had more than enough quality to have remained a top 5/6 side for the next few years but apart from a couple of semi finals and a 5th place never challenged again

Lee was all over Hunter like a rash. He was the nearest thing to perpetual motion, the way he was throwing punches constantly. Lee would have knocked utter fuck out of Hunter, as Jack Charlton has already intimated. Lee winning that penalty was a disgrace, but, to say the least, he was a tad unlucky to be sent of for simply being on the receiving end of a right hander.
@koncsaj7 жыл бұрын
Looks like Lee didn't land one to me. Hunter got a clean strike in and split Lee's lip. Neither could fight in a ring.
@TheCosmicFunker7 жыл бұрын
koncsaj Yes, Hunter did hit Lee, but it didn't look like that happened during a fight, and more Hunter hit Lee when he wasn't expecting it. As you said, Lee didn't actually land any punches, but it looked to me like he was all over Hunter, and would have knocked fuck out of him. Jackie Charlton said he would have fancied Lee in a fight against Hunter.
@koncsaj7 жыл бұрын
Arguing who would win a fight between these two is like arguing who would win an arm wrestle between Ant and Dec, nobody fucking cares. Even so, it's still embarrassing to see Lee diving like he did way back in the so called golden era of football. Even if Lee had knocked the living daylights out of Hunter, he was still an embarrassment for diving like he did.
@TheCosmicFunker7 жыл бұрын
koncsaj Lee was definitely a diver, and the one that earned the penalty in this game was a real shocker, but though there was a lot less diving in those days, players some players still went down very easily, Lee wasn't the only player who dived back then.

Frannie obviously dived, it seems to me though that their first fight was caused by Norman kicking him viciously after his shot at about 3.00 - this is just visible on the film. Too many changing money changing strips. Every season. Too much money. 80% of club income goes in wages. 80%. Fix it. Its in your hands. Don't go, tell them so. Dont watch sky, cable, chuck it in. Tell them why. Go to the third & fourth tiers club matches. Thats where the real British footy is played, teams virtually all British players. Two foreign players is fine. Its in YOUR hands.
