My favorite detail is in episode 3, when the party are talking discreetly in front of the Briarwoods. Vex covers her mouth with a fan when she talks, because she can read lips thanks to the Observant feat, so unlike the others she's aware that other people might be trying to read her lips too.

Great list! Here are a couple others off the top of my head: The party in the very first scene was modeled after The Fellowship from LotR, and their unceremonious exit is a sort of wink to tell the audience that this show is not that. Scanlan’s character intro song mentions the confused naming of Vax/Vex, which is a nod to Sam oftentimes mixing up their names. And a bit of trivia re Vex/Vax: they’re twins because Laura and Liam share a birthday irl, and they thought it’d be fun to incorporate that into their characters.

Not to mention (I didn't know this, and had to be told, 'cos I don't use closed captions at all) that even the closed captions mix Vex and Vax up sometimes.

I think it is stretching a bit to say the opening bar scene is a nod to LoTR. It seems to be more of a nod to the trope that many DnD campaigns start with the group meeting in a bar. C1E1 begins with Vox Machina arriving in Kraghammer and making their way to a tavern. C2E1 begins with the not yet Mighty Nein meeting in a tavern. C3E1 again finds the yet unnamed group joining in a battle outside a tavern.

Great video! Here's some more potential ones we spotted: 1) Episode 1: Keyleth being the only one failing her save against the Dragon's Frightful Presence passive ability 2) Episode 1: the dragon fight being largely in Initiative/Round base & appropriate to their Lvl 5 characters (Vax throwing 3 daggers - 2 attacks with Atk Action & 1 as a bonus action; Percy shooting twice every time for 2 attacks with his attack action, etc) 3) Episode 2: Scanlan sliding on the gold pile potentially being a The Hobbit reference to scenes with Bilbo hiding from Smaug Fantastic show so far and love the level detail and fun they're having with it!

Before Travis and Laura started dating, Travis contacted her about getting a spot on Dragonball, where he could scream on full rage with all the transformations. While he didn't manage to get a part in there, we finally see a similar scene here, Grog screaming while his muscles buff up and the ground under his feet starts breaking, much like in EVERY DRAGONBALL TRANSFORMATION! Man, its so great to be able to just straight up, objectively say they've all done a helluva job. And its almost SO full of Easter Eggs it gets to mind blowing level and you just give up, lol. As per usual DnD campaign I've played, too, the Critical Role "Bag of Holding" becomes a bag of hoarding, and my mind can't even keep up with how many things we're likely to see referenced from it. I love the silent, cruel way they pull off Silas and Delilah. They managed to capture the villainy of the way it felt watching the stream, and that is pretty damn awesome. Its both great to have the weekly trickle of episodes, and also maddening... but a smart business choice, I'd guess, lol. Especially after the drop of the second set of 3 episodes. Its almost a shame that future bingers won't get the anticipatory feel that you're left with after episode 6. :D

Vax's snake was neither of your explanations. It refers to Vax's belt "Simon" which when thrown on the ground turns into a snake and is great for distractions. Also Vax treats Simon as a pet.

I think he was more referencing the addition of Simon's eyepatch, which wasn't in the stream but is a pretty awesome little visual addition.

At a cursory glance, I don't think anyone in the comments pointed out Vax's belt is named Simon, a Serpent Belt that he had acquired pre-Campaign One when the group was using Pathfinder rules. Fantastic list, and happy to see several easter eggs that I easily glossed over as generic items.

The same thing happens when Sylas and Deliliah are walking down the hallway in the castle and walk in front of a mirror. You see Deliliah's reflection but don't see Sylas in the mirror. I thought that was a awesome eye for detail done by the animation team

8:00 I mean, that's a cute explanation, and maybe the eye-patch was a reference to one of those characters. But it also means that this snake has only one eye... I think the dumb joke came first, any other references is either coincidental or a second thought. I loved that joke btw, I don't remember if it was in C1, but I only noticed it on my second viewing and it made me laugh way too much for what it is.

The party that gets wiped out in the very first scene reminded me strongly of the characters from the 1983 "Dungeons & Dragons" cartoon. Most of the iconic items where there (except pulling something out of a wizard hat), and they swapped who held the items (by gender, for example), but I'm pretty sure this was an easter egg.

Didn't see it listed, but another easter egg to be found in Ep.3 can be seen during the fight between Sylas and Grog in the fountain pool. Near the end of the fight, Sylas charges Grog with his sword, Craven Edge, in a low guard, its tip slashing through the water before the strike. The angle of the "camera" makes the whole thing very reminiscent of the "wave-slicing stroke" from Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima's "Lone Wolf & Cub". The panels in the manga showing the move is VERY close to what we saw here. And I'm pretty sure they showed a similar PoV shot in the live-action films starring Tomisaburo Wakayama as Ogami Itto. To me, it was an obvious homage to what is arguably the finest manga of all time (and possibly the most famous).

Not sure if it’s a reference/Easter egg but when the gang deposit their weapons at the banquet it reminds me of a similar seen in the movie Sinbad, a not so popular Dreamworks movie from the early 2000’s. I loved it as a kid though so it stuck out to me

Nott's flask and Vex's witch hat and broom are also in Gilmore's. The lens flare in the opening of the first episode is a D20, there's a wyrmwood dice box set in the foreground of Scanlan finding the troll dick, Scanlan's hand punching through the boulder is also a D20. Sylas is missing his reflection in the mirror before they get to their room, and Simon having only one eye could also make him a one-eyed trouser snake :P
