@@stonerbellinger8679 From what I have read, Ruth was considered an above-average outfielder. His offensive superiority over his peers is greater than their defensive superiority over him, so I consider him the best rightfielder of all time.

Damn imagine if Seattle brought in Ichiro around 95-99 and Ken Griffey Jr and Ichiro were teammates. 2 gold glove outfielders on the same team; 1 leading off and batting .350; 1 hitting 45+ homers. That would've been insane!

So cool seeing the swings matched up. You can tell that they have two different goals in the way they swing: Ichiro knew his job was a leadoff, and to put pressure on the bases hence his emphasis on slapping the ball into the gap. Griffey is all power with a clean follow-through; you know exactly what he’s trying to do. 2 legends and my 2 favourite players.

These are two of my favorite players that I've watched. This video just shows how classy both guys are and how much respect they have for each other. Greatness recognizing greatness. I'm a life long Yankees fan and both have done well against them, but doesn't stop me from being a fan of both. And was ecstatic when Yankees got Ichiro for a little while and we got to see how great a player he is even when he wasn't at his peak. Would have loved to have seen Griffey in pinstripes just like his dad was.

ケングリ.jrが好きで、メジャー行く前に会いに行ったんだもんね。引退時、ケンjrも来てたしさ。個人的に、イチローが外国人になってわかったことの話だけど、jrも、涙してたD.ゴードン、その他外国人選手たちの大変さって、アメリカという国では重いんだと思う。だからこそ、余計に、イチローって偉大だなと思う。国も人種も超えたところまでいったんだから。そして、その位置で、他人への配慮の大切さを語るのだから。イチローの精神が裾野へ広がっていくよね。

I don't know what's more crazy the fact that Seattle had to Future Hall of Famers or that they both played the beginning years of their Pro days will the team that definitely did not deserve them I'm not even trying to go on that I'm a Mariners fan it's like how the fuck can you have so much talent on one team and not get the World Series Win

Ichiro. There’s a lot of players that were like Jr. throughout the history of Baseball, but nobody could do what Ichiro did. Most of the time people will be a hall of famer for excelling at one or two things, or being above average at everything. Ichiro excelled in every aspect of the game except for extra base hits, and even then, it’s been argued that he could easily have become a slugger, but wouldn’t have be as valuable as a lead off batter; he was playing in the steroid era, and there were already too many power hitters, so he perfected his role as lead-off instead.

Kevin C “Ichiro excelled in every aspect of the game except for extra base hits”. Griffey excelled in every aspect of the game period. There was nothing he didn’t do well. He had consecutive seasons with 56 HRs, 4 consecutive seasons with at least 48 HRs, and 7 seasons with at least 40. He drove in more runs, scored more runs had a much higher OPS, and won 10 consecutive gold gloves. The only things Ichiro did better were hit singles and steal bases, but Griffey was still a .300 hitter in his prime and had great speed. Griffey was better, and it wasn’t close.
