I had a Betamax too in 1982. My daughter bought me the movie “Blue Brothers” to play on it. Thanks for me remembering this at age 72 when you me mentioned it. I was a big fan of Cheers too. I worked evenings at the USPS and used my Betamax every night.

This is one of the best moments and best interviews I’ve ever seen on this show. The public deserved to see a genius like this revealed and open. Especially an older audience who watched shows like Cheers and Taxi at a young age and a different time. Jimmy I like and some things I dislike, but he was just terrific here. Perfect really. Great job. The trust was there and the investment by Jimmy. Genuine understanding of another person and not just pre staged questions. James a legend and blessed with empathy and an ego in check, but still that comedy ability to rip on people and the bullshit of life.

I want Jimmy Burrows to know that his work is also a deep part of Australian culture too. These shows are ingrained on the Australian psyche. Every Aussie knows the Cheers theme, Latka from Taxi, Rachel's hairdo, Will, Grace, Karen and Jack. You are responsible for the happiness of so many Australian people.

A million thank yous to talented James Burrows and his exemplary writers for the best shows in entertainment history. Cheers was my Thursday night addiction back in its day. I recently binge watched over time all 275 Cheers episodes. Best. Show. Ever. Friends, Taxi, Frasier, Will and Grace so epically well-crafted and exceptionally spot-on funny. Over the years at Emmy awards and events I've captured my photo with the incredibles: Ted Danson, Shelley Long, Rhea Perlman, Kelsey Grammer, and Danny Devito. I cannot wait to read Mr. Burrows book! Thank you again for the laughter, tears, and everything in between. Great interview Jimmys! And you know that question "If you could have anyone over to dinner who would it be?" Answer: James Burrows! Oh the stories. 😀

I have watched so many of his shows since the late 70's. If his name was attached to it, you had a future classic. All of the themes covered, being dialed into the culture of the time, superior and diverse cast without being woke (just everyday, often times kookie people living their lives without an agenda) and long lasting. I was watching just before 2amc and I immediately ordered his book!!! That will be a best seller for sure. Such an icon; he's warm, funny and very down to earth. A trooper after 50+ years of undoubtedly dealing with some major egos.

Fun fact. Fred Dryer was in serious consideration to play the part of Sam Malone. The writers had intially made the character a former football player which Fred actually was.. The writers changed the background to a former baseball player and the rest is history. A few years later Fred would get the lead role in HUNTER. A police /action drama which ran for 7 years.
