I have a suggestion for you, you could fill the open space of the tunnel with minifigs dressed like miners and give them tools to mine various colored crystals from the cavern/tunnel.

Jang you should totally keep the Hogwarts Express in your city. Just swap out the Harry Potter minifigs and just put your own in there. Also add more passenger cars. That train looks great when it runs

I was really hoping to see a video like this from you (hoping, not expecting, of course). I have almost no experience with Power Functions (just the Ferris Wheel I set up last week), and I have no experience with LEGO trains, but I really want to set up a small loop for the Hogwarts Express to run around Hogwarts, and this has been very helpful! I'm thinking I might build a modified passenger car to attach the new style of motor to, since the undercarriage of that car I feel is the weakest part of the base set anyway. But we'll see when I get the set! Again, thanks so much for making this video! Keep up the great work!

That initial tracking shot was fantastic. So well done. Very smooth, the train is centered and you follow it for quite a while as it pleasantly travels through your city. Just great. I can appreciate the work it took to get such a flawless shot.

Very high quality video as usual, Jang! I would love to see you do a thorough video on the different power and track systems to use when creating custom train displays. Like if one were to start collecting tracks and motors today, is the newest system the one you would recommend? Or is maybe one of the older power systems preferable if you're working on a larger scale or a smaller scale, etc.

Jang I love what you have done with the Hogwarts Express and your brilliant LEGO city. It would be awesome if you could add the Harry Potter theme underneath your city, just like what you did with the Minecraft, underwater, and miners theme. You talked about how you enjoyed bringing nostalgia to your viewers in your Beyond the Brick interview and Harry Potter gives your the perfect opportunity to do that especially with LEGOS recent releases of the sets.

I find it odd that they make the front truck so that it can be unlocked for use on a track, but don't make it semi power functions ready. Great mod.... Thanks for sharing!!!

DargoDog it's just intended to use the hand pusher engine. Still better than if you also had to come up with a solution to make the front axles turn if you decided to motorize this. At least they solved that part for you by design.

I would make the tender a little longer in my opinion, and then use the emerald nights drive rods to make it look more realistic!

The Hogwarts Express is such an interesting train and lots of people will want to have the option to have it run and watch it go! we love the movies so having the train be able to function is perfect! A moc steam engine would be an excellent edition to the melon bee district. Since you chose a cyber punk theme maybe a nuclear steam "Power Train" ( no pun intended ) similar to a modern nuclear submarine with a conductors cab on the back maybe a couple cooling towers for the coal cart. Love your work! Can't wait to see the IDF base progress.

Ha! I knew you wouldn't resist motorizing this train! You've shown that it's at least possible, but it looks good on your tracks, and looks not so out of place, since it's from the fictional world of Harry Potter, if it was a Christmas train, I'd say it wouldn't really belong there as a permanent train! I agree that a second and third passenger car would make it look more complete, right now, it's quite small, but it's a really cool mod for the locomotive!

While I think it was custom painted for the film, the Hogwarts Express IS a perfectly real and functioning steam train, so it's not nearly as out of place as, say, a spaceship from Star Wars would be.

Great video, appreciate the ideas and tips! I ordered two trains today at 1/3 off (going to keep the extra passenger carriage from set #2 and sell off the rest). Planning on 'de-Potterising' the train with some small mods, but also want to motorize it. I'm lucky in that I've got a spare of each system (PF and PU) so I've got several options.
