Today we try a famous food challenge that was filmed for the Man Vs Food show in Milwaukee Wisconsin! We are at Mulligans in Franklin WI taking on their giant Irish Shepherds pie challenge. Challengers have 45 minutes to eat the meal to get the meal free, a t-shirt and a $75 gift card! Fail and you will have to pay for the meal and join the list of the many failures!

Weird... so many comments explaining the difference between cottage and shepherd's pie, when Joel CLEARLY explained it in the video. Every video I have watched (I watched many recipe videos because I wanted to make it) gets so many people in the comments in a tiffy that we call it shepherd's pie. Good grief, it's really NOT that serious.

I know right? Reminds me of a Pennsylvania Dutch page I follow on FB. Everyone argues about what a real pot pie is. I grew up in Ohio, and our pot pie was baked in a crust (like pie). I married a man from PA. His aunt made pot pie with square noodles, (no crust). We always called that chicken and noodles. I was perplexed. 🤔 Soooo it's made in a "pot" with noodles but not a pie. And the pie crust version is both, (started in a pot and finished in a pie crust). I guess it depends on where you grow up. Either way it's delicious food. 😋 BTW, I only eat fish or poultry, so I make my Shepherds/Cottage pie with ground chicken or turkey. 😉

Just a suggestion: instead of taking the time to scrape the platter with the spoon, use the bread to swipe it all up and save time. Besides, the gravy on the platter would help the bread go down more easily! I really wanted you to beat Molly's time. Massive challenge and a great win!

That looks delicious! They call it cottage pie cause it’s made with ground beef. Real shepherds pie is made with ground lamb. Hence the “shepherd” Great Job!!!

In the Americas, we don't readily have minced lamb so this is what our Irish immigrants had to work with and they called it shepherd's pie so we call it shepherd's pie

Good job with the shepherd's pie! I saw another pro eater fail at it. Interesting seeing you drive through Milwaukee and comment on it. Schlitz Park is where the old Schlitz Brewery was. Near there is where the Blatz Brewery and Pabst Brewery were. The Miller Brewery still exists but is a few miles West of the downtown. Wisconsin's state capitol is actually in a city called Madison located one hour West of Milwaukee. Thanks for coming to Wisconsin and Milwaukee and hope you come again!

If I ate 8 lbs of any comfort food (cottage pie, shepherds pie, fish pie….well, basically any meat/fish with mashed potatoes for me), I won’t feel warm and fuzzy inside 🤢. One pound is warm and fuzzy. Eight pounds is a large Irish family meal. Joel is a freak of nature!

As a big eater that isnt pro (just out eats all peers who think they can eat).. I would have spread the shepards pie on the bread. The mash potatoes help get down solids easier. Im not professional and Joel always amazes me in every video and im surprised he saved all of the bread for last. Loved the video!!!! Excited to see another.

For anyone wondering typically a shepherds pie is made with minced lamb, peas, carrots and herbs then mashed potato on top, a cottage pie is made with minced beef, onions and beef gravy with mashed potato and cheese on top 😊 and yes in from the UK so make both of these ALOT lol

sheperds pie is made with lamb, the clue is in the name. Sheperds look after flocks of sheep. I suppose they are an Irish pub so we can forgive them. Whatever you want to call it it was huge and looked delicious, hats off to you for finishing that.

I also didn't know this until I did my research. When it is made with beef it is called Cottage pie. Just recently fell in love with this dish. Never had it before but it was delicious.

Schlitz Beer was founded in Milwaukee. That city hall building is in the opening of the TV show Laverne and Shirley. Happy Days was also about Milwaukee.
