Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Mia Sara (she started filming the movie when she was 15 years old) and Tom Cruise.
Recreate with a stunning scenography (an enormous forest with streams was built inside the movie studios) a beautiful and simple fairy tale.
There are four versions of the movie
- The American theatrical release (89 min.) 1985
- The original European release (94 min.) 1986
- A network TV version (94 min.) 1996
- The Director's cut (113 min.) 2002
...and two different soundtracks
- The Jerry Goldsmith's score (European version)
- The Tangerine Dream's score (American version)

It's amazing to me that they constructed this all on a soundstage. It looks so real and what it's suppose to be, a ancient forest. Just beautiful. I always had thought it was someplace real, but then I did some research and found out it was all on a soundstage, except at the end when Jack dives into the pool to find Lily's ring, that part was filmed at Clear Water, Florida. Love the movie and the soundtrack.

There is a version without dialogue from the legend OST entitled the unicorns related to this scene.

Since there are unicorns in that video, I just thought to share that fact. The word unicorn came from the Old French word unicorne, which in turn came from the Latin word unicornis. Can you believe that?

For me the Directors Cut has a much better final edit. I like both the Jerry Goldsmith and the Tangerine Dream scores, but the edit for the US cinema release is quite clunky in places.

I don't like this European edition of the film. despite being a fan of the composer Jerry Goldsmith, the Tangerine Dream score is much more melodious and profound! so I really like the American version of the film, with a more etheric and spiritual score and more elaborate montages.
