There are millions and millions of fried chicken restaurants in Korea and it's almost impossible to find the legendary good one!!! So I decided to introduce you guys a couple of legendary Korean fried chicken place in Suwon! Suwon is about an hour away from Seoul, you can get there by bus or subway. Go to Suwon station (subway line 1), then take a taxi and tell the taxi driver "Chicken street"! It's so famous, they will know! The taxi from Suwon station to the chicken street will be around $3, so definitely worth!!

When I make fried chicken, I never use flour. I use corn starch. I make a starch egg batter (1 whole chicken would be 1 1/2 cups starch, 2 eggs, and add water until it creates a very thick batter), dredge it in starch, dip in batter and fry immediately. It will take a bit longer for the batter to brown (not like normal flour batters), which means the extra frying time make it more crispy. Season the batter like you would a normal flour batter.

Kayla Jenkins cornstarch alone has no protein and won't brown, so I suppose the egg helps with browning

I always double fry my fried chicken, as Maangchi taught, to get that extra crispiness. But that is one crispy KFC Seonkyoung!

Me too!! Double frying makes it crispy, but without their secret batter, it won't get "that much" crispy!!

FitAngie it's breaded in corn starch instead of flour and twice fried.

FitAngie Potato starch but some ppl use corn start since it is easier to come by. If you have an Asian grocery near you, you should be able to get potato starch. It is amazing the difference it makes and the chicken stays crunchy even as leftovers right out the fridge.

Yes, even with french fries or any food that you want to be really really crunchy. You need to double fry them.

yeah i found that out years ago but it takes a bit longer cause you gotta let it dry before second fry and if its still not crispy enough you can do third fry but be careful to not burn it

My secret to my batter, it doesn’t need frying twice though. It’s ICE. I don’t know why or how, but when you put ice on your batter it makes it super crunchy!

Yes, there is potato starch in it. In Hungary we don't make a batter for the traditional fried chicken, but we first dip it in flour, then in mixed eggs, then in breadcrumbs, and the deep fry. (And single fry.) Different, but still good. We usually eat it with mashed potatoes, and pickled mini cucumber, or other kind of pickles.
