I had a 13” TV with speaker wire attached to the antenna leads tacked all around my room to get my local PBS station. Late every Saturday night, around 9 or 10 o’clock, 90 or so glorious minutes of grainy Doctor Who, every so often adjusting a wire or two to get the reception just right, which became that much more important when Leela ran into the TARDIS. Ahh, to be 13 again!

The assistant yeah I said assistant should be less capable than the Doctor. Leela is an interesting character and if the assistant never gets captured it will make it less interesting. If a character we are invested in doesn't face peril it's less interesting and is 1 less person for the Doctor to save. If she is an attractive female then all the better. "Men saving women how sexist !!! " no not really, men are hard wired to protect women take the compliment ladies.

@mrjekyllandhyde9941
@mrjekyllandhyde9941 3 жыл бұрын
okay I think we all know where this is going. Tenth Planet is more popular and although it was William Hartnell's final story let me put the case for Trial of a Timelord: It's a vast improvement on the first series that many take such exception to. It has 4 stories ( 4 stories and 4 eps in the 1st 3 stories and 2 in the finale) the season is connected by a trial where the Doctor is being put on Trial by his own race for interferring in other times and cultures and is fighting for his life. We see the departure of Peri and the introduction of Mel. Even the Master makes an appearence not to mention the matrix as well as a twist where it becomes obvious one of the Timelords of the court isn't who he first seems to be (you may know who I mean) . If you choose to get the blu ray boxset there are tons of special features including extra updated CGI effects and Colin and Nicola take a look at the old eps . This is one of my favorite series and gets a lot of air time in my house. But of course William Hartnell is more popular and maybe it depends on how bigger Colin Baker fan you are, as some take his bold direction of the role to be unlikable not me one of the best Docs imo and this was a fine last season from the Doctor in the rainbow coat .
@mrjekyllandhyde9941
@mrjekyllandhyde9941 3 жыл бұрын
@Simon Leib fair enough, yeah Mel isn't one of the best companions but I like "Terror of the Vervoids" and "The Ultimate Foe" . Peri's exit is pretty epic though. (Mindwarp my favorite of the stories) I hear a lot of people say it was too long but it's one I constantly find myself coming back to. I'm just putting out the minority view point, but William Hartnell's first regeneration story is bound to be more popular let's face facts. Hmmm well I wonder which Trial story I'll watch tonight Lol

This is the story that had a major reveal about the character which the last season acknowledged, that had fans screaming "they cheapened the character!" even though it used a major point of canon(that he had several identities in the past) that later stories retconned away. I think some people just want to be unhappy. Nor can they even accept that the Doctor is a separate personality from the Timeless Child because they want to be miserable and scream "white genocide" at the screen, somehow, because I guess the story is somehow equivalent to concentration camps being used to exterminate a race? I don't understand conservative "logic" at all. It's not like many of them even watch the series.
