Your reasoning makes sense, but it's misinformed. Brahma & Saraswati are considered a couple only much later in Puranic history, something which isn't even accepted by all mainstream parties. The oldest Hindu gods are Vedic, the ones most similar to pre-Zoroastrian Iranian gods like Indra, Varuna, Mitra, & the sacred flame. Brahma becomes a major player only much later, even Saraswati's rise in importance is prior to his & that too as a maiden goddess, not a married one. Another question would be where do we draw a line between historically related but currently separate communities. Ultimately we're all the same humans who left Africa to spread all over the world. Do we all call ourselves African or Black?

Had not seen the comment earlier - Actually, even when literature is inserted on later dates into a full Volume of Scripture, the Scriptural volume gets regarded in its entirety and not piece-meal - Also, on the extreme, the New Testament of Christians (totally rejected of the Jewery) is attached to the 3,500 year old Jewish Tanakh, 2000 years ago; nevertheless, the New Testament is as Jewish as the Old and links up to all the Prophecies of the Tanakh Prophets. The New Test. add-on is not Christian by any whim of fancy and this is why it gets understood correctly only when studied thru Jewish perspective. Likewise, true that Brahma/ Saraswati come in later in the Hundreds of Hymns of the Rig Veda and more prominently in Mahakavya & the Puranas, but its still making up the Volume of the Vedas. @@gregnathan9830 there is a fundamental difference in how we Hindus interpret scripture vs the method you are describing here. While we do all accept the Vedas (previously 3, but they have been 4 for centuries) as revelation, the vast majority of our daily religious practices find their roots in later compositions that are considered human inventions. If one of these deviates from the Vedic narrative, it is the older version that takes precedence but people are still free to do & believe whatever they want. We treat scripture like the modern era treats the canon/fanfiction divide. Fanfiction is valid even when it contradicts the canon. The reason for this is that the oldest Hindu Law Book (the Dharma-Sutra by Apastambha) set a precedent for accepting any & all doctrines that are widely acceptable to many people in civil society. People have to explicitly reject the Vedas & all their practices to be declared non-Hindu. We have more flexibility about a wide variety of things, especially because the interpretive sister texts of the Vedas themselves are later inventions which reject certain practices common in the older era, & later works like the Upanishads & even sections of the Veda itself are nihilistic, atheistic & agnostic at various points. There are diverse opinions in the same collection of Vedic hymns & Upanishadic formulas, allowing us to pick & choose. If we want, an atheist, nihilist or agnostic can still be defined as Hindu if we say they only accept certain sections of the Veda. In our perspective, the acceptance & rejection of Jesus as the prophecied messiah is valid ground for treating Jews & Christians as fundamentally different people, even if they both rely on the same older tradition. The Muslims also similarly believe Jesus is a prophet who was superceeded by the final prophet Mohammed & they too rely on the same older tradition as the Jews. The rams slaughtered on Eid are the same as the lamb used to replace the son of Abraham, the one who was demanded as a sacrifice. Jews name the One God using the Hebrew term Yahweh & Muslims use the Arabic term Allah. But no one seems to want to claim the Muslims as part of their creed. Public consensus & personal consent carry a lot of weight, & we recognise that. It is not simply learned people interpreting scripture who are authorized to decide everything. There is no strong monopoly. If a group does not wish to call themselves something, their wishes have to be respected. Similarly, if a group does not want to accept some people as part of them, that is also a valid demand. That is how we have such a proliferation of caste & subcaste groupings in Hinduism. Compromises have to be made when one is a part of society. There are indeed people who compare medieval Islamic domination of Hindus to the persecution faced by Jews, but considering how many ancient Jewish festivals boil down to "they tried to kill all of us but failed" while Hindu festivals are more "We killed a bad person", I don't believe that is appropriate.

Actually, Jesus isn't a Prophet......HE was Yahweh Himself born of a Virgin even as Yitzkhakh (Issac) was born of an egg miraculously developing inside a 91 year old Sarah, Abraham's wife..... This is what Christianity removed from Judaism never got it, neither did the Jews for rejecting the New Testament..... ​@@gregnathan9830 I'm not really well-versed in the exact prophecies that were made about the Christ but yes, plenty of things get lost when an idea gets transferred from one culture to another. We see that happening even within the same religion as newer interpretations are drawn based on misunderstood metaphors crudely translated into modern languages & cultures that define things very differently. There is growing far-right sentiment all over the world these past few years as economics & pandemics collide to make left-built systems teeter as if on the verge of collapse. Punjab manages to stay comparatively secular because they have the prosperity to afford to be secular. They are the biggest beneficiary of agrarian reforms & the region is bountiful by nature. They're currently protesting legal amendments to those very same benefits. They are also the ones who most closely experienced the horrors of the Indo-Pak partition, & those memories are still fresh so they know that when violence of any kind breaks out, it spares no one. States which have worse economic conditions & less developed agriculture & industry see their people turn on each other & fight over limited resources & opportunities. It is fear & insecurity that make man see demons in every shadow & person, & so turn to whatever gods they know. That is how nature made us, to drive us to survive. No amount of God-men can stop that, sadly, & there are plenty who would misuse & misdirect those emotions. No, you weren't exactly clear about what you said, but I got the gist of it.
