7 ай бұрынThe Escalation League for Legions Imperialis kicks off with our first game. Our challenge for the first mission; to build forces based upon the Sub-Cohort and Legion Demi-Company boxed sets, with an allowance of 2-3 additional kits to support it.
Rob takes command of the Penitent Auxilia, supported by Thunderbolts and an Errant Freeblade Knight taking on the Sons of Horus Demi-Company, supported by Storm Eagles, Kratos Tanks and Rhinos!
With a 600pt limit, we kick off our series as the wrathful traitors storm the hastily defended positions of the Auxilia!

With GW weird decision of designing the game to aim for 3000 pts and the majority of the complaints about legiones being the price factor, I love to see the community showing a lot of small point games and still being able to play a really interesting game

Yea, your right. I was really impressed with how well it ran at only 600 points. Ive also seen a 1500 and a 2k poitn game and they seemed large enough. 3k gonna be so many mini's. Seems there not that many channels doing batreps for this though, so if you know of any more, please let me know.

Rules mistakes aside (we all learning, they will go in time) I really enjoyed this. Not only was the game play and mini's really nice to watch and look at but the chat after about the fluff of the forces and what you guys want out of it was really good. Jink is used instead of armor not in addition to. See page 57 Multiple Save Characteristics. Also buildings save on 2d6.

Correct. This error is common because of GWs wording but it just adds to your available save options. Jink exists so that it can be modified by specific things(White Scars) and not be modified by normal things like AP or things that ignore invuls because it's abstracted as dodging. FnP is wording entirely differently too.

It's also unavailable if the jinking unit is on first fire, not if the unit shooting at it is on first fire.

TBH, given how incredibly fragile flyers are for their high price, it doesn't seem like it would break the game for Jink to function like a FNP. (But I say this without any games under my belt yet).

They did an errata. Storm Eagles do not have the tempest rockets anymore. Model never did. It was a typo.

I like this new format, with the intro and outro discussions. It is nice to get introduced to Ash's opponent. I think it is very sweet that Ash's friends all lie to him about how tall they are, so that Ash can keep convincing himself that he is 6'1", rather than the actual 5'6" that he is. 🤭 Talking about a shift in perspective, I'm surprised at how large the Thunderbolts are compared to the other minis. They are honkin' great chonkers. Looking at the Deployment diagram, I feel that the deployments zones for the table size used should be 8", rather than 6"; as 8" distance is to where the objective marker goes rather than to where the edge of the deployment zone is. 🤔 I like the ruin template idea; very cool. A little copy of the crashed Aquilla Lander from the 4th Edition Starter Set could be cool for set dressing.

Good as always but a few things I noticed. Cover is -2 to hit as well as providing a cover save. As others have said, it’s jink or a save. Not both. Formations at half strength are broken and are limited on orders. Detachments who suffer 50% casualties take a morale check or they fall back.

Broken is based on Formation casualties not Detachment, which is sadly more fiddly to track. Ion Shields don't ignore AP, they sort-of halve it though I don't think that would have changed anything in the end. Regardless of some minor rules niggles, great to see some LI content especially with such a nice looking board and minis.

Don't forget Interceptor on the many jet fighters. The thunderbolts would have finished the Eagles off anyway becuase Jink was used incorrectly, but it will matter in bigger games when you have air escorts to try to down opponents fighters to save your transport aircraft.

Your playing Jink wrong, its not a FNP roll its basically an invulnerable save that your model cannot take if your model has a first fire order

This ^^ Jink gives you an additional Save characteristic (if orders etc permit), but as per P57, this means you have an additional option to potentially pick from for making your ONE save, rather than an actual extra roll.

I like the improvements to the format and can't wait to hear more about these loyalist Night Lords. I have always liked that legion, because they are mostly pirates. Doing the work properly and then getting kicked out by their own government because they did the work with unsavory means. Working for the loyalists suits them just fine.

Assault btw doesn't give expoloding hits. Rapid fire does. Assault means you double # of dice you roll under short range.

Big fan of the channel! Seems like you were one the few that covered Battle Reports for E40k and it jump-started my interests for getting a live action taste for 3rd Ed. and Armageddon just before I learned of LI. Any notes about the terrain here and the choice for their bases they are on? I've been dabbling with proxy FDM, resin prints, scratch-built and GW peices. Would love to catch an episode on terrain only. Keep up the great work!

I much more like those smaller games bellow 1500 but most interesting for me look those in 500-1000 points range and on full size tables, still get a lot of variety in composition however its more tactical than two big forces where is no place to move and you always have something in range. I like when movement and especially deployment are crucial parts of game. I played mostly in 7th 40k and early 8th, but loved 7th with facings, templates and scattered deep strike all of that gained much more in atmosphere when played on 48x48 up to 1000 and for full size 72x48 table max 1500 points

That is correct. -2 to hit and you get your save improved to a 4+

Partially correct, you get a 4+ cover save, it doesn't modify your regular save. Unless it is classed as a fortification then it is a 3+ cover save.

-2 and a 4+ cover save for garrisons. -1 and a 5+ for infantry and walkers in ruins. Models with Ignore Cover ignore all those modifiers. We forget it now and then. First game of the series so that’s going to happen. :)

Quick question, in the rule book it says when deploying a flyer, the rear of its base has to be touching either the controlling players edge or up to 8 inches within the controlling board, meaning the flyer can either come in from the front, with the back touching the edge or the back touching the side edges, up to 8 inches. He had his plane come in at the 8 inches with his side touching the edge at 24:05 , basically just giving him a 33 inch move, instead of having him come from the sides or 8 inchs less. Did he just mess up or am I missing something.

Try using the ranges in cm, so a lascannons range is 22cm etc. I played FOW with micro armour using this metod, on a 6x4 table

I originally considered magnet/just keep turrets but a) I don't spam one weapon anyway so mix works fine b) I hate storing spare weapons c) noticed that the PAINT affects fit. It became hard to get snug fit without gap between hull and turret...That caused major headache for me as that is DEATH TRAP logically speaking.

How do sponsons work in this game, particularly in regard to arcs of fire? Is it like recent 40K, where if any part of the model can see the target, they can shoot? Or more old 40K, where the individual weapon has to be able to see the target?

If it has an arc then it is listed in the profile, otherwise you just measure from anywhere on the model and not from the weapon.

You can't switch into hover when you arrive from reserve you do at the end of your turn during the end phase instead of removing it.

A model with the Hover special rule is not automatically removed from the battlefield during the End phase. Instead, the controlling player may choose to ‘Hover’ the Flyer.

But I am wrong, as I have just found the override in the generic disembark rules on p97... Embarking and Disembarking from a Transport with the Flyer special rule works slightly differently. If a Transport with the Flyer special rule has the Hover special rule, then when a Detachment Disembarks from it the Transport immediately loses the Flyer special rule and gains the Skimmer special rule; if the Transport is part of a Detachment, then all models in the Detachment do this, even if no model Disembarks from them. Similarly, a model cannot Embark upon a model with the Flyer special rule - the Flyer model must be hovering for a model to Embark upon it

I have a warlord and the Titanicus box include the war hounds in the Imperialis box. Do I just need a bare minimum legion or auxilia force to attach them to. Maybe a video explaining how they get included in the game?

@@BlazyCrane they’re taken as allied detachments, so you never get more than 30% of your total points to spend on them. Basically, you’ll need to play at least a 2000pt game to field just a single Warlord
