Great comment! I also agree. My 90s castles and Forestmen sets may not be the greatest ever designed, but because they remind me of when I was a kid, recreating the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves with my sister, they will remain a favorite forever.

Unless I am mistaken, Lego doesn't make anymore of those awesome raised base plates. Everything now is BURP's, MURP's and LURP's. That's too bad, because raised base plates are just incredible structures to build on. Very nice Caleb.
@CheeseyStudios2 жыл бұрын
I wanna say Pharaoh's Quest in 2011 was the last time we saw a raised baseplate, used quite effectively there. Now as a MOC builder, I prefer building up my own terrain with bricks, but as a kid, my brother and I loved having the raised baseplates. I remember we even built our first Christmas village on top of the raised baseplate from Ogel's Mountain Fortress!

The K-Mart in my city went out of business in 1999 or 2000, and my family bought a bunch of Lego sets at a steep discount. Amazon Ancient Ruins was one we got for me, and Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins for one of my younger brothers. I swapped my Johnny's hands with Achu's gloves, partly so we could tell whose was whose more easily and because I thought it brought Achu closer to looking naked and therefore funny. (I swapped Achu's pelvis with the yellow pelvis off some Space figure or another for the same reason). I still have that gray cooking pot and brown boat! They're both on my dining room table right now. I was also very into Castle and its subthemes, and noticed from catalog photos that King Leo's Castle used the same mold as the Amazon Ancient Ruins, so I built my best approximation of that castle with my existing parts from eyeballing it in the magazines. I still have the baseplate, and kinda want to rebuild the Amazon Ancient Ruins roughly as intended using my current collection.

I remember being given this set in used condition back when I was a kid. I was too little to build the temple according to the instructions, but this set was a goldmine of awesome pieces to use for my own builds. Sometimes I still find a few exclusive pieces to this set while digging for parts in my bins, and was surprised to see parts that I usually just rummage passed go for so much. Knowing that, I still don’t think I’d ever sell them, though. The minifigures and treasures in this set were so cool to me. I think my favorite piece of all was the jumbo backpack of all things that you could put stuff inside... either that, or the movie camera. - Noah

Lego needs to update and re-release old sets more. Maybe like a Legacy line.

I'd love something like that. I hope we get some sort of Adventurers remake as a GWP or something for the 100th anniversary

I definitely think those would sell so well and a huge missed opportunity by Lego. The want is there. The space and castle sets are great!! And I even thought for smaller sets to be redone with the older set included. Like a companion set! I just hope we get more BlackTron, m Tron, space police and ice planet!!!

this set became my dream set after having acquired the enchanted islands. I would love to put a hand on this one...

I wished Lego did more base plates.

Indeed. They had some really cool ones back in the day

@@CheeseyStudios Yea, As kid I really enjoyed them. As adult I wish that they were still apart of Lego. It really feels like the whole thing is complete.
