First of all, "Left and Right Strike the Tiger" refers to the opponent's strength being very strong, so one must aim to win with full force. Left and right include all directions, and the meaning of "strike" is to counterattack.
The use of Tai Chi Chuan emphasizes sticking, adhering, connecting, and following without losing the crown. In the process of striking, one should go with the flow and use the whole body to confront the opponent.
"Left and Right Strike the Tiger" requires movements such as turning, stepping forward with an empty stance, sinking the waist, pushing the foot, changing legs, and hammering. The practitioner should maintain a state of sinking the waist and dropping the hips, allowing the internal energy of the body to reverberate so that the punch can produce vibration and penetrate into the opponent when it lands.
In addition to "Strike the Tiger," Tai Chi Chuan also has different applications such as "Splitting and Hanging" and "Plucking and Hanging."
Finally, the practitioner needs to regard the opponent as formidable, confront with full force in every direction, and at the same time, respect the opponent and treat them with a kind-hearted mentality.
