Shirley retired in 2020 to be with her babygirl Amber who eventually passed away. I have followed The Shirelles since I first heard them in1957. My cousin and I attended their shows in Chicago at several venues. Thanks for the memories.

What you don't see on this video is that at the end of the show the Ladies invited us up on stage to dance with them. One of my most memorable evenings. I am doubtful that such a tremendous cast of talent could ever again be assembled in such a small venue. My piano lessons paid off - not that I learned anything but my teacher Ronnie Lawson who became a dear friend was playing keyboards for this event and had given my friend Jerry and I tickets. We both fell in love with all these ladies. Thanks Ronnie!

I remember watching this as a 10 year old back in 87, thinking this was the most awesome thing ever. My sentiments haven't changed in 2019.

I’ll NEVER get tired of watching this show!!!.. It brings both a smile and a tear to my soul!!., RIP Lesley and Mary... and the great Clarence Clemons. I bought the original VHS version years ago and I’m so glad to see it in laser form, much more defined and great sound!!!

Always wondered who missed her line in “ Da Do Ron Ron”.. I think it was Martha.. and then, why didn’t Ronnie join the others in the last number(“ Dancing in the Street”).

@@karinaport I think it was edited strangely. I've no idea why, but at least one song was cut, and I sense the whole group songs were done at the end, so I think it was re-sequenced for some reason. I love it too and have recommended it to friends too many times!

Fantastic performances! I also have the VHS recording that I play on my bigscreen using Chromecast. Takes me back to the "stage shows" at the Regal Theater in Chicago and going backstage to meet the stars! I have favorite artists today but they don't compare. LONG LIVE THE OLDIES!!!!

BEST VERSION !! The whole show. Great picture. 1987 got some of the best of my generation together. We recorded it on VCR and replayed hundreds of times. Hook this KZfaq to your flatscreen & get down to a real American music show. No, it will never happen again. TgT

The quality of this recording is excellent. I have the VHS which I transferred to DVD (and posted the songs individually on here), but I'm downloading this for my own use. Thank you. Still waiting for it to come out on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Truly a once in a lifetime legendary event, have played VHS tape so much and worry it will wear out some thirty years later, so very happy for this fantastic post loving all these incredibly great performers and their awesome performances in peak form, sadly nothing close to this will ever happen again, this is the Ultimate Event!!! Would be great to have "Legendary Ladies Of Rock & Roll" remastered and released as it should be on DVD!

I think GRACE SLICK and BELINDA CARLISLE were only there as WEST COAST REPS --- remember, prior to 1965-ish, MOST MUSIC came from the EAST COAST, primarily NY (with HQs for Labels, Studios, Talent, and Publishing), NJ, Philly, and Detroit !! GREAT SHOW -- some of my favorite LADIES OF SONGS.

It's 7 years since you've posted this wonderful show but I'm just finding it now and gotta say THANK YOU! I don't think I even knew about it back then. Also, just in terms of the production itself, I'm only disappointed about two ladies that weren't on the bill but should have been: Mary Wilson and Peggy March. I hope it was that they were unavailable rather than not have been invited.
