Good play through, I am glad you kept your “redo”s in. I started laughing in round 8 because I redo a lot and glad I’m not the only one. This is fun to learn, thx to your vid. I appreciate that it a solo only game, so no pressure to think fast😂.

Same. Very glad for the “redos” because that’s how we learn. Watching you do it is reassuring.

Thanks for another excellent play through and impressions. It’s the best example of this I’ve seen. I especially appreciate the narrating if decisions to understand why you are making certain moves. It really helps in deciding if the game is right for me (as a KS backer, it confirmed I will enjoy it :) I also appreciate your honesty with pluses and minuses. As much as we all may search for that ‘perfect game’, it’s nice to know exactly what the game is instead of glossing over a game’s limitations.

I love that games like this now exist and I’ll probably get it thanks to your review. I just couldn’t help but feel your final recap was a “tell me you don’t like this game that much without telling me you don’t like this game that much” 😆

Halfway through the campaign I was definitely in a “not liking the game that much”, partially because of an overpowered card that Shem says he’s rebalancing for the release. But by the end I was enjoying it again ;)

I know you are not big on euros just like me but I'm definitely buying this when it hits retail (I love Hadrian's wall with campaign). It's fun supporting a solo only game from such a company.

Thank you, this looks like a lot of fun. I somehow get an Orleans vibe and I love Orleans so I will certainly back this. 🙂

Oh, good comparison. Though I bet this game would be even better with some bag building 😜

This definitely has some feels for Hadrians Wall and maybe Paladins as well. Looks like a fun solo game that works.

Yes, I’ve been playing Hadrian’s a lot recently and agree they have some of the same DNA

The game looks well done in how the mechanisms make the choices meaningful. Not sure that I'm explaining myself very well, but got the impression that the way the game works is very simply and elegantly done. Not a lot of fiddly moving parts so the game seems to flow well (pun not intended but I'll take it! lol) I'm not a fan of promo cards but that is my only negative from what I've seen. Thanks for the playthrough Mike, and excellent impressions.

I found this one easier to access than something like Paladins of the West Kingdom, since it’s only solo and all the rules are on that play mode. Always easier than trying to figure out how an automa or solo mode works ;)

This is giving me big Hadrian's wall vibes. If you had meeples instead of markers. Lots of combotastic turns too.

Managing the enemy row looks like a tense push and pull. I'm curious about the win/loss balancing.
@OneStopCoopShop

The balance was good, except for one card that made things a bit too easy in my campaign. But Shem is rebalancing that one, so shouldn’t be a problem in the final version

Thanks for the video. What are your thoughts on replayability? Which one do you enjoy more Paladins or Yu?
@OneStopCoopShop
@OneStopCoopShop Жыл бұрын
There was a lot I didn’t see in my campaign play, but things wouldn’t change much overall. It’s more the order of unlocks, and how that changes the tactical puzzle game to game. So I’d say replay is reasonable. And I didn’t enjoy paladins as much as many people. Viscounts is my fave of the west kingdom trilogy. So I’d rather play this than paladins :)

@@OneStopCoopShop got it! I went through a big Hadrians wall phase a bit ago. The minor campaign elements of this remind me of the campaign they released for HW. Same issue with similar strategies from harm to game although they do force you down certain paths at times.

I'm not a big fan of the art/style but looks an interesting solo game. I think the retail is the best option for this one

I like this art a lot more than the Mico’s stuff for the West Kingdom etc. :) But it’s all subjective of course ❤️
@biffybeans

There were several elements of Hadrian’s Wall I really didn’t like, (hard to see sheets, constant meeple swapping, forgetting to mark things…) but what made me get rid of it was that you seemingly had to do a similar progression of things in every game and I found that frustratingly repetitive on top of the other things I didn’t like about it. This games gives big HW vibes but it seems deeper with having to keep agreed of the wave and battling with the Barbarians. Being only able to watch one of your playthroughs of this game, I can’t tell if it has a similar progressive build up in every game like HW. It’s seeming more like Architects and I like that but I want to make sure.
@OneStopCoopShop

Hm… I think Legacy of Yu has some of the same elements that seemed to bother you in Hadrian’s Wall. There is a consistent flow to the scenarios (build the River up this quickly, fight enemies by this turn, build the same 3 buildings). So yeah, based on what you said, I might avoid Yu!

@@OneStopCoopShop thank you for your honesty, I will! I think that’s why I like Uwe Rosenberg games so much- so many different ways to explore playing a single game so long as you don’t care about beating your own score. I just wish there was another Garphill game for me.

Maybe try Viscounts of the West Kingdom? We have a play and review on the channel. Both the automa and the player can pursue pretty different strategies game to game
