I installed a fully adjustable coilover suspension on my turbo diesel Mercedes for about what normal aftermarket replacement parts cost. With 30 different suspension settings, this will allow me to daily drive the car and have fun around a track with just a few clicks of a knob. My 2005 E320 CDI will never be the same.

@@000polsris000 Absolutlely, We have a 2012 Sprinter so many ??? hard to find answers, DEF disconnect, Injector replacement. DPF filter replacement/reman/removal, etc.,etc.Sprinters are so common and people want good info. Guys are so intimidated by"German engineering" believing you have to take a Mercedes to the dealer, the only ones with the "Germanmojo". Links to good part sources, info resources, DIY stuff, and customization would be a true hit. The market is wide open, the only ones I've found communicate poorly, video extremely amateur and not thorough. Hi buddy, regarding BC coilovers.. The spring rate is determined by the spring itself, spring preload is determined by the spring seat. This is one area where BC's are better than similar price product. Ride height is set by winding shock length into cup mount with unit fitted to car.

The car is coming along great and will look awesome when it's done, plus for some reason cars always look meaner and cooler in black, and that style Mercedes E class really does, more so when shown next to the silver one. I also love the desk you had your shocks on, it looks cool with the checker plate look draw fronts (what we call it hear in the UK).

true, i had a 20 year old A class 190 for some time for fun, it cornered at speeds that would cause your nearest constable to rip your licence in half, jk, it was far from even good, but for a 20 year old car that had stability issues from factory, it held its own in corners and roundabouts where I had most other cars slow down... Though, you are an imbecile if you brake in corners or before them, just let off the gas pedal, enter at appropriate speed and downshift into third, get the revs at about 3k and leave the curve at about 80km/h... And thats talking garbage cars, a proper car should not leave 60 or less degree corners with anything less than 100km/h... Shit, on the highway that little A190 W168 went 160 km/h or 100 mi/h and you could let the wheel go for over 15 seconds before having to adjust it a bit, which for a 4cyl 20yo tin can isnt bad at all... Tl:dr: german engineering is well worth it...

Hey Alex I'm thinking about getting an E55, decent cars seem to be between 12k-18k if I wanted to turn it into a high 10 second car or very low 11 second car how much should I budget for performance mods? Also I do zero maintenance and would pay someone to install the performance modifcations I also want to drive it as a daily.

@serbancordis3416 5 жыл бұрын
Nice upgrade! Some thoughts, maybe you can stick a servo motor on those shocks so you can control the stiffness from inside the car. It would be kind of a cheap upgrade. I would be using some camber bolts, othewise lowering to where the wheel is leveled to the wheel arch will bring -2deg of camber or more. Even low and you are definitely not very ok.

Hey Alex nice setup there, I’ve done a few on E55’s already with the air springs, totally transforms the handling of the car, also BC has extensions for the rear shock adjusters so you won’t have to cut holes in the trunk paneling. Only thing left would be poly bushings and bigger sway bars which I haven’t been able to find yet, that and figuring out a way to better the steering feel on the 211 chassis, no matter what you do the steering feels like a bus unfortunately.

I love everything you do Alex, and while I wouldnt personally reccomend BC coilovers, I dont really care about anyone else using them. One thing about BC coils is that their in house springs are widely considered to be kinda crap. The swift spring upgrades are a great choice for anyone getting any brand of coils, especially cheaper setups. Remember kids, buy once, cry once!

While I don give 2 hoots about being able to put tuneable suspension parts in my CDI, I would like to upgrade those rear springs! The factory springs seem to break at about 100K miles. I'm now on my third set! The factory shocks held up for a pretty long time. If I thought those fancy adjustable shocks would hold up for as long as OE shocks did, I'd go for them. I just don't know.

Hey Alex, I bought a 2005 E55, mainly because of you and your videos!! Great info, thanks for your videos. Anyhow, my car is not without issues. Some clown changed out the air ride for some Mickey Mouse set up. Also, the car keeps warning me about the suspension, and to seek a workshop. as a northern american (canadian) living in Dubai, I don't always have access to a great mechanic that I can trust their opinion. My question, if you have time; would you recommend renewing with coil-overs as you just put in on your e320, or getting the thing back to air. I like the idea of a nice soft air ride on my ride. I'm not a corner guy (i've got a 911 and a great bike for that), i love the power and the next mods will likely be some cooling/power from vrp, long tube headers, and a raceIQ tune once all is together. Thanks in advance Jad

Can we get an update? I went ahead a bought a used J-05 set on ebay for my E320 CDI. What final settings - number of turns - did you use for ride height front & back??

Too bad BC racing doesn't make those for the 02 E430 4matic. I could use a set of them. Broken front spring, bad shocks. Coil overseas would be great.

3:27 splicing in old footage eh? BC seem to be big with the e39 crew too. What are they like for ride as I like the stock smoothness and previous rollovers I've had on cars have been pretty stiff.

You are probably thinking of the brake video? Not the same footage but similar.

You don't need to separate the lower ball joint to remove the front struts my friend..... Simply unbolt the top ball joint and slide it out of the upper control arm, and boom, clearance!

I've done that too! I've also not taken anything apart and just had a friend pull down. So many ways so little time.

@@LegitStreetCars I've had to do strut swaps on w211's several times, it's nothing compared to front struts swaps on a W164, my God is that a nightmare.
