they 'confirmed' that bandle is last region, ixtal probably joining shurima, and void is kind joining based on the champ like reksai in shurima

Great game-design taking lessons learned from both Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone and fixing problems of both, while also being different enough to feel fresh. High quality animations and sound-design and a very very generous monetization scheme. I cannot complain.

Love the video, but I think it’s odd that you criticized Viego for not having flexible build options and then in the next breath praised Lurk, which has the least flexible build options of any archetype in the game.

Oh, Bricky, if you like milling your opponent, there's a whole Piltover/Shadow Isles deck running about, based around summoning a ton of Aloof Travelers through playing them and using Fading Memories/Stalking Shadows, then obliterating your opponents' draws through multiple Harrowings to summon all those Travelers again.

Love the vid, your first LoR vid got me into the game and I've been playing since, but I couldn't disagree more with the flexibility take with Viego and Lurkers. Now I am not gona say that Viego is an incredibly flexible champ but there is a decent variety of decks you can make with him. Lurkers is among the least flexible decks in the game. If you want to play Rek'Sai or Pyke the only way to make them any sort of useful is in a lurk deck, and the only way to make a lurk deck is to just throw in most of the cards with a lurk keyword and splash in some predict. To be clear I am not a lurk hater, I actually like the archetype but it is one of the most limiting deck types with very little room for creativity, certainly less than you would have with Viego. Anyways, great vid, I agreed with pretty much everything else you had to say, especially the cosmetics maybe not being up to par.

Okay that Cait deck is something I havent considered. New decks literally every day.

I would love to see more Runeterra content from you, I found out about this game from you, so glad to see more about it here. I play Viego decks a lot, but I can kind of agree with your opinion on Viego regarding deck building. I think it’s actually intentional, because Virgo’s whole shtick is taking everything for himself and the Shadow Isles. That being said, I see a lot of variations where Viego is paired with Shurima and the Freljord a lot.

I can see he doesn't play that much, but I admire he's passion for the game.

Take a look at howling abyss. I made a deck with only removal spells and howling abyss. You just delete the opponents win conditions until you just start spamming lvl 2 champions. It doesnt work all the time, but if it does, its the funniest shit.

This is the best card game in my opinion. It has amazing graphics, music, depth and it's really free to play friendly unlike hearthstone and magic where you need to pay so much money just to create a few competitive meta decks in order to enjoy the game. Gwent is also really good but legends of runeterra is just the better and more fun to play game in my opinion. Give it a try.

Augment gang. Before it was all about viktor/zoe creation, but im finding that Nami was a fine addition, if you prefer creating spells constantly instead of followers. its fun watching viktor with every possible positive keyword also reach stats like 60/20

Glad I finally find someone who feels the same about the recent level-up animation. I mean, while they look great, many of them doesn't have the same impact that old-style animations have.

Viego is kind of lacking when it comes to lvl up etc. but god damn that card is so good xD Nothing is funnier than stealing the strongest enemy card and blasting your opponent with 7/7 Encroaching Mists. Love that card so much

4:20 sorry to disappoint, but it was declared that there won't be any more regions. However, new champions (also the ones not part of an existing region, such as voidborns) will be put in regions with the same theme, like Nocturne (lorewise demacian, themewise a spooky demon, hence Shadow Isles)

I mean, you can play viego with ionia ephemeral units, or noxus ephemeral units, or with demacian challenger units, or with units that just have big power in general to try to flip him faster. You can also play him in control shells as a value engine like SI/Freljord and not really try to turbo level him, just slowly advancing his level up while he makes free pressure on the opponent over the course of the game. He's less 1 dimensional than you are making him out to be imo, but it's okay if you don't vibe with a few champions, there are so many of them!

I personally love the lvl up animations. I like to see the character leveling up more than the card itself. It feels glorious. Maybe because i grew up with Yu-Ghi-Oh! My biggest issue is that they disabled the global server (cross-shard challange) so you can't play with other players outside your servsr region :( I loved the 2v2 labs too and they retired it. The new labs is amazing too.

I gotta agree with you about the new levelups. The older ones like Swain, Twisted Fate, and Lucian were short, punchy, and memorable, the newer ones are too much.

As an enjoyer of finer details, lore expansion, and lastly cards games. Your original video on LoR is not only what got me to drop Hearthstone after 5 years and switch over. But it also what got me to binge your channel in its entirety and watch every upload since. Thanks for giving justice to games that really don't recieve the credit where its due and keep doing great man. (Just a side note on the regions: Riot said they aren't doing any more regions; they're releasing those champions within the regions they're most relevant to)

that game fascinates me, because you can get so specific with your decision making from turn to turn and actually have a win by just micro managing everything and then there are effects of cards that return them to the bench and then they survive, shits very intricate and i love it, i have only scratched the surface when it comes to learning the game, it takes some grey matter to get used to, reward? you get to play the game, crazy i know!

Viego actually has a ton of flexibility! He was released with the idea he'd go well with demacia and you'd have a dragons deck with him, because they ramp up into having such high damage. But at various times he's been popular with shurima, freljord, and especially ionia. I also personally really like his level up because it's fast- it gives him kind of a scarier vibe imo

Its been a long time since Ive played LoL and when I stopped I kind of stopped watching your videos since then they were still focused around it. However, I later saw some of your game reviews/commentaries and I really fell back into watching your stuff. I've always loved your style of humor and your commentaries in general. Viego has a lot of flexibility tbh. He pairs well with multiple regions such as shurima, freljord, and Ionia. He still has a place in the nasus midrange deck.

Had a weird game as a minion/spell buff Garen and Lux deck. Which is like the basic of basics. And my first match against a player ever was against a Fearsome/challenger Swain Elise deck. It wasn't a stomp out like other card games would have been. It was actually a very close back and forth where I survived the final push with 1 nexus health a won on the backswing. It was a fun experience as I didn't just straight up lose to power creep.

IMO is fitting that Viego is basically Si only since he's a selfish king who would do anything, no matter how horrible he is to get what he wants, and sacrificing his own units to grow stronger is a good way to represent his selfishness. Aside of that, great video, LOR is just getting better, I hope they don't lose this momentum and keep with this greatness in 2021 P.S: I don't mind the more cinematic Level up animations, I do think they could be shorter though, specially with ascended champions

I find it impressive how often I feel that the game is the best it's ever been.

Imo the Viego "problem" about the deckbuilding is not reeally a problem, card games usually tend to add center pieces that incentivate you to build around that specific card (mono colors in MTG, or "only paladin" and "no creature mage" in hearthstone). Having that option is always great for someone that REALLY loves a region. Shurima ascended is another example. I LOVE shurima, so having a deck DEDICATED around that makes my brain go happy chemicals, but I understand your point around card flexibility, Azir also goes well with Irelia so having both options is always best.

It's funny because while we made the same observations about Viego, we came to totally different outcomes, yes, Viego is difficult to pair up if you want him to help build up the other champion from other regions (although he does help level up Nasus from Shurima, Lucian from Demacia etc (Not talking about Shadow Isle champions, but there's a lot of them who benefit from you killing your units), but that's not his point. He's not a support, and he's one of the very few champions that are self-sufficient. He can really win you a game by himself with a few support cards, so you can basically add him to any deck, as long as he got some of his cards with him (there's only one card he really needs) it's fine. He doesn't even have to sacrifice his units that much, I mean, you gotta have blockers and they gonna die anyway; and he usually levels up by just summoning his mists (they are ephemerals and thus die at the end of the round anyway). He would work really well with any control kind of champion, that will keep you from dying again aggro decks in the beginnin, then once Viego is on the board; he'll take over. Not to say that he doesn't pair up with other champions and regions at all; Nasus and Viego make a good pair, Thresh and him; with followers and spells from Ionia is a powerful combo; my favorite is Kindred x Viego, they really compliment each other well and you can add another region since they are both from the Shadow Isles. Lurk is ACTUALLY the exception to the limited deck building rule. You literally can't play them with anything else; a good Lurk Deck has Lurk cards and that's it. If you don't put lurk cards in there, you're not gonna get the Lurk effect and die quickly, and horribly.

Lmao. There are SI Shurima, SI Freljord and SI Ionia decks with Viego and all of them are pretty good. Also, Viego being designed the way he is, is the perfect depiction of SI. Killing own units, spawning ephemerals and possesing enemy units. Considering he is heart of black mist its pretty fitting.

10:10 small correction: you don't have to attack with a lurk unit to trigger lurk, a lurking unit only needs to be the top card of your deck. It's a minor detail but lurk isn't so much about the attacking and more about giving signals of what's to come, and I consider it underpowered because your enemy gets hints of what your next draw is going to be, but we don't have cards that punish your enemy based on the kind of card on the top of their deck yet but when we do see cards like that, lurk will become garbage tier.

Great video. The only thing that bugs me is that you "complain" about the fact that Viego can only really fit into one deck (he's kinda limited I agree) but then use Lurk as a good point. Lurk is fun and has its place but it is one of if not the most limited deck from a deckbuilding perspective (next to Soraka I guess). You can't really use many cards without the Lurk keyword or your deck will be extremely inconsistent and there are not enough Lurk-cards for decks to be different. They all use more or less the same cards. The only real difference is if the deck is more Pyke or Rek'sai focused.

THANK YOU for mentioning the level up animations becoming less and less creative and more having the feel of playing a card of or to a champion rather than the card actually being the champion. It's so much worse and so much less creative, it kind of doesn't matter what the animation plays because the end is always the same. Nautilus, Gangplank, Ashe... These were some of the greatest. Not because of the quality of Animation but of the thematic Implementation into the actual card game going on and making you feel like you play the champion and they themselves are leveling up - as champions and cards.

Viego is innovative and not limited to a specific region or region pairing. His ability to turn enemies into unwilling allies or kill those who resist and add them to the mist anyway upon level up is in flavor. He does provide an encroaching mist when he arrives but doesnt need the Shadow Isles or an encroaching mist deck to be successful. He only needs friendly minions to die, a core mechanic as the game plays out, allowing him to sit back in any deck makeup and just wait if need be. Veigo can go into any deck that can contain shadow isle cards and succeed to some degree as the game progresses around him naturally. Lurk on the other hand is a key example of parasitic/toxic design in any game not just card games. It only works with itself, it only enhances ITSELF, it actively negates synergy with previous mechanics (rally, scout) with a once per turn, its limited to 2 specific regions, and it only works when you build around it using cards from those 2 specific regions (pyke's spear, predict). Splashing lurkers into any past/present/ or future deck will eventually lead to a shurima/Bildgewater lurker based deck as a whole, or canning the lurkers altogether. They are weak for their cost and become dead cards late game if they didn't get going early game.. Lurkers have hurt the game overall by bloating the card pool; if you pull a lurker card and don't want to build a lurker focused deck, then that card is completely useless to you until you do. When a card adds a random keyword to your creature, "lurk", will always be met with frown. When a card summons a random creature of a certain cost, the lurk creatures will be at the bottom of your wishlist. They are not innovative or part of the good you can expect form LoR. THEY are the exception to the rule!

Good video, but really weird that you praised Lurk and thought that Viego was too railroaded to one deck. In reality, it's nearly the exact opposite. Viego has a ton of build diversity and fits in many decks, because you will pretty much always have units dying, and one of Viego's strengths is that he makes your opponent hesitate to kill your units on occasion. Viego is overall very solid. By contrast, Lurk has exactly one deck. If you are not running almost entirely lurk cards, your deck becomes exponentially worse, because lurk only activates when the next card in your deck is a lurk card. This is one of the most unfortunate parts of Pyke's design; he's so cool and interesting as a champion and is translated exceedingly well, but he can only fit in one deck or he essentially becomes a 4 cost 2/3. Really cool video though, glad you're talking about LoR! (Also sorry about this, but the void is not coming. Bandle was the last region.)

I really liked and agreed with the whole thing I think I have a good answer to your Viego conundrum: since Shadow Isles is the only region that benefits from tributing allies, well just play mono-shadow then. Thresh, Kalista, Kindred will all appreciate working with Viego, and if you really wanna mix region then Nasus works well too!

I don't know if you will see this comment, but I enjoy playing the deck @Silverfuse played at one point where you use "return to hand spells" on your own encroaching mist and to replay them for 2 mana. Thus buffing Viego and the mist as many times as you bounce it, fun to watch. The landmark she used was "Monastery of Hirana" look up the card if your interested. :D

Loved this video. Although coming from hearthstone (and I can see where you’re coming from with Virgo and a lack of build diversity) some legendaries or champions shouldn’t fit into multiple things. If one good champion or legendary is good enough in multiple decks, it can make the meta quite repetitive and tedious when you have to go through grinding the ranked mode. The fun I get from card games comes from trying to make something that is clearly a dog turd of an idea into pure gold. Loved the catch up for rune terra tho, keep at it man

You got me into this game off your first video now I play almost every day.

To be fair, viego had like 3 different decks that I'm aware of that were meta. Viego/Nasus, Veigo Ionia, and I forgot, maybe it was thresh. So while he doesn't have a wide range of playstyles, not all need, it's still a couple of good decks. Tahm Kench/Soraka and Pyke/Rek'sai on the other hand have one and that's about it for now. Nautilus, kind of also only has one deck, but the deck itself has had modifications throughout the year.

They heavily promoted bandle city as the final region and made a post about how future void champions will be assigned to the regions that make the most sense with them with Rek Sai being the first

I actually came back to this game because of your previous video and have been playing ever since. Their free-to-play friendliness and deck flexibility are really the main selling points for me -- there's the allure of crafting these amazing deck ideas coupled with the fact that I *can* eventually create the necessary cards within 2-4 weeks of play.
