We talked about the following games already in the previous episode: NES - Noah's Ark Sega Master System - Asterix, Running Battle Mega Drive - The Second Samurai SNES - Asterix, Hanna-Barbera Turbo Toons, Jelly Boy, Super Dany Nintendo 64 - Taz Express Playstation 2 - Masters of the Universe: He-Man Defender of Grayskull Here's the episode if you haven't seen it - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rcuHibGU0q_aj2Q.html

2 excellent French games; - Asterix & Obelix on SNES ; way better than Asterix. Music & graphics are here legendary and the 2 player coop makes it a childhood classic (best infogramme game ever) - Legend on SNES by Arcade 7 (literally 2 French dudes in a cave who made better looking Beat'em up than SEGA's Golden Axe, and Imo better playing, there I said it) Dunno if they really never left Europe tho

Man Overboard - Mega Drive Spirou - Mega Drive + others Micro Machines Military - Mega Drive Micro Machines 96 - Mega Drive, but I guess mostly MM2 with an track editor. Tintin in Tibet - Mega Drive and SNES, not sure if PAL exclusive Probotector? it is the same game, but it is different/"exclusive" for PAL There are some that is exclusive for PAL on a certain console, but is on Nintendo in NTSC etc.? Cannon Fodder is only on PAL Mega Drive, but is of course on a lot of platforms everywhere.

The Ottifants was one of my first Mega Drive Game. It was only released in Europe and Brasil. The Ottifant is a creation of German comedian and actor Otto Waalkes. The name is a portmanteau of Waalkes' nickname Otti and the German word for elephant. There is also a Game Gear and Master System Version. I like this game quit a bit and even made a review of it.

You should do a franchise exclusive episode of looney toons games. (Looney tunes collector alert) on gameboy color needs to get some exposure, its literally one of my favorite games ever, yet gets no recognition. Its basically an open world game where you unlock tons of characters, they each come with a special ability and attack. These abilitys function as manual triggers and progress the story when used in the right place. For example bugs can go through rabbit holes, daffy can swim, the old witch can fly, Marvin can shoot, taz can spin and destroy, ect.. once a character is unlocked they can be switched to at any time in the game. There are secret characters that arent even needed to collect to progress yet still come with a function to interact with the world. There must be 30+ chracters to collect and play as, and the environments give you the opportunity to explore your favorite locations and see how all the characters interact and co-exist with eachother. Theres no arcade elements or forced linear level progression, you can go where you want and do what you want, kind of like link to the past.

Jet Moto 3 is an awesome game. It feels like it was made for the dual analog sticks this time whereas the previous games felt awkward or stiff to control. Single Trac did make an unofficial Jet Moto 3 called STREAK, which handles and sounds just like what you'd expect from their earlier games. It even has a jump button like the real Jet Moto 3.

Also, fun fact, I used to be on a message board that was sometimes frequented by developers who worked on the Jet Moto series. They were working on a new Jet Moto that was progressing well until Sony came in to check on it's development. They played the game and were frustrated by how difficult it was. The developers explained that they were trying to make a game that played like Jet Moto 1, and that the challenging controls was part of the appeal. Apparently Sony informed them that people didn't want challenge, they wanted to win. Then they left and a short while later the project was canceled.

When this came out, I picked it up from GameStop, popped it into my friend’s system, played for 5 minutes, and returned it the next morning. It was one of the most boring shooting games I ever played, and seeing it again here reminded me of exactly why I wanted a refund. Xyanide blows.

One of my favourite games that never made it to Europe is Scooby Doo Mystery for the Genesis. I'm upset I can't call this one a game from my childhood because I loved Lucas Arts styled games, still do. And the Gems sound driver isn't really terrible. Both Earthworm Jim games used Gems, and EWJ2 even has some vocals in the music. I guess it depends on how well composers used it.

The secret to the GEMS sound driver is to only use said driver if you are doing jazz, funk, prog rock, or hip hop genre songs for the most part. Funk, especially, is a good fit for GEMS simply because it's loaded with skunky bass and has a decent percussion set. Jazz is a good fit because GEMS has decent vibraphone and clarinet analogues...alongside a lot of bass choices. Prog rock works reasonably well because the GEMS instruments are somewhat unusual, which is in keeping with the classical-meets-rock idea behind prog. Hip Hop works fine with GEMS as long as you are also making good use of the sample channel since early hip hop draws so much of its general instrumentation from funk, with with jazzier percussion. This collection of base genres also allows you to do a bit of New Jack Swing since it's essentially hip hop + jazz + funk with some R & B (three out of 4 ain't bad). All of this said...the big problem was that it totally wasn't a driver for musical beginners, but that's exactly who it was marketed to.

Hi Joe, this is Oliver from Germany. Good to see, that you alreadey covered Turbo Toons and Noah‘s Arc. Would have been inmidst my suggestions. There Are more NES Titles left in Europe: like... 1. Banana Prince 2. Crackout 3. Dropzone (technical Masterpiece) 4. Elite (technical Masterpiece) 5. Hammerin‘ Harry 6. New Ghotsbusters II 7. Over Horizon 8. Konami Hyper Soccer But you should definitely do SUPER TURRICAN, as it was created by only one Human alone (ok, there was this guy from Danmark who helped with music or so). This was Manfred Trenz, the creator of orig. Turrican on the c64 (where is was already a design Masterpiece). He did the NES port and the game is unbelievably good. But be sure to run it in 50 Hz, as it runs waaaay too fast on a US NES.
