Lego needs to release the "Build your own DnD party" set with bunch of minifigs and accessories for them. So the people can build their own characters and use them in tabletop games. :) It is really a shame the set doesn't come with game campaign included. Real missed opportunity imho.

@@TiagoCatarinoit’s just like Lego fans, you have your casual fans who spend under/around $100 yearly. Then you have enthusiasts who have whole rooms devoted to the hobby. Then spend/invest hundreds in books, miniatures/models, accessories, tables etc. I played dnd back in high school and college fell out of it due to not having the time to join campaigns. Now if Lego started releasing more affordable sets and included entry level campaigns that could be completed in a nightly I’d definitely purchase

@@TiagoCatarino Many players start off the game with only paper components or very cheap books. The only thing you TECHNICALLY need for D&D is a piece of printed out paper and some dice, if even that. But “blinging out” your game creeps up quick. This is for two reasons. 1) The game is so time-intensive when you have a good play group. This makes it so that you’re willing to make it look professional and immersive with cool minis, painted landscapes, tools, etc. 2) It is basically no cost of entry. In the same way that free-to-play games get you to spend a little bit at a time (ultimately leading to more than a solid price with no micro transactions) after getting you in for free, D&D takes advantage of that same part of the market. Basically, people like myself LOVE to make the game feel real using all 5 senses, and official WOTC products are plentiful because they know that. Thanks so much for covering this set! As a LEGO fan and a tabletop gaming nerd, this sounds right up my alley. Now I just have to decide between this and my next $300 miniature-based board game!

During the pandemic I started DM'ing a campaign and built all the player characters, villains and monsters out of minifig parts. It was perfect for customization and immersion. My hope is LEGO continues producing figs past this new minifig series and add-on small modules for extending the game.

@@johnmickey5017 I mean most of those monesters are just normal Lego things like the lego skelenton for exemple and the dugen isn't the type most played in all edtions of DND.... Honestly it reminds me more of a high level player casle or low level player hub from the first few editions of DND then what most think of with DND from any eidtionj being a grid paper dungeon which they could have made be playable in 5e and the upcoming edtion.... Not have a seperate limited edition normal DND advature... Like it works for a second wave Halo set not a first set of hopefull a theme.

@@johnmickey5017 Ok just finisehed the video and your right brickbuilt and minifig they have 8 DND creatures) and yeah they did an ok job at doing what we are describing but just still feels more Lego's and WOTCs new creative direction then a Lego/DND set meant to showcase the TTRPG to Lego builders and be used in every session of DND... Like it being a sprawling dungen you play in/with for countless advantures would have been awesome... As apposed to a prop that only really the DM touchs though out a single quest is dispointing especly at $350 when it should have been $200 or so... Like I did a TT wargame MOC for nanofigs using mostly random pick a brick parts just as demo of using lego for TT games It worked out fine... And their are those who also have done similar things more recently for TTRPGs and for DND specficly... Like I said this is ok and works as a fun prop but not a practical game tool.

More importantly, it's also a 10ft x 10ft cube that conveniently fills up a standard 10ft-wide dungeon corridor and is conveniently _just_ hard enough to spot that you might walk straight into a living wall of acidic slime. And as for why it (and other assorted D&D slimes, jellies, and oozes) exists... well, they're a handy excuse for why the dungeon is relatively clean and lacks all the junk the DM might have forgotten was left there by other players previously. OD&D even called them "the cleanup crew".

@@Gemini476 It would be awesome if the backstory is a wizard/alchemist created the Cube by modifying an ooze after being tired of dealing with the "heroes''" (more like ransackers, amirite) bodies that were left just lying around. The square shape was just genius, at least that's what the wiz said to themselves after casting Bigby's Hand to pat themselves on the back. The bodies goes away, awesome gear sticks around. Profit. Crappy gear? Chuck it to your rust monster pet, Flaky. She's a young, growing "pup". Skeletons? When the Cube excretes (Everyone Poops) the bones the wiz turns them into the undead guards or finds other uses thanks to a handy Tome of Undead Soups (the bone soup recipe is chef's kiss). The wizard was efficient, to say the least.

Another shortcumming (a real design flaw in architecture world): Remember, this is a PnP, with stats and variants of monsters to choose. So there were 6 sorts of dragons (1974): Green (gas), Red (fire), White (cold), Black (acid), Blue (light), and Gold (fire or gas). By round eyes and brickbuild wings, the original submission offer an option for a prefered dragon color (this calls Open Design principle!). But Lego did a Closed Design. Why not print its eyes on neutral (gray) plate? Or (if commit to non-open) offer 6 color packs.

I’m super excited for this set. Not surprising that many people are going to be interested in this from the D&D game aspect in addition to the excellent build and display. This set has something for everyone.

Its a really cool set, but like a lot of people its out of my price range. I miss the days of castle sets that ranged from $5 to $100.... Idk, everything is just so expensive nowadays. Thankfully I have a ton of lego of my own already, so I can just build whatever I want to and dont have to feel obligated to get any of these super expensive sets.

The point of the figures is just a reference to help you understand positions and orientation in battle and environments. Otherwise it can be hard to just describe the current locations of everyone relative to each other.

I'd say this is a perfect collaboration, and potentially the start of a new theme. Lego is the perfect size for D&D, and the announced Minifigure series seems to play into that. We could get more adventure sets like this one, or other accessories, such as a dice tower or microscale terrain tiles. Even packs of buildable monster figures would add to player's collections well. To put things in scale, remember that Lego Minecraft started as an Ideas submission before being officially made by Lego and Mojang. Now look how far it's come since then. Lego and Hasbro could very well do the same with this theme.

I was originally kind of disappointed that they didn’t stick with the original design. (Green Dragon wrapped around tower) But the playability of the set looks fantastic and the minifigures look so good.

Curious if the adventure is standalone or if you need other rules information to run it (Basic rules? Others?). Like if someone who is into D&D already wants to get this to show their group maybe it'd be a nice one-off adventure. Really like all the little secrets, quite a lot for a company that already puts fun secrets in bigger sets. No dice is a bit surprising, especially if it's an entry level adventure, maybe some production hurdle there? Lego's modularity already fits in with the custom nature of the RPG so I'm happy to see this, I hope they'll have less expensive stuff in this theme to experiment with. I guess minifigure blind bags may happen?

I have been using LEGOs as minis to play DnD and other RPGs for years. Some of these very DnD specific creatures would be nice to get, but everything you need to play DnD with LEGO bits already exists. The upcoming minifig series will be a nice boon to it all, though.

I would like to see 30$ character sheet set for each class. The set is essentially a box/chest with class emblem that contain minifig and various accessory specific to each class. Think the HP house set but DnD

Hey Tiago! Long time fan of the channel and your content. Sometimes I agree with a lot of your opinions and reviews, and sometimes I disagree, which is good to have healthy discourse and debate regarding the direction of certain sets created by the LEGO Group. And with this set I’m far disagreeing with the price model of the set. I think using price/piece is not a healthy way to continue gauging whether a set is a practical purchase for a consumer, especially when a set like this is as expensive as it is. And with the advent of newer, smaller, more specific pieces emerge almost monthly, it’s important to question whether the shrinking of size of pieces is indicative to the true value of a part. Transitioning from the commentary about price/piece you comment about the luck of castle fans have had over the last few years, which I completely agree with… except if these fans are able to make enough money to justify the cost of these sets. With the release of Lion Knights’ Castle, Rivendell, Medieval Market, and now this it feels as though the standard price has skyrocketed to an average price of $372.50 USD when the last true wave of LEGO Castle were playsets composing of $15-$100 price points. And understanding that you receive review copies this is not as pertinent to you but could be valuable to expressing to your fans and viewers. While all these sets are truly beautiful love letters to LEGO Castle it is reasonable to want cheaper sets for those lower income families. LEGO is a company that vocalizes its inclusivity quite consistently but it feels as though the less fortunate are left out and completely alienated from the equation. If you read this thank you, I am eager to see what your thoughts are on the current market for these prices, and if you’re another viewer like me please feel free to comment as I am eager to engage in discourse around this!

They should do some lego stuff with Guide to Ravnica based set. We need more centaurs. (Mainly a dark stone grey body and dark orange tail.) Also I actually have an official D&D off brand lego set seeming from around the time of 2nd or 3rd edition.

Im gonna come back and say- if you go off the price of Nolzur Minis, the minis + Creatures included in this are worth about 100$. And the dragon is categorically better cause it's (mostly) posable. And people already use Minifigs for their DND minis 🤷‍♂️
