Battle starts at 0:43
This is the boss of the Ancient Cistern and also the fifth boss in the game. He looks like a giant idol with multiple arms. The way to win is to use the whip to pull his arms off and then attack his heart. After some damage, he'll grow legs and draw multiple swords to attack you; rip off his arms and use his own blades to cut his legs off and attack his heart.
After the battle, Link powers up his Goddess Sword and notices that the Triforce of Courage is resonating on his hand.

Practically everything about the Ancient Cistern is based on Buddhist mythology. The statues of Buddha throughout the level, the climbing of the spider's thread out of the hellish basement level (representing the short story "The Spider's Thread) and Koloktos is based on the Asura (Lower ranking deities with three heads with three faces and six arms who have become corrupted by the evils of the world including envy, wrath, lies, vanity and aggression)

My theory about the child laugh Koloktos make is that Ghirahim somehow trapped a soul in the armor of Koloktos and the soul was the energy to power up Koloktos and after Koloktos is defeated, the soul is released from its prison and laughs at Link as a sign of gratitude for being free from Ghirahim's grasps.

Just killing a boss with its own weapon makes it ten times more fun. Like the tennis matches with Phantom Ganon or chopping Koloktos's legs off with its giant blade and then slicing open its metaphorical ribcage and proceeding to slash its heart repeatedly. Good fun, that is.

@@netweed09breath is easily the shittiest zelda game for me. The story sucks (how does a zelda story fucking suck!). The combat is boring (easy) The soundtrack pales in comparison to Skyward swords. The bosses honestly pale in comparison too, Breath doesn’t have 1 interesting boss fight, they’re all the same, they are all cakewalks with absolutely no immersion. You may aswell play dark souls and challenge yourself a little bit. But botw fans are about as simple minded as they come lets be honest.

@@biraptor6205 I loved the motion controls the dungeons, characters and the whole presentation. Just sadly, it was awfully linear, half the bosses were totally bland and it was short overall. Sigh. Still want a HD remake though; if any Zelda deserve it , it's this but I hope they preserve the dreamy bloom lighting. Making it crystal clear sharp would ruin the visual uniqueness of the game
@5id.
@5id. 4 жыл бұрын
@@netweed09 what you mean with linear? I mean It's not a sandbox and how the game progresses is compared to OoT. And still being linear isn't something bad, in my opinion, for the story it has is perfect. You couldn't get the same effect if its an open world game. Bosses are great, I personally loved Grahim, Demise and Tentalus, but more variety would have been great. And short isn't either. 7 dungeons were perfect for the story, plus the different secondary scenarios. Probably I misinterpreted something?
@netweed09
@netweed09 4 жыл бұрын
@@5id. Well yea I understand some people still like linear games. But I feel generally , Open World is the mature way to go about things, no one likes petty invisible walls and corridor gaming in 2020 anymore. That said, Skyward is in my top5 Zeldas: it is the rare exception. It's story was solid but the direction and art was so full of charm and originality, I was almost in tears (lol sorry) I still go back and play when I can. Breath1 could not even hope to have Skyward's finesse in storyline and characters - it even straight up rips off the Springs and Loftwing statues (although, so ironic every version in Breath1's references are smaller than Skywards 'real' life enitites

Thunderblight Ganon was just annoying. I hate that speedblitzing shit. I usually love difficult boss battles but if I can't even see or react to what the fuck I did wrong then that annoys me only. I love when I'm able to see how a boss works but just aren't able to do it yet because I'm not skilled enough. When you finally get it down perfectly without taking any damage and manage to give the boss the initiative to attack as rarily as possible then you feel like an absolute god.

Hey, I realized something! This boss is just like the rest of the temple: it as buddhist/indian look of the surface (the armor) will it also have that weird creepy side that's underneath the cistern (the purple/black stuff that attach the limbs and that laugh at the end). Also, something tell me it as the same purpose as Gohdan in Wind Waker, put there by the gods to protect something (the Farore Flame). But unlike Gohdan, Koloktos is boosted by Ghirahim magic. One part by the gods, one part by the demons. The beautiful side and the creepy side of the ancient cistern. And yes, I know that the temple is inspired by a buddhist legend. that would also means that the rivers of poison in the undergroudn of the cistern are actually rivers of BLOOD. I'm not kidding, look up TV Tropes.

This battle was a huge shout out to all the Wind Waker fans. Liftable swords, a room taken straight from The Tower of the Gods, breakable pillars, and an ancient-robot boss just like in that dungeon. Damn I flashbacked so hard when he started smashing pillars and dropping swords.

Dude they should make an anime off of skyward sword but like actually well made (unlike that joke ass of a cartoon we got) take for example Nier Automata, they're making an anime off of it and it's crazy both the game and anime, besides Skyward sowed and probably most of the Zelda games are so anime - like to say the least

That music for the Klocktos fight is some of the best in any Zelda game. I love getting to use that giant scimitar in the fight as well. Plus you close out with upgrading the Goddess Sword to it's best look. I always like to call it the Courage Sword after that. Plus I liked this Link enough that I tracked down his amiibo so I could get his outfit for Breath of the Wild.

Theory: Splatoon and Legend of Zelda universe is connected. Since most of you come from the splatoon statue. Once Koloktos have been defeated, and after humans were extinct, and come along the Inklings, Koloktos became just some rusty metal. The Inklings found the ancient Koloktos just to restore him to become a statue. Koloktos's spirit were still in there, so that's how it laughs.

Fun fact: after you rip off the two arms he slams on the ground, you don’t actually have to rip off the arms guarding his weak point, you can run up and stab the weak point during the attack in which he raises said arms and slams them into the ground.
