Then add a whipple or turbo to the coyote and have the lightning everyone wanted in 2023. 850 reliable wheel daily hp or as high as 1200whp out of a stock sealed coyote. think about it v8 f150s and mustang gts can make that 1200whp and mustangs have ran 7s and f150s 8s in the 1/4 mile with stock sealed engines. think about it to buy another engine if needed . 3000 for a coyote and thats with e85 and its a 400whp truck. 10k for a whipple so you still get the supercharger noises and beef it up to as high as 950whp with any vmp whipple etc. me i would go turbo just because no swapping pulleys just adjust boost as you drive

That poor engine was abused to be that broken at less than 100k miles. For those who like engine carnage, there is an auto recycler who does engine tear downs every Saturday on the “l Do Cars” channel. This was just an appetizer what will probably be on his channel this evening.

Yup, awesome excuse to go built! I recommend JDM Engineering, even if you don't buy from them, talk to Jim Jr, and he can answer any and all your questions, very knowledgeable dude. Since your going built, I'd ditch the Eaton for a more efficient blower. Even if you don't want big power, you can make power more easily with a 2.3 whipple, than you can the Eaton. Eatons have to be pushed very hard to make what a 2.3 can make very easily, and with a lot less heat and stress on things. Cool video though. I'm also available if you have any questions. I've been around these for a while, and can either help ya answer questions, or point you to an OG Lightning guy who can 🤘😁 much love though, love the series! ⚡️

The 2v 5.4's are great engines N/A,seen many 300k mile trucks. A coyote swap would be more bang for your buck....the amount of money you will have into the forged 2v, you can swap a truck coyote with a 6r80 and make close to the same power without a blower and it will be more reliable. Foxcast Media is swapping my brother's 2003 Harley Davidson F150. BTW the the rotaing assemblies are same as the regular 5.4's.

I think it's amazing, Alex, that you produce this fantastic channel that provides regular, massive content drops that don't only speak to mechanics and car enthusiasts, but to neophytes like myself as well. You take the time to show and explain everything in detail and you never show fear, which for people like me is the #1 thing that keeps us from tackling car repair projects on our own: fear that we'll screw things up and/or make it worse than it was today. Respect for your knowledge, your confidence and your infectious, unbridled enthusiasm. :)

@24:50, when only one or two pistons show those signs, then it is typically a bad fuel injector(S) and not the tune. My guess is the fuel injector is clogged causing a lean mixture in the affected cylinders. You really should buy a new set of fuel injectors anyway and Fuel Injector Clinic injectors are the best for a boosted engine IMO.

@jamescole6846
@jamescole6846 Жыл бұрын
I would imagine so. It wont hurt the block but the cooling system touches plastic, rubber, aluminum etc.. there are probably some chemical properties of regular rust converter that would eat away at these but that's why they make THERMOCURE. People spend decades as mechanics and as far as they’re concerned, beyond a brake lathe they have no idea how important machine shops are to every single vehicle (including Teslas) on the road. “Ten over” are just words people use and they have no idea there’s meaning behind them. loved it, I was expecting to be a piston or a rod to be damaged, but I didn't saw it. The change in mood is priceless.. made me think of the saying.. when a door closes.. a window opens.. which is clearly what happened here.. a window of more powa baby. Look forward for the rest.. I wonder if the slk320 that was in the background if is part of a new video..

Very informative video. I learned alot. I was under the impression that Lighting's had 4 valve heads. Live and learn.

Been there. Bought a 97 Z28 with a Vortech blower kit from the era. So no injectors just an FMU, no tune, just a spark retard box with a knob the previous owner didn't understand. Found broken ring lands on cylinder #7. Took the opportunity to upgrade to forged rods and pistons, bored .030 over, upgraded camshaft and ported the stock heads and intake, 24x conversion (Holley Terminator X) and a custom closed loop catch can. Now I've got a 600hp LT1 Camaro that I can trust the engine in for years to come!

Since I have been building cars for 50+ years most of the info was not new to me. But it was good to get a review. Interesting video. Never seen an SVT block torn down.

Hi Alex and Peter, thank you for rebuilding and not just swaping out a different engine. I'll enjoy the rebuild. Wondering what ever happened to the V12 Mercedes, did I miss something.

Loved the entro and as I said in you first video to be honest I saw the cylinder walls first and had to play back to see the piston so at this point better rods and pistons bore the block polish the crank or turn it if it needs it port the heads or after market heads cams and a proper tune and you should be good to go. In a way I'm happy for you once all is done it will be a beast. God bless and as always be safe 👍

a friend of mine had a lightning years back and was having issues with the heads. i think he said it was something the way ford manufactured the heads from the factory and there was something on the passenger side that wouldn't allow the head to sit fully flush on the block. i want to say he mentioned that you'd need to have the brand new heads from ford taken to a machine shop to have the issue resolved. i figured i'd mention something about it so that you could look around for that info in the ford community and plan ahead before you get too much farther than you are. good luck with the rebuild of the engine and keep up the good videos.
