It is good that you included the Chinese Characters flashing in the screen along with the pronunciation. I am trying to learn the Chinese Characters that goes with the word or sentence, too. Mandarin is the official language to consolidate communication barriers even between Chinese whose native language may be Fookien, etc.

One aspect that is difficult is the absolute speed at which Chinese people speak! The other problem I often have developing an ear for this language is regional accents that slightly alter the word. I live in Jiangsu province and find that people in Wuxi say some things slightly different than in Nanjing.

Katrina, in English a common way to say “nothing” when asked “what are you doing?” We say “nada.” Saying “nothing” would sound awkward and a little defensive. Also you can say “nothing much”. That would be a more respectful way to say it. This was probably my favorite, most helpful lesson I’ve seen. Thank you very much😀
