I didn't pay anything either and watched this fight when I was age 16 in 1977. I am age 62 now. Those days were the great times of boxing free boxing and none of this PAY PER VIEW CRAP!

@@life107familyfitnessboxing8 Ali vs Frazier was pay per view. At least Ali threw some punches in that one. This fight they looked like they were slow dancing.

Shavers looked clumsy and awkward throughout the entire fight and I think that influenced the judges and referee's decision. Ali looked more graceful and had better lateral movement than Shavers and slipped and blocked a lot of Shaver's punches. Shavers could have knocked Ali out on 2 occasions but failed to follow up more more punches to the head..

This is hard to watch ,Ali is at this point a heavy bag with no more snap in his punches ,Inoki beat whatever was left of his legs a year before .This fight is where Ali got hurt.

It was disgusting that his manager Herbert Muhammad put Ali in the ring after 1975 when the champ was planning to retire. The manager made more than Ali on each fight. This is the very dark side of the Ali story. They even sent him into the ring for those last two fights. If you love Ali this is a tragedy.

Tyson couldn't win George Foreman and Henry Cooper. I doubt if Tyson could win Frazier. No way Tyson could have won Great Ali in his prime

Its as if Shavers isn't trying. As if its fixed and Ali will win and Shavers agreed to let Ali take the decision. Other than that this is really a lousy fight. The beginning of the end perhaps . I've NEVER seen Shavers this lacksadaisicle...!I also don't remember this fight being this BAD !!

Shavers glaring weakness was his stamina. given what Ali did to Forman and what shavers knew about himself he was exceedingly cautious, not to waste punches. It was no coincidence that a slugger with questionable stamina was chosen as an opponent for Ali. It was this type of fighter he seemed to have the least trouble with guys that would reach guys that would lunge trying to hit him guys. It would chase him around the ring, he would use their momentum forward to the power of his punches.
